And straightway he preached Christ in the Synagogues how that he was the son of God.
And after a good while, the Jews took counsel together among themselves, to kill him.
But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared to them how he had seen the Lord in the way and had spoken with him: and how he had done boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus;
But when the brethren knew of that, they brought him to Caesarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus.
They which were scattered abroad through the affliction that arose about Stephen, walked throughout till they came unto Phoenicia, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to no man, but unto the Jews only.

And the apostles and elders came together to reason of this matter. And to this agreeth the words of the prophets, as it is written, 'After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David which is fallen down, and that which is fallen in decay of it will I build again and I will set it up, that the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and also the Gentiles upon whom my name is named saith the Lord, which doth all these things.' Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world. Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them which from among the gentiles are turned to God: but that we write unto them, that they abstain themselves from filthiness of images, from fornication, from strangled, and from blood. For Moses of old time in every city hath them that preach him, and he is read in the synagogues every Sabbath day." Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole congregation, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They sent Judas, called also Barsabbas, and Silas, which were chief men among the brethren: and gave them letters in their hands after this manner, "The apostles, elders, and brethren send greetings unto the brethren which are of the gentiles in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia. Forasmuch as we have heard that certain which departed from us, have troubled you with words, and cumbered your minds saying ye must be circumcised and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment. It seemed therefore to us a good thing, when we were come together with one accord, to send chosen men unto you, with our beloved Barnabas and Paul: men that have jeopardized their lives, for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, which shall also tell you the same things by mouth. For it seemed good to the holy ghost and to us, to put no grievous thing to you more than these necessary things, that is to say: that ye abstain from things offered to images, from blood, from strangled and fornication. From which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. So fare ye well."
But after a certain space, Paul said unto Barnabas, "Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have showed the word of the Lord, and see how they do."

But Paul said, "I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no vile city, I beseech thee suffer me to speak unto the people." When he had given him licence, Paul stood on the steps, and beckoned with the hand unto the people, and there was made a great silence. And he spake unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying:

And I answered, 'What art thou Lord?' And he said unto me, 'I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.' And they that were with me saw verily a light and were afraid: but they heard not the voice of him that spake with me.
And it fortuned, when I was come again to Jerusalem and prayed in the temple, that I was in a trance;
And he said unto me, 'Depart for I will send thee afar hence unto the gentiles.'"
And as they bound him with thongs, Paul said unto the centurion that stood by, "Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman and uncondemned?"
And the high captain answered, "With a great sum obtained I this freedom." And Paul said, "I was freeborn."
Paul beheld the council and said, "Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day."
When Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, "Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee. Of hope, and of resurrection from death I am judged."

When Paul's sister's son heard of their laying await, he went and entered into the castle, and told Paul.

And Paul dwelt full two years in his lodging. And received all that came to him,

by whom we have received grace and apostleship, to bring all manner heathen people unto obedience of the faith, that is in his name:
First: Verily I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, because your faith is published throughout all the world.
What shall we say, then, that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, did find?
For I have wished myself to be cursed from Christ, for my brethren and my kinsmen as pertaining to the flesh:
Brethren: my heart's desire, and prayer to God for Israel, is that they might be saved.

for this purpose: that I should be the minister of Jesus Christ among the gentiles, and should minister the glad tidings of God, that the gentiles might be an acceptable offering, sanctified by the holy ghost.
when I shall take my journey into Spain, I will come to you. I trust to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you after that I have somewhat enjoyed you.
When I have performed this, and have brought them this fruit sealed, I will come back again by you into Spain.
I wrote unto you in an epistle that ye should not company with fornicators.

Unto me, the least of all saints, is this grace given; that I should preach among the gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,
I am constrained of two things. I desire to be loosed, and to be with Christ, which thing is best of all:
Only let your conversation be, as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may yet hear of you, that ye continue in one spirit, and in one soul laboring as we do to maintain the faith of the gospel,

The salutation of me, Paul, with mine own hand. This is the token in all epistles. So I write.

when I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and in thy mother Eunice: and am assured that it dwelleth in thee also.
Be not ashamed to testify our Lord, neither be ashamed of me, which am bound for his sake: but suffer adversity with the gospel also through the power of God,
This thou knowest, how that all they which are in Asia be turned from me; Of which sort are Phygelus and Hermogenes.
