Yet, for all this they tempted and displeased the most high God, and kept not his covenant:


They turned back and acted unfaithfully like their fathers;
They were twisted like a warped bow [that will not respond to the archer’s aim].

And they will make him angry with their heights, and they will provoke him to jealousy with their carved images.

And he will give his strength to captivity, and his beauty into the hand of the enemy.

And he will deliver his people to the sword, and he overflowed upon his inheritance.

And Jehovah will awake as he sleeping, as the strong one shouting from wine.

And he will strike his enemies behind: he gave to them reproach forever.

How long, O Lord? Will You be angry forever?
