{To the Chanter, a Psalm of David} In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye then to my soul, that she should flee as a bird unto the hill?

She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework; the virgins that be her fellows shall bear her company, and shall be brought unto thee.

God is in the midst of her, therefore shall she not be removed; for God helpeth her, and that right early.

that she should not hear the voice of the charmer, charm he never so wisely.

Their blood have they shed like water on every side of Jerusalem, and there was no man to bury them.

Wherefore shall the heathen say, "Where is now their God?" O let the vengeance of thy servant's blood that is shed, be openly showed upon the heathen in our sight.

She stretched out her branches unto the sea, and her boughs unto the river.

For the sparrow hath found her a house, and the swallow a nest, where she may lay her young; even thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God.
