The Samaritan woman asked him, "How can you, a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?" Because Jews do not have anything to do with Samaritans.

She said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with [no bucket and rope] and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water?

So the disciples began questioning one another. "Can it be," they said, "that some one has brought Him something to eat?"

The one who reaps receives wages and gathers fruit for eternal life, in order that the one who sows and the one who reaps can rejoice together.

"Thirty-five dollars worth of bread," answered Philip, "is not enough for them, so that each can take a morsel."

So they said to him, "What shall we do that we can accomplish the works of God?"

So they said to Him, “What sign (attesting miracle) will You do that we may see it and believe You? What [supernatural] work will You do [as proof]?

They kept saying, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How does He now [have the arrogance to] say, ‘I have come down out of heaven’?”

I am the living bread who came down from heaven; if anyone eats this bread, he will live forever. Yes, and the bread that I will give [him] is my physical body, [so] that the world can have [never ending] life."

It is the Holy Spirit who [Note: The Greek word here is "that" instead of "who"] gives life [i.e., understanding the spiritual nature of Jesus' teaching can produce spiritual life]; the flesh is of no value [i.e., understanding Jesus' teaching only in a physical sense makes it worthless]. The words I have spoken to you are [from the] Holy Spirit and [they give] life.

So his brothers said to him, "Depart from here and go to Judea, so that your disciples also can see your works that you are doing.

for nobody who aims at public recognition ever keeps his actions secret. Since you can do these deeds, display yourself to the world"

So the Jews kept looking for Him at the feast and asking, “Where is He?”

The Jewish leaders were astonished and remarked, "How can this man be so educated when he has never gone to school?"

If a person is circumcised on a Sabbath day so that the law of Moses can be observed [properly, then why] are you upset with me for restoring a person to complete health on a Sabbath day?

And lo, he speaketh openly, and they say nothing unto him. Can it be that the rulers indeed know that this is the Christ?

And yet we know this man, and we know where he is from; but as for the Christ, when He comes, no one can tell where He is from."

But many from the crowd believed in Him. And they kept saying, “When the Christ comes, will He do more signs and exhibit more proofs than this Man?”

You will seek me, and won't find me; and where I am, you can't come."

What is this word that he said, 'You will seek me, and won't find me; and where I am, you can't come'?"

The Jews therefore said, "Will he kill himself, that he says, 'Where I am going, you can't come?'"

“We are descendants of Abraham,” they answered Him, “and we have never been enslaved to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will become free’?”

Jesus answered, "It was neither for his own sin nor for that of his parents, but to let what God can do be illustrated in his case.

So they said to him, "Then how does it happen that you can see?"

So again the Pharisees asked him how he received his sight.

“He put mud on my eyes,” he told them. “I washed and I can see.”

"Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How is it then that he can now see?"

but as to how he now sees, we do not know; or who has opened his eyes, we do not know. Ask him [and stop asking us]; he is of age, he will speak for himself and give his own account of it.”

He answered, “I already told you and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again and again? Do you want to become His disciples, too?”

He answered, "Who is he, sir? [Tell me], so I can believe in him."

And Jesus said, "I came to this world to judge [it], so that people who can not see [spiritually] will [be able to] see; and those who [think they can] see [spiritually] will become blind."

Jesus replied, "If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin, but now because you claim that you can see, your guilt remains."

If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture can't be broken),

Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours in a day? [i.e., hours of daylight]. If a person walks during daylight, he will not stumble because he can see [by] the sun's light.

He said these [things], and after this he said to them, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I am going so that I can awaken him."

Then Thomas, which means, "The Twin," said to his fellow disciples, "Let us go too, so we can die with Him." [i.e., by being stoned to death with Jesus. See 11:8].

Then the chief priests and Pharisees gathered a sanhedrin, and said, What can we do? For this man does many miracles.

Then Jesus said, "Leave her alone so she can observe the day of my burial,

Then the Pharisees told one another, "You see, there is nothing you can do. Look, the world has gone after him!"

At this the crowd answered Him, “We have heard from the Law that the Christ is to remain forever; how then can You say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this Son of Man?”

[So], believe in the Light [i.e., Jesus is speaking of Himself] while you [still] have the Light [with you], so that you can become enlightened people." After Jesus said these things, He left there and hid Himself from them.

Peter said to Him, "You must never wash my feet!" Jesus answered, "Unless I do wash you, you can have no share with me."

Little children, I will be with you a little while longer. You will seek me, and as I said to the Jews, 'Where I am going, you can't come,' so now I tell you.

Simon Peter said to him, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus answered, "Where I am going, you can't follow now, but you will follow afterwards."
