For he spoke and raised up a stormy wind, and it whipped up its waves.

Let them give thanks to Yahweh for his loyal love and his wonderful deeds for [the] children of humankind,

Gilead [is] mine. Manasseh [is] mine. And Ephraim [is] the {helmet for} my head. Judah [is] my scepter;

Give us help against [the] enemy, for the help of humankind [is] futile.

for {wicked and deceitful mouths} have opened against me. They speak to me with a lying tongue.

In return for my love they accuse me, though I [am in] prayer.

So they inflicted evil against me in return for good and hatred in return for my love.

Because he loved cursing, let it come [upon] him. Because he did not delight in blessing, let it be far from him.

May it be for him like a garment [in which] he wraps, and a belt {he continually wears}.

Let this [be] the punishment for my accusers from Yahweh, even those who speak evil against my life.

But you, O Yahweh my Lord, deal with me for your name's sake. Because your loyal love [is] good, deliver me,

for I [am] poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.

for he stands at [the] right [hand] of [the] needy, to save [him] from those judging his life.

He gives food to those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever.

He has declared the power of his works for his people, by giving to them [the] inheritance of [the] nations.

The fear of Yahweh [is the] beginning of wisdom; all who do them have a good understanding. His praise endures forever.

[His] light rises in the darkness for the upright; [he is] gracious and compassionate and righteous.

[It goes] well [for] a man [who] is gracious and lends, [who] conducts his {business properly}.

For he will not be shaken forever; [the] righteous {will be remembered forever}.

[You who] fear Yahweh, trust in Yahweh; he [is] their help and their shield.

He will bless [those who] fear Yahweh, the small with the great.

Return, O my soul, to your repose, for Yahweh has dealt bountifully with you.

For you have rescued me from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling.

What shall I give back to Yahweh [for] all his benefits to me?

For his loyal love [is] mighty on our behalf, and the faithfulness of Yahweh [is] forever. Praise Yah!

Give thanks to Yahweh for [he is] good, for his loyal love [is] forever.

Let [those who] fear Yahweh say, "His loyal love [is] forever."

Yahweh [is] for me; I do not fear. What can [mere] humans do to me?

Yahweh [is] for me as my helper, and [so] I will look [in triumph] on those who hate me.

They surrounded me like bees; they were extinguished like a fire of thorns. In the name of Yahweh I opposed them indeed.

I will give thanks [to] you for you have answered me, and you have become my salvation.

Give thanks to Yahweh for [he is] good, for his loyal love [is] forever.

My soul is crushed with longing for your ordinances at all times.

{Remove from} me scorn and contempt, for I have kept your testimonies.

I will run the way of your commands, for you will enlarge my heart.

Cause me to walk in the path of your commands, for I delight in it.

Fulfill your word to your servant, which [is] to [bring about] a reverence for you.

Turn away my disgrace that I dread, for your ordinances [are] good.

Look, I have longed for your precepts; revive me in your righteousness.

Then I will have an answer [for the] one who taunts me, for I trust your word.

And do not snatch [the] word of truth utterly from my mouth, for I hope in your ordinances.

And I will go about {freely}, for I have sought your precepts.

I [am] a companion of all [who] fear you and heed your precepts.

Teach me good discernment and knowledge, for I believe your commands.

Their heart [is] insensitive like fat; As for me, I take delight in your law.

[It is] good for me that I was afflicted, so that I might learn your statutes.

Those who fear you will see me and be glad, because I hope in your word.

Let your mercies come [to] me, that I may live, for your law [is] my delight.

Let the arrogant be put to shame, because they have wronged me [with] lies. As for me, I will meditate on your precepts.

Let those who fear you turn to me, even those who know your testimonies.

My soul languishes for your salvation; I hope in your word.

My eyes long for your word, saying, "When will you comfort me?"

For I have become like a wineskin in [the] smoke, [yet] I have not forgotten your statutes.

[The] arrogant have dug pits for me, which [is] not according to your law.

By your ordinances they stand today, for all [are] your servants.

I will not ever forget your precepts, for by them you revive me.

I [am] yours. Save me, for I have sought your precepts.

For me [the] wicked [lie in] wait to destroy me. I give attention to your testimonies.

I have more insight than all my teachers, for your testimonies [are] my meditation.

I understand more than [the] elders, for I keep your precepts.

I have not turned aside from your ordinances, for you have taught me.

[The] wicked have laid a snare for me, yet I do not wander from your precepts.

I have taken as my own your testimonies forever, for they [are] the joy of my heart.

Turn aside from me, [you] evildoers, for I will keep the commands of my God.

Uphold me, that I may be delivered, and have regard for your statutes continually.

You reject all [who] stray from your statutes, for their deceit [is] a breach of faith.

My flesh trembles for fear of you, and I am afraid of your judgments.

Pledge good for your servant; do not let [the] arrogant oppress me.

My eyes long for your salvation, and your righteous word.

[It is] time for Yahweh to act, [for] they have broken your law.

I open my mouth and pant, because I long for your commands.

Turn to me and be gracious to me, as [is] proper for those who love your name.

I rise early in the dawn and cry for help; I hope in your word.

[Those who] pursue a [wicked] purpose draw near; they are far from your law.

See my misery and rescue me, for I do not forget your law.

Salvation [is] far from [the] wicked, for they do not seek your statutes.

I praise you seven [times] in the day for your righteous ordinances.

Great peace [is] for those who love your law, and they do not have a cause for stumbling.

I hope for your salvation, O Yahweh, and do your commands.

I long for your salvation, O Yahweh, and your law [is] my delight.

I [am for] peace, but when I speak, they [are] for war.

where [the] tribes go up, the tribes of Yah [as] a testimony for Israel, to give thanks to the name of Yahweh.

For there [the] thrones sit for judgment, thrones of David's house.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May those who love you be at ease.

For the sake of my brothers and my friends, I will say, "Peace [be] within you."

For the sake of the house of Yahweh our God, I will seek your good.

Be gracious to us, O Yahweh, be gracious to us, for long enough we have had our fill of contempt.

For long enough our soul has had its fill of the derision of the self-confident, the contempt of [the] arrogant.

Blessed [be] Yahweh, who has not made us prey for their teeth.

For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest on the {land} of the righteous, lest the righteous stretch out their hands to do wickedness.

Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with rejoicing. Then they said among the nations, "Yahweh has done great [things] for these [people]."

Yahweh has done great [things] for us; we are glad.

[It is] in vain for you who rise early [and] sit late, eating the bread of anxious toil, [when] thus he provides for his beloved in [his] sleep.

Look, for thus shall a man be blessed {who fears Yahweh}.

I await Yahweh; my soul awaits, and I wait for his word.

My soul [waits] for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning. Yes, [more than] watchmen for the morning.

O Israel, wait for Yahweh. For with Yahweh [there is] loyal love, and with him [there is] abundant redemption.

My heart is not haughty nor my eyes {arrogant}. And I do not {concern myself} with things too great and difficult for me.

until I find a place for Yahweh, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob."

Let your priests clothe themselves with righteousness, and let your faithful sing for joy.
