nor seeking glory from men (neither from you nor from others), when we might have claimed authority as apostles of Christ.

even though as apostles of the Messiah we might have made such demands. Instead, we were gentle among you, like a nursing mother tenderly caring for her own children.

For you remember, brothers, our labor and travail; for working night and day, that we might not burden any of you, we preached to you the Good News of God.

To the end ye might be walking in a manner worthy of God, who is calling you unto his own kingdom and glory,

and forbid us to preach unto the gentiles, that they might be saved, to fulfill their sins always: For the wrath of God is come on them, even to the utmost.

And sent Timothy - our brother, and God's minister in the glad-message of the Christ - that he might confirm and console you over your faith,

so that none of you might be deceived amid these difficulties. For you knew yourselves that this is our appointed lot,

For this cause I also, when I could not stand it any longer, sent that I might know your faith, for fear that by any means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor would have been in vain.

while we night and day pray exceedingly, that we might see you presently, and might fulfill that which is lacking in your faith.

to make your hearts that they might be stable and unblamable in holiness before God our father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, with all his saints.

However, brothers, you are not in the darkness, in order that the Day of the Lord might surprise you like a thief.

For God has not destined us to [incur His] wrath [that is, He did not select us to condemn us], but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

who died [willingly] for us, so that whether we are awake (alive) or asleep (dead) [at Christ’s appearing], we will live together with Him [sharing eternal life].

But, the God of peace himself, hallow you completely, and, entire, might your spirit, and soul, and body, - so as to be unblameable in the Presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, - be preserved!
