And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, men came in here tonight of the sons of Israel to search out the land.

And Joshua said to the sons of Israel, Come here, and hear the words of LORD your God.

and command ye them, saying, Take for you here out of the midst of the Jordan, out of the place where the priests' feet stood firm, twelve stones, and carry them over with you, and lay them down in the lodging-place where ye shall

And ye shall describe the land into seven portions, and bring [it] here to me. And I will cast lots for you here before LORD our God.

And the men arose, and went. And Joshua charged those who went to describe the land, saying, Go and walk through the land, and describe it, and come again to me. And I will cast lots for you here before LORD in Shiloh.

And they gave out of the tribe of the sons of Judah, and out of the tribe of the sons of Simeon, these cities which are [here] mentioned by name,
