And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in here tonight of the children of Israel to search out the country.

And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, Come here, and hear the words of the LORD your God.

And command them, saying, Take from here out of the midst of the Jordan, out of the place where the priests' feet stood firm, twelve stones, and you shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the lodging place, where you shall lodge this night.

You shall therefore survey the land into seven parts, and bring the description here to me, that I may cast lots for you here before the LORD our God.

And the men arose, and went away: and Joshua charged them that went to survey the land, saying, Go and walk through the land, and survey it, and come again to me, that I may here cast lots for you before the LORD in Shiloh.

And they gave out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities which are here mentioned by name,
