By faith Noah, being divinely instructed concerning things not yet seen, moved with fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his house; through which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
By faith Abraham, when called, obeyed to go forth into the place which he was about to receive for an inheritance; and he went forth, not knowing whither he was going.

And these all, having received a good report through faith, obtained not the promise;
God having provided something better concerning us, that, apart from us, they should not be made perfect.
Not yet did ye resist unto blood, contending against sin;
and ye have forgotten the exhortation which, indeed, reasons with you as with sons: "My son, do not lightly regard the chastening of the Lord; neither faint, when reproved by Him;
For chastening endure ye: God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father chastens not?
But, if ye are without chastisement, of which all have become partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
Furthermore, we used to have the fathers of our flesh as chasteners, and we reverenced them: shall we not much rather be in subjection to the Father of our spirits, and live?
All chastening, indeed, for the present seems not to be joyous, but grievous; but afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained thereby.
and make straight paths for your feet, that the lame be not turned out of the way, but rather be healed.
For ye have not come to a mount that is touched and burning with fire, and to blackness, and darkness, and tempest,
for they could not bear that which was being commanded: "And, if a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned";
See that ye refuse not Him Who speaketh; for, if those escaped not, when refusing him who warned them on earth, much more shall not we escape, who turn away from Him Who warneth us from Heaven;
Whose voice then shook the earth, but now hath He promised, saying, "Yet once more I shake, not only the earth, but also the heaven."
But the expression, "Yet once more," signifies the removal of the things shaken, as of things that have been made, that the things that are not shaken may remain.
Do not forget to show love for strangers; for thereby some entertained angels unawares.
So that with good courage we say, "The Lord is my Helper, I will not be afraid; what shall man do to me?"
Jesus Christ is yesterday and today the same??nd forever.
Be not carried away by manifold and strange teachings; for it is good that the heart be established with grace, not with foods, in which those who occupied themselves were not profited.
For we have not here an abiding city, but we are seeking for the one about to come.
But, of well-doing, and contributing, be not forgetful; for with such sacrifices God is well-pleased.
Obey those who are your leaders, and submit to them; for they watch in behalf of your souls, as those who are to give an account; that they may do this with joy, and not with sighing; for this would be unprofitable for you.

But he who looks carefully into a perfect law??hat of liberty??nd remains by it, becoming not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work??his man shall be happy in his doing.
If anyone thinks that he is religious, while he bridles not his own tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
My brethren, hold not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.
do ye not make a distinction among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?

What profit is it, my brethren, if anyone says he has faith, but has not works; can such faith save him?
and one of you say to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled," but ye give them not the things needful for the body, what does it profit?
Even so faith, if it have not works, is dead in itself.
Was not Abraham, our father, justified by works, when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar?
Ye see that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
And, in like manner, was not also Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she received the messengers, and sent them out by another way?
My brethren, become not many of you teachers, knowing that we shall receive the greater judgment.
For in many things we all stumble. If anyone stumbles not in word, the same is a perfect man, able to restrain also the whole body.
Out of the same mouth come forth blessing and cursing! My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
But, if ye have bitter jealousy and contention in your heart, do not boast and lie against the truth.
This wisdom is not the wisdom that comes down from above; but is earthly, soulish, demoniacal!

For it were better for them not to have fully known the way of righteousness, than, having known it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them.
But, beloved, let not this one thing escape you, that one day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
The Lord is not slow respecting the promise, as some account slowness; but He is long-suffering toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and are walking in the darkness, we lie, and do not the truth;
If we say, "We have no sin," we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we say, "We have not sinned," we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
My little children, these things I write to you, that ye may not sin. And, if any one sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the Righteous.
And He is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the whole world.
He who says, "I have known Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him;
