So the Lord said, “I will destroy (annihilate) mankind whom I have created from the surface of the earth—not only man, but the animals and the crawling things and the birds of the air—because it [deeply] grieves Me [to see mankind’s sin] and I regret that I have made them.”

The [population of the] earth was corrupt [absolutely depraved—spiritually and morally putrid] in God’s sight, and the land was filled with violence [desecration, infringement, outrage, assault, and lust for power].

So God said unto Noah: the end of all flesh, hath come in before me, for, filled, is the earth with violence, because of them, - behold me, then, destroying them with the earth.

So make yourself an ark out of cedar, constructing compartments in it, and cover it inside and out with tar.

This is the way you are to make it: the length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits (450’ x 75’ x 45’).

'And I have established My covenant with thee, and thou hast come in unto the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy son's wives with thee;

You are to bring two of every living thing into the ark so they may remain alive with you. They are to be male and female.

Two of everything—from the birds according to their kinds, from the livestock according to their kinds, and from the animals that crawl on the ground according to their kinds—will come to you so that you can keep them alive.

And Jehovah will say to Noah, Come thou, and all thy house into the ark, for thee I saw just to my face in this generation.

And of the birds of the air, seven males and seven females, so that their seed may still be living on the face of the earth.

For in seven days more, I, am sending rain on the earth, forty days and forty nights, - so will I wipe out all the living things which I have made, from off the face of the ground.

So Noah, his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives entered the ark because of the waters of the flood.

In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;

So they entered in unto Noah, into the ark, - two and two of all flesh, wherein was the spirit of life.

The flood continued for 40 days on the earth; the waters increased and lifted up the ark so that it rose above the earth.

The waters prevailed so greatly and were so mighty and overwhelming on the earth, so that all the high mountains everywhere under the heavens were covered.

God kept Noah in mind, along with all the wildlife and livestock that were with him in the ark. God's Spirit moved throughout the earth, causing the flood waters to subside.

The deep's fountains and the sky's windows were also stopped, and the rain from the sky was restrained.

and the waters returned from off the earth they went on returning, - and so the waters decreased at the end of a hundred and fifty days.

The ship rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on Ararat's mountains.

But the dove found no place on which to rest the sole of her foot, and she returned to him to the ark, for the waters were [still] on the face of the entire earth. So he reached out his hand and took the dove, and brought her into the ark.

So Noah waited seven more days and sent out the dove from the ark again.

And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.

Now in the six hundred and first year [of Noah’s life], on the first day of the first month, the waters were drying up from the earth. Then Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked, and the surface of the ground was drying.

So by the twenty seventh day of the second month the earth was dry.

"It's time for you, your wife, your sons, and your sons' wives who are with you to leave the ark.

Take out with you every living thing which is with you, birds and cattle and everything which goes on the earth, so that they may have offspring and be fertile and be increased on the earth.

So Noah went out, with his sons and his wife, and the wives of his sons with him.

And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.

And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man.

See that ye increase, and wax, and be occupied upon the earth, and multiply therein."

"See, I make my covenant with you and your seed after you,

and with every living creature that is with you the flying creatures, the livestock, and all the wildlife of the earth that are with you all the earth's animals that came out of the ark.

yea, I will establish my covenant with you, so that all flesh shall not be cut off any more, by reason of the waters of a flood, - neither shall there he any more a flood to destroy the earth.

God also said, "Here's the symbol that represents the covenant that I'm making between me and you and every living being with you, for all future generations:

so that when I bring in clouds upon the earth, the bow shall appear in the clouds.

I'll remember my covenant between me and you and every living creature, so that water will never again become a flood to destroy all living beings.

The bow shall be in the clouds, and I will see it, so as to remember [the] everlasting covenant between God and between every living creature, with all flesh that [is] upon the earth."

So God said to Noah, "This is the guarantee of the covenant that I am confirming between me and all living things that are on the earth."

Noah’s sons who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Ham was the father of Canaan.

These three were Noah’s sons, and from them the whole earth was populated.

And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.

And, awaking from his wine, Noah saw what his youngest son had done to him, and he said,

So he said, "Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves he will be to his brothers."

And he will say, Praised Jehovah, God of Shem; Canaan shall be servant to him.

May God make room for Japheth; may God live in Shem's tents, and may Canaan serve him."

These are the family records of Noah’s sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. They also had sons after the flood.

Japheth’s sons: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.

Gomer’s sons: Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.

And Javan’s sons: Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.

The coastland peoples spread out into their lands. These are Japheth’s sons by their clans, in their nations. Each group had its own language.

Ham’s sons: Cush, Egypt, Put, and Canaan.

Cush’s sons: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. And Raamah’s sons: Sheba and Dedan.

He was a very great bowman, so that there is a saying, Like Nimrod, a very great bowman.

So the beginning of his kingdom came to be Babel, and Erech, and Accad and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

These are Ham’s sons, by their clans, according to their languages, in their own lands and their nations.

And Shem, Japheth’s older brother, also had sons. Shem was the father of all the sons of Eber.

Shem’s sons were Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram.

Aram’s sons: Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.

And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother's name was Joktan.

Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were Joktan’s sons.

These are Shem’s descendants according to their constituent groups (families), according to their languages, by their lands, according to their nations.

These are the clans of Noah’s sons, according to their family records, in their nations. The nations on earth spread out from these after the flood.

So it came to pass that, all the earth, was of one manner of speech, - and of one stock of words.

and they say each one to his neighbour, 'Give help, let us make bricks, and burn them thoroughly:' and the brick is to them for stone, and the bitumen hath been to them for mortar.

And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.

So it was named Babel, because there the Lord took away the sense of all languages and from there the Lord sent them away over all the face of the earth.

Haran died in his native land, in Ur of the Chaldeans, during his father Terah’s lifetime.

And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.

And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.

And all the years of Terah's life were two hundred and five: and Terah came to his end in Haran.

I'll make a great nation of your descendants, I'll bless you, and I'll make your reputation great, so that you will be a blessing.

So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.

And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.
