And Job will answer and say,

Let me say what is in my mind, and after that, go on making sport of me.

As for me, is my complaint to man? and if it were so, why should not my spirit be troubled?

Their children grow up while they're alive, and they live to see their grandchildren.

Their houses are safe from fear, and God's chastisement never visits them.

Who is the Almighty, that we should serve him? Where's the profit in talking to him?'


“But notice, the prosperity of the wicked is not in their hand (in their power);
The counsel of the wicked [and the mystery of God’s dealings with the ungodly] is far from my comprehension.

May they become like a straw, blown away before the wind; like a chaff that's swept off by a storm.

So Eliphaz the Temanite gave answer, and said,

Is it possible for a man to be of profit to God? No, for a man's wisdom is only of profit to himself.

Your wickedness is great, isn't it? There's no limit to your iniquity, is there?

For you have taken your brother's goods when he was not in your debt, and have taken away the clothing of those who have need of it.

That's why disaster surrounds you, terror suddenly overwhelms you,

Is not God high in heaven? And see the summit of the stars, That they are high.


“You say, ‘What does God know [about me]?
Can He judge through the thick darkness?

Thick clouds are a covering to him, so that he seeth not; And he walketh on the vault of heaven.


“Will you keep to the ancient path
That wicked men walked [in the time of Noah],

The righteous see it, and are glad: and the innocent laugh them to scorn.

"Our enemies are sure to be destroyed, and fire will burn up what's left of their riches."

So as to set on the dust a defence, And on a rock of the valleys a covering.

So shall, the Almighty, become, thy precious ores, yea glittering silver unto thee!


“You will also decide and decree a thing, and it will be established for you;
And the light [of God’s favor] will shine upon your ways.

If only I knew how to find Him,
so that I could go to His throne.

For some men there be, that remove other men's landmarks; that rob them of their cattle, and keep the same for their own;

They are the cause that so many men are naked and bare, having no clothes to cover them and keep them from cold;

So that when the showers in the mountains have rained upon them, and they be all wet, they have none other succour, but to embrace the rock for want of a covering.

The child without a father is forced from its mother's breast, and they take the young children of the poor for debt.

So that they go about naked without clothing, And being hungry they carry the sheaves.

He who is purposing death gets up before day, so that he may put to death the poor and those in need.

The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying, No eye shall see me: and disguiseth his face.

For the morning is like darkness to them.
Surely they are familiar with the terrors of darkness!


“They are insignificant on the surface of the water;
Their portion is cursed on the earth;
They do not turn toward the vineyards.

The womb forgets them;
worms feed on them;
they are remembered no more.
So injustice is broken like a tree.

He gives them a sense of security, so they can rely on it,
but His eyes watch over their ways.
