Now there were Jews residing in Jerusalem, devout men from every nation under heaven.

And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among people by which we must be saved."

And [when it] was day, the Jews made a conspiracy [and] bound themselves under a curse, saying [they would] neither eat nor drink until they had killed Paul.

who went to the chief priests and the elders [and] said, "We have bound ourselves under a curse to partake of nothing until we have killed Paul

You therefore do not be persuaded by them, because more [than] forty men of {their number} are lying in wait [for] him, who have bound themselves under a curse neither to eat nor to drink until they have done away with him. And now they are ready, waiting for {you to agree}."

But [when] Paul appealed [that] he be kept under guard for the decision of His Majesty the Emperor, I gave orders [for] him to be kept under guard until I could send him to Caesar."

And from there we put out to sea [and] sailed under the lee of Cyprus, because the winds were against [us].

And sailing slowly, in many days and with difficulty we came to Cnidus. [Because] the wind did not permit us to go further, we sailed under the lee of Crete off Salmone.

And running under the lee of a certain small island called Cauda, we were able with difficulty to get the ship's boat under control.
