The beginning of the Good News about Jesus Christ.

Jesus cured many who were ill with various diseases, and drove out many demons, and would not permit them to speak, because they knew him to be the Christ.

"But you," he asked, "who do you say that I am?" To this Peter replied: "You are the Christ."

If any one gives you a cup of water because you belong to Christ, I tell you, he shall assuredly not lose his reward.

While Jesus was teaching in the Temple Courts, he asked: "How is it that the Teachers of the Law say that the Christ is to be David's son?

And at that time if any one should say to you 'Look, here is the Christ!' 'Look, there he is!', do not believe it;

For false Christs and false Prophets will arise, and display signs and marvels, to lead astray, were it possible, even God's People.

But Jesus remained silent, and made no answer. A second time the High Priest questioned him. "Are you," he asked, "the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?"

"He saved others, but he cannot save himself! Let the Christ, the 'King of Israel,' come down from the cross now, that we may see it and believe." Even the men who had been crucified with Jesus reviled him.
