Let me say what is in my mind, so that I may get comfort; let me give answer with open mouth.

"But now, O Job, listen to my words, and hear everything I have to say!

My heart is overflowing with knowledge, my lips say what is true.

[Thou say,] Behold, he finds occasions against me. He counts me for his enemy.

‘He puts my feet in the stocks [to hinder and humiliate me];
He [suspiciously] watches all my paths,’ [you say].

Then he is gracious unto him, and says, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.

He looks upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;

Take note O Job, give ear to me; keep quiet, while I say what is in my mind.

If you have any thing to say, answer me: speak, for I desire to justify you.

But if you have nothing to say, then at least listen to me! Be quiet and learn some wisdom from me."

And Elihu will answer and say,

"Listen to what I have to say, you wise men! Pay attention to me, you educated people!

For Job says, 'I am innocent, but God turns away my right.

Indeed, he says, 'A man does not profit when he takes delight in God.'

"But if [you have] understanding, hear this; listen to {what I say}.

How may a hater of right be a ruler? and will you say that the upright Ruler of all is evil?

the one who says to a king, 'You worthless man,' to noblemen, 'You wicked man,'

"Indeed, does anyone say to God, 'I have endured [chastisement]; I will not act corruptly [again];

“Shall God’s retribution [for your sins] be on your terms, because you refuse to accept it?
For you must do the choosing, and not I;
Therefore say what you [truthfully] know.

Let men of heart say to me, And a wise man is hearkening to me.

Job has been speaking from his own ignorance, and what he has to say lacks insight!

And Elihu will answer and say,

"Do you think this [is] justice when you say, '{I am right} before God'?

But you say, 'What will it profit you,' and, 'What do I gain by not sinning?'

But no one says, 'Where [is] God my Maker, [who] gives songs in the night,

{How much less} [when] you say [that] you do not see him, that [the] case [is] {before him}, and you are waiting for him!

And further, when you say that his anger does not punish, and that he does not know transgression!

And Elihu will add and say,

"Bear with me a little longer, and {I will explain}, for {I still have something to say on God's behalf}.

because what I have to say isn't deceptive, and the one who has perfect knowledge is with you."

And he reveals this for correction, and says that they must turn from evil.

Who has prescribed his way for him? Or who says, 'You have done wrong'?

For to the snow he says, 'Fall [on the] earth'; and {the shower of rain, his heavy shower of rain}--

Let us know what we say to Him, We set not in array because of darkness.

Should he be told that I want to speak? Or did a man say that he would be communicated with?

And Jehovah will answer Job from the whirlwind, and he will say,

Where were you when I put the earth on its base? Say, if you have knowledge.

By whom were its measures fixed? Say, if you have wisdom; or by whom was the line stretched out over it?

And say, 'Hitherto come thou, and add not, And a command is placed On the pride of thy billows.'

Have you taken note of the wide limits of the earth? Say, if you have knowledge of it all.

Dost thou send out lightnings, and they go And say unto thee, 'Behold us?'

{Whenever} a horn [sounds], it says, 'Aha!' And it smells [the] battle from a distance-- [the] thunder of [the] commanders and [the] war cry.

And Jehovah will answer Job, and he will say,

And Job will answer Jehovah, and say,

I have spoken once, but I cannot answer; twice, but I will say no more."

And Jehovah will answer Job from the whirlwind, and he will say,

Will you even make my right of no value? will you say that I am wrong in order to make clear that you are right?

Will he make prayers to you, or say soft words to you?

And Job will answer Jehovah, and he will say,

Give ear to me, and I will say what is in my mind; I will put questions to you, and you will give me the answers.

And it will be after Jehovah spake these words to Job, and Jehovah will say to Eliphaz the Temanite, Mine anger was kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye spake not the right before me as my servant Job.
