whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle - I tell the truth in Christ and lie not - being the teacher of the gentiles in faith and verity.

Deacons in turn are to be serious men; they are not to be tale-bearers or addicted to drink or pilfering;

They, too, should first be tested till approved, and then, if they are found above reproach, they should serve as deacons.

but if I delay, in order that thou mayest know how one ought to conduct oneself in God's house, which is the assembly of the living God, the pillar and base of the truth.

what I tell you is certain, and deserves entire credit.

It is for this that we labor and strive [often called to account], because we have fixed our [confident] hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe [in Him, recognize Him as the Son of God, and accept Him as Savior and Lord].

Dwell upon these things in your teaching.

Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

Those are the points on which you should dwell, that there may be no call for your censure.

Let, the well presiding elders, of double honour, be accounted worthy, especially they who toil in discourse and teaching;

The vices of some men are so notorious, they prevent any inquisition: others don't discover themselves till they have been ordain'd.

that thou keep the command unspotted, unblameable, till the manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Tell those who are rich in this age not to be arrogant and not to place their confidence in anything as uncertain as riches. Instead, let them place their confidence in God, who lavishly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

Tell them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, to be generous givers, sharing with others.
