I am setting before you this instruction, Timothy [my] child, in accordance with the prophecies spoken long ago about you, in order that by them you may fight the good fight,

But the younger widows you must not enrol; for as soon as they begin to chafe against the yoke of Christ, they want to marry,

Discontinue the drinking of bare water, take a litle wine out of regard to your weak stomach, and your frequent indispositions.

Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.
