Let him not leave us, nor forsake us; that he may incline our hearts to him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his ordinances, which he commanded our fathers. Let these my words, with which I have made supplication before the LORD, be near to the LORD our God day and night, that he may maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of his people Israel, as every day shall require; that all the peoples of the earth may know that the LORD, he is God. There is no other. "Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day."

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?"

And I turned to the Lord God, to seek by prayer and petitions, with fasting and sackcloth and ashes.

So we fasted and begged our God for this: and he was entreated of us.

Now when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

Let my prayer be set before you like incense; the lifting up of my hands like the evening sacrifice.

Through him, then, let us offer up a sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name.

"If I shut up the sky so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

When the children of Israel cried to the LORD, the LORD raised up a savior to the children of Israel, who saved them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother. The Spirit of the LORD came on him, and he judged Israel; and he went out to war, and the LORD delivered Cushan Rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand: and his hand prevailed against Cushan Rishathaim. The land had rest forty years. Othniel the son of Kenaz died.

'If evil comes on us?the sword, judgment, pestilence, or famine?we will stand before this house, and before you, (for your name is in this house), and cry to you in our affliction, and you will hear and save.'

The humble have seen it, and are glad. You who seek after God, let your heart live.

Pray like this: 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. read more.

Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call on God?

There is none who calls on your name, who stirs up himself to take hold of you; for you have hidden your face from us, and have consumed us by means of our iniquities.

You lust, and do not have. You kill, covet, and cannot obtain. You fight and make war. You do not have, because you do not ask.

Yes, his soul draws near to the pit, and his life to the destroyers. "If there is beside him an angel, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to show to man what is right for him; then God is gracious to him, and says, 'Deliver him from going down to the pit, I have found a ransom.' Do not hide your face from me in the day of my distress. Turn your ear to me. Answer me quickly in the day when I call.

Hear my prayer, LORD. Listen to my petitions. In your faithfulness and righteousness, relieve me.

Hear, LORD, when I cry with my voice. Have mercy also on me, and answer me.

That your beloved may be delivered, save with your right hand, and answer us.

Let your ear now be attentive, and your eyes open, that you may listen to the prayer of your servant, which I pray before you at this time, day and night, for the children of Israel your servants while I confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against you. Yes, I and my father's house have sinned.

Listen to my prayer, God. Do not hide yourself from my supplication.

Hear my cry, God. Listen to my prayer.

Hear, LORD, my righteous plea; Give ear to my prayer, that doesn't go out of deceitful lips.

When Saul inquired of the LORD, The LORD did not answer him, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.

You returned and wept before the LORD; but the LORD did not listen to your voice, nor gave ear to you.

Saul asked counsel of God, "Shall I go down after the Philistines? Will you deliver them into the hand of Israel?" But he did not answer him that day.

At that time, Jesus answered, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the wise and intelligent, and revealed them to little children.

Now it happened, when all the people were baptized, Jesus also had been baptized, and was praying. The sky was opened,

Jesus said these things, and lifting up his eyes to heaven, he said, "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may also glorify you;

So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, "Father, I thank you that you listened to me.

And in praying, do not use vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking.

15 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites. For you travel around by sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much of a son of hell as yourselves.

Do not be rash with your mouth, and do not let your heart be hasty to utter anything before God; for God is in heaven, and you on earth. Therefore let your words be few.

When they came down to him, Elisha prayed to the LORD, and said, "Please strike this people with blindness." He struck them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.

Hear me, LORD, hear me, that this people may know that you, LORD, are God, and that you have turned their heart back again." Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt offering, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

Jehoahaz begged the LORD, and the LORD listened to him; for he saw the oppression of Israel, how that the king of Syria oppressed them.

I desire therefore that the men in every place pray, lifting up holy hands without anger and doubting.

Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the watches. Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord. Lift up your hands toward him for the life of your young children, that faint for hunger at the head of every street.

Hear the voice of my petitions, when I cry to you, when I lift up my hands toward your Most Holy Place.

Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and built an altar under the mountain, and twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel.

And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put under his head, and set it up as a pillar, and poured oil on top of it.

Jacob awakened out of his sleep, and he said, "Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it." He was afraid, and said, "How dreadful is this place. This is none other than God's house, and this is the gate of heaven."

Give us today our daily bread.

The LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends. The LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.

do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers,

Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had Moses, his chosen, not stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, so that he wouldn't destroy them.

He went forward a little, fell on his face, and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me; nevertheless, not what I desire, but what you desire."

It happened, as he was praying alone, that the disciples were with him, and he asked them, "Who do the crowds say that I am?"

And after he had sent the crowds away, he went up into the mountain by himself to pray. When evening had come, he was there alone.

As he was praying, the appearance of his face was altered, and his clothing became white and dazzling.

And early in the morning, while it was still dark, he rose up and went out, and departed into a deserted place, and prayed there.

I will bring the third part into the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will test them like gold is tested. They will call on my name, and I will hear them. I will say, 'It is my people;' and they will say, 'The LORD is my God.'"

It shall happen that, before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

For thus says the LORD to the house of Israel: "Seek me, and you will live;

The man said, "Let me go, for the day breaks." Jacob said, "I won't let you go, unless you bless me."

I tell you, although he will not rise and give it to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence, he will get up and give him as many as he needs.

He also spoke a parable to them that they must always pray, and not give up, saying, "There was a judge in a certain city who did not fear God, and did not respect man. A widow was in that city, and she often came to him, saying, 'Give me justice against my adversary.' read more.
He would not for a while, but afterward he said to himself, 'Though I neither fear God, nor respect man, yet because this widow bothers me, I will give her justice, or else she will wear me out by her continual coming.'" The Lord said, "Listen to what the unrighteous judge says. Won't God avenge his chosen ones, who are crying out to him day and night, and yet he exercises patience with them?

When he was in distress, he begged the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.

if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

He left from there to the mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to the LORD and called on the name of the LORD.

Now why do you wait? Arise, be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on his name.'

Then I called on the name of the LORD: "LORD, I beg you, deliver my soul."

You did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you will ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.

And whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

"And in that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full.

The Pharisee stood and prayed to himself like this: 'God, I thank you, that I am not like the rest of men, extortioners, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.

yet because this widow bothers me, I will give her justice, or else she will wear me out by her continual coming.'"

And Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." Dividing his garments among them, they cast lots.

But I tell you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you,

He kneeled down, and shouted out, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them." When he had said this, he fell asleep.

This is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us.

Then my enemies shall turn back in the day that I call. I know this, that God is for me.

In the day of my trouble I will call on you, for you will answer me.

It happened, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days; and I fasted and prayed before the God of heaven,

And I turned to the Lord God, to seek by prayer and petitions, with fasting and sackcloth and ashes.

Then, when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted on my altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples."

He said to them, "When you pray, say, 'Father, hallowed be your name. May your Kingdom come.

You who hear prayer, to you all men will come.

Now when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

Then the priests the Levites arose and blessed the people: and their voice was heard, and their prayer came up to his holy habitation, even to heaven.

What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also. I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

You worship that which you do not know. We worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to be his worshippers. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."

You shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart.

Let us lift up our heart with our hands to God in the heavens.

Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, "The LORD, the God of Israel, who sit above the cherubim, you are the God, even you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth.

Then David the king went in, and sat before the LORD; and he said, "Who am I, LORD God, and what is my house, that you have brought me thus far?

And when he came into Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking him, and saying, "Lord, my servant lies in the house paralyzed, grievously tormented." And he said to him, "I will come and heal him." read more.
And the centurion answered, "Lord, I'm not worthy for you to come under my roof. Just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I am also a man under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and tell another, 'Come,' and he comes; and tell my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." And when Jesus heard it, he marveled, and said to those who followed, "Truly I tell you, I have not found so great a faith with anyone in Israel. And I tell you that many will come from the east and the west, and will sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the Kingdom of Heaven, but the sons of the Kingdom will be thrown out into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." And Jesus said to the centurion, "Go your way. Let it be done for you as you have believed." And his servant was healed in that hour.

When he heard about Jesus, he sent to him Jewish elders, asking him to come and save his servant. When they came to Jesus, they begged him earnestly, saying, "He is worthy for you to do this for him, for he loves our nation, and he built our synagogue for us." read more.
Jesus went with them. When he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying to him, "Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy for you to come under my roof. Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to you; but say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I also am a man placed under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, 'Go.' and he goes; and to another, 'Come.' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turned and said to the crowd who followed him, "I tell you, I have not found such great faith, no, not in Israel." Those who were sent, returning to the house, found the servant was well.

Jesus said to him, "Go your way. Your son lives." The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way. As he was now going down, his servants met him, saying that his son was alive.

night and day praying exceedingly that we may see your face, and may perfect that which is lacking in your faith?

Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months.

And suddenly a leper came to him and worshiped him, saying, "Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean." And he stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, "I am willing. Be cleansed." And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

And a leper came to him, begging him, kneeling down to him, and saying to him, "If you want to, you can make me clean." And being moved with compassion, he stretched out his hand, and touched him, and said to him, "I am willing. Be cleansed." And immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was made clean. read more.
And he strictly warned him, and immediately sent him out,

It happened, while he was in one of the cities, look, there was a man full of leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell on his face, and begged him, saying, "Lord, if you want to, you can make me clean." And he stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, "I am willing. Be cleansed." Immediately the leprosy left him.

And after he had sent the crowds away, he went up into the mountain by himself to pray. When evening had come, he was there alone.

It happened in these days, that he went out to the mountain to pray, and he continued all night in prayer to God.

It happened about eight days after these sayings, that he took with him Peter, John, and James, and went up onto the mountain to pray.

After he had taken leave of them, he went up the mountain to pray.

He went forward a little, fell on his face, and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me; nevertheless, not what I desire, but what you desire."

Again, a second time he went away, and prayed, saying, "My Father, if this cannot pass away from me unless I drink it, your desire be done."

He left them again, went away, and prayed a third time, saying the same words.

Then he came to the disciples, and said to them, "Sleep on now, and take your rest. Look, the hour is near, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Arise, let us be going. Look, he who betrays me is near." While he was still speaking, look, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and elders of the people. read more.
Now he who betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, "Whoever I kiss, he is the one. Seize him." Immediately he came to Jesus, and said, "Hail, Rabbi." and kissed him. Jesus said to him, "Friend, why are you here?" Then they came and laid hands on Jesus, and took him. And suddenly, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck the servant of the high priest, and struck off his ear. Then Jesus said to him, "Put your sword back into its place, for all those who take the sword will die by the sword. Or do you think that I could not ask my Father, and he would even now send me more than twelve legions of angels? How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that it must be so?" In that hour Jesus said to the crowds, "Have you come out as against a robber with swords and clubs to seize me? I sat daily in the temple teaching, and you did not arrest me. But all this has happened, that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled." Then all the disciples left him, and fled. Those who had taken Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together. But Peter followed him from a distance, to the court of the high priest, and entered in and sat with the officers, to see the end. Now the chief priests and the whole council sought false testimony against Jesus so they could put him to death; and they found none. Even though many false witnesses came forward. But at last two false witnesses came forward, and said, "This man said, 'I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.'" The high priest stood up, and said to him, "Have you no answer? What is this that these testify against you?" But Jesus held his peace. The high priest answered him, "I adjure you by the living God, that you tell us whether you are the Messiah, the Son of God." Jesus said to him, "You have said it. Nevertheless, I tell you, after this you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of the sky." Then the high priest tore his clothing, saying, "He has spoken blasphemy. Why do we need any more witnesses? See, now you have heard his blasphemy. What do you think?" They answered, "He is worthy of death." Then they spit in his face and beat him with their fists, and some slapped him, saying, "Prophesy to us, you Messiah. Who hit you?" Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard, and a servant girl came to him, saying, "You were also with Jesus, the Galilean." But he denied it before them all, saying, "I do not know what you are talking about." And when he had gone out onto the porch, another girl saw him, and said to those who were there, "This man also was with Jesus of Nazareth." Again he denied it with an oath, "I do not know the man." After a little while those who stood by came and said to Peter, "Surely you are also one of them, for your speech makes you known." Then he began to curse and to swear, "I do not know the man." Immediately the rooster crowed. Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times." He went out and wept bitterly.

Now please let the power of the Lord be great, according as you have spoken, saying,

I prayed to the LORD, and said, "Lord GOD, do not destroy your people and your inheritance, that you have redeemed through your greatness, that you have brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

Continue steadfastly in prayer, watching therein with thanksgiving;

Many rebuked him, that he should be quiet, but he shouted all the louder, "Son of David, have mercy on me."

And just then two blind men sitting by the road, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, shouted, "Lord, have mercy on us, son of David." The crowd rebuked them, telling them that they should be quiet, but they shouted even more, "Lord, have mercy on us, son of David."

Those who led the way rebuked him, that he should be quiet; but he shouted all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me."

Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer; you shall cry, and he will say, 'Here I am.' "If you take away from the midst of you the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking wickedly;

if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the foreigners of Gilead, said to Ahab, "As the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except by my word."

And it happened after many days that the word of the LORD came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, "Go, present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the earth."

Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months.

So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he bowed himself down toward the ground, and put his face between his knees. And he said to his servant, "Go up now, look toward the sea." So he went up, and looked, and said, "There is nothing." Then he said, "Go again" seven times. It happened at the seventh time, that he said, "Behold, a small cloud, like a man's hand, is rising out of the sea." He said, "Go up, tell Ahab, 'Get ready and go down, so that the rain doesn't stop you.'" read more.
It happened in a little while, that the sky grew black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy rain. Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.

LORD, in the morning you shall hear my voice. In the morning I will lay my requests before you, and will watch expectantly.

But to you, LORD, I have cried. In the morning, my prayer comes before you.

LORD, be gracious to us. We have waited for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.

Cause me to hear your loving kindness in the morning, for I trust in you. Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to you.

For through him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.
