Then Peter went down to the men who were sent to him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause for which ye have come?

And though they found no cause of death in him, yet they desired Pilate that he should be put to death.

For we are in danger to be called in question for this day's uproar, there being no cause by which we may give an account of this concourse.\

The chief captain commanded him to be brought into the castle, and bade that he should be examined by scourging; that he might know for what cause they cried so against him.
