Because of this the king was indignant and extremely furious and gave a command to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.

Whoever does not fall down and worship shall immediately be thrown into the midst of a furnace of blazing fire.”

Now if you are ready, when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, dulcimer, and all kinds of music, to fall down and worship the image which I have made, very good. Immediately the word concerning Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled. He was driven away from mankind and began eating grass like cattle, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven until his hair had grown like eagles’ feathers and his nails were like birds’ claws.
