And all the work of Solomon went lustily forward even unto the day of the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid: and from thence till he had finished it, that the house of the LORD was perfect.

But the priests were too few, and were not able to slay all the burnt offerings. Wherefore their brethren the Levites helped them till the work was ended, and until the priests were sanctified. For the Levites were purer-hearted to sanctify themselves then the priests.
