Wherefore if ye had wist, what this saying meaneth, 'I require mercy and not sacrifice,' ye would never have condemned innocents.

He said, "Yea." And when he was come into the house, Jesus spake first to him, saying, "What thinkest thou Simon? Of whom do the kings of the earth take tribute, or poll money? Of their children, or of strangers?"

When his other fellows saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their Lord all that had happened.

And behold, one came, and said unto him, Good master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?"

And the young man said unto him, "I have observed all these things from my youth, what lack I yet?"

Then answered Peter, and said to him, "Behold we have forsaken all, and have followed thee: what shall we have therefore?"

And he said unto her, "What wilt thou have?" She said unto him, "Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand in thy kingdom."

Jesus answered, and said, "Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of? And to be baptised with the baptism, that I shall be baptised with?" They answered to him, "That we are."

Then Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, "What will ye that I should do to you?"

and said unto him, "Hearest thou what these say?" Jesus said unto them, "Yea, have ye never read, 'Of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast ordained praise?'"

And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, "By what authority doest thou these things? And who gave thee this power?"

Jesus answered, and said unto them, "I also will ask of you a certain question, which, if ye assoil me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things.

And they answered Jesus, and said, "We cannot tell." And he likewise said unto them, "Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

"What say ye to this? A certain man had two sons, and came to the elder and said, 'Son, go and work today in my vineyard.'

When the Lord of the vineyard cometh, what will he do with those husbandmen?"

As touching the resurrection of the dead: have ye not read what is said unto you of God, which sayeth,

And they were all amazed, insomuch that they demanded one of another among themselves, saying, "What thing is this? What new doctrine is this? For he commandeth the foul spirits with power, and they obey him."

and said unto him, "By what authority doest thou these things? And who gave thee this authority, to do these things?"

Jesus answered, and said unto them, "I will also ask of you a certain thing, and answer ye me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.

And they answered, and said unto Jesus, "We cannot tell." And Jesus answered, and said unto them, "Neither will I tell you, by what authority I do these things."

Then David himself calleth him Lord, and by what means is he then his son?" And much people heard him gladly.

And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples said unto him, "Master, see what stones, and what buildings are here?"

"When shall these things be? And what is the sign, when all these things shall be fulfilled?"

Pilate said unto them, "What evil hath he done?" And they cried the more fervently, "Crucify him."

And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots for them, what every man should have.
