Desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither the things they say, nor those concerning which they confidently affirm.

as knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their father or mother, for murderers,

For those who go after loose women, for those with unnatural desires, for those who take men prisoners, who make false statements and false oaths, and those who do any other things against the right teaching,

who formerly was a blasphemer and persecutor and an injurious man; but I obtained mercy because I did those things ignorantly in unbelief;

However, for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first, Jesus Christ might display all his patience, for an example of those who were going to believe in him for eternal life.

This, then, is the charge that I lay upon you, Timothy, my Child, in accordance with what was predicted of you--Fight the good fight in the spirit of those predictions,

For kings and all those in authority; so that we may have a calm and quiet life in all fear of God and serious behaviour.

but instead adorned by good deeds [helping others], as is proper for women who profess to worship God.

Moreover he must have good testimony from those who are outside, to avoid falling into reproach and the snare of the devil.

For those who have served well gain for themselves a good standing, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

forbidding marriage and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

But reject those {worthless myths told by elderly women}, and train yourself for godliness.

exercise yourself in piety: for those exercises which relate only to the body are of little consequence, but piety is of absolute use, having the promises both of the present life, and of the life that is to come.

For to this end we both labor and strive, because we have set our trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.

Let no man despise your youth; but be an example to those who believe, in word, in your way of life, in love, in faith, and in purity.

Pay attention to yourself, and to your teaching. Continue in these things, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

Honor and help those widows who are truly widowed [alone, and without support].

If a widow has children or grandchildren, let them learn first to show piety in the treatment of their own families, and to return the care of those who brought them up, for that is what God approves.

Those are the points on which you should dwell, that there may be no call for your censure.

If anyone has no care for his family and those in his house, he is false to the faith, and is worse than one who has no faith.

And if witness is given of her good works; if she has had the care of children, if she has been kind to travellers, washing the feet of the saints, helping those who are in trouble, giving herself to good works.

If any woman who believes has widows, let her assist them, and do not let the church be burdened; that it might help those widows who are truly in need.

Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and in teaching.

Those who sin, reprove in the sight of all, that the rest also may be in fear.

In the same way also there are good works that are obvious, and those that are otherwise cannot be hidden.

All those who are under the yoke as slaves must regard their own masters as worthy of all honor, lest the name of God and the teaching be slandered.

Those who have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brothers, but rather let them serve them, because those who partake of the benefit are believing and beloved. Teach and exhort these things.

if any one be teaching otherwise, and do not consent to sound words -- those of our Lord Jesus Christ -- and to the teaching according to piety,

But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction.

As for you the minister of God, avoid those things: adhere to justice, piety, faith, charity, patience, and benignity of temper.

which he will make known in his own time, the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of those who reign as kings and Lord of those who rule as lords,

Charge those who are rich in this present world that they not be haughty, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy;

Timothy, keep that which is committed to your charge, avoiding those profane and empty babblings, and disputations about knowledge falsely so called;

for there are those who, while asserting their proficiency in it, have yet, as regards the Faith, gone altogether astray. God bless you all.
