saying, If you had known, even you, even at least in this day of yours, the things for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.

And entering into the temple, He began to cast out those selling and buying in it,

saying to them, It is written, "My house is a house of prayer," but you have made it a den of thieves.

And they could not find what they might do, for all the people were hanging on Him, listening.

And on one of those days, as He taught the people in the temple and proclaimed the gospel, it happened that the chief priests and the scribes along with the elders came on Him.

And they spoke to Him, saying, Tell us, by what authority do you do these things? Or who is he who gave you this authority?

The baptism of John, was it from Heaven or from men?

And they answered that they could not tell from where it was.

And Jesus said to them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.

And He began to speak to the people this parable: A certain man planted a vineyard and let it out to vinedressers. And he went into a far country for a long time.

And again he sent a third. And they also wounded him and cast him out.

And the lord of the vineyard said, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son. It may be that they will respect him when they see him.

So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. What then shall the lord of the vineyard do to them?

He shall come and destroy these vinedressers and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard this, they said, Let it not be!

And He looked at them and said, What then is this which is written, "The Stone which the builders rejected, the same has become the Head of the corner?

Whoever shall fall on that Stone shall be broken, but on whomever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder."

And truly the Son of Man goes, as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!

And they began to inquire among themselves which of them it was that should do this thing.

For which is the greater; he who reclines, or he who serves? Is it not he who reclines? But I am among you as He who serves.

And as He was yet speaking, behold a crowd! And he who was called Judas, one of the Twelve, went before them. And he drew near Jesus to kiss Him.

And those around Him seeing what was about to occur, they said to him, Lord, shall we strike with the sword?

And Jesus said to the chief priests and commanders of the temple, and the elders, who had come to Him, Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and staves?

And Peter said, Man, I do not know what you say. And immediately, while he still spoke, the cock crowed.

And blindfolding Him, they struck Him on His face. And they asked Him, saying, Prophesy! Who is it who struck you?

And they all said, Are you then the Son of God? And He said to them, You say it, because I AM!
