Since many took in hand to draw up an account concerning the matters which have been borne out among us,

it seemed good to me also, following all things accurately from the very first, to write to you in order, most excellent Theophilus,

And all bore witness to Him and wondered at the gracious words which came out of His mouth. And they said, Is this not Joseph's son?

But Elijah was not sent to any of them, except to Zarephath, a city of Sidon, to a woman, a widow.

And in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon and cried out with a loud voice,

And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Be quiet and come out of him! And when the demon had thrown him into the midst, he came out of him, not harming him.

And they were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying, What a word is this! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.

And a report about Him went out into every place of the neighborhood.

And standing over her, He rebuked the fever. And it left her. And immediately she arose and served them.

And also demons came out of many, crying out and saying, You are the Christ, the Son of God! And rebuking them, He did not allow them to speak; for they knew Him to be the Christ.

And day coming on, going out, He went into a deserted place. And the crowds looked for Him and came to Him, and held Him fast, not to pass away from them.

And it happened that the crowd pressed on Him to hear the Word of God, He stood by the lake of Gennesaret.

And He entered into one of the boats, which was Simon's, He asked him to thrust out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the people out of the boat.

And as He stopped speaking, He said to Simon, Launch out into the deep and let your nets down for a haul.

And answering, Simon said to Him, Master, we have toiled all the night and have taken nothing. Yet at Your word I will let down the net.

For he and all who were with him were astonished at the haul of fish which they had taken,

And it happened, as He was in a certain city, behold, a man full of leprosy! And seeing Jesus, he fell on his face and begged Him, saying, Lord, if You will, You can cleanse me.

And stretching out the hand, He touched him, saying, I will! Be clean! And immediately the leprosy departed from him.

And it happened on one of the days, even He was teaching. And Pharisees and teachers of the Law were sitting by, who had come out of every village of Galilee and Judea and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was there, for the curing of them.

And after these things He went out and saw a tax-collector named Levi, sitting at the tax-office. And He said to him, Follow Me.

But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against His disciples, saying, Why do you eat and drink with tax-collectors and sinners?

And it happened on the second chief sabbath, He went through the grain fields. And His disciples plucked the heads of grain and ate, rubbing them in their hands.

And answering, Jesus said to them, Have you not read this, what David did when he was hungry, and those who were with him;

how he went into the house of God and took the showbread, and ate (and also gave to those who were with him) which it is not lawful to eat, except for the priests alone?

And it happened, also on another sabbath, that He entered into the synagogue and taught. And there was a man whose right hand was withered.

Then Jesus said to them, I will ask you one thing: Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil, to save life, or to destroy it?

And looking around on them all, He said to the man, Stretch out your hand! And he did so. And his hand was restored whole like the other.

And when it was day, He called His disciples. And He chose twelve of them, whom He also named apostles:

Blessed are you when men shall hate you, and when they shall cut you off, and when they shall reproach you and shall cast out your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of Man.

For if you love those who love you, what thanks do you have? For sinners also love those who love them.

And if you lend to those of whom you hope to receive, what thanks do you have? For sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

Give, and it shall be given to you, good measure pressed down and shaken together and running over, they shall give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you measure, it shall be measured to you again.

And why do you look at the splinter that is in your brother's eye, but do not see the beam that is in your own eye?

Or how can you say to your brother, Brother, let me pull out the splinter in your eye, when you yourself do not see the beam that is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First cast out the beam out of your own eye, and then you shall see clearly to pull out the splinter that is in your brother's eye.

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth the good. And an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth the evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

He is like a man who built a house and dug deep and laid the foundation on a rock; and a flood occurring, the stream burst against that house and could not shake it; for it was founded on a rock.

But he who hears and does not perform, is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, on which the stream burst, and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.

Then Jesus went with them. But He being yet not far off from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, Lord, do not trouble Yourself. For I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof.

For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers. And I say to one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it.

And hearing these things, Jesus marveled at him. And turning to the crowd following Him, He said, I say to you, I have not found such faith, no, not in Israel.

And it happened on the next day, He went into a city called Nain. And many of His disciples and a great crowd went with Him.

And drawing near the gate of the city, even behold, one having died was being carried out, an only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a considerable crowd of the city was with her.

And this report of Him went out in all Judea, and in all the neighborhood.

And answering, Jesus said to them, Go and tell John what you have seen and heard; that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the gospel is proclaimed to the poor.

And when the messengers of John had departed, He began to speak to the people concerning John. What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

But what did you go out to see? A man clothed with soft clothing? Behold, those in splendid clothing and being in luxury are in kings' palaces.
