Yahweh spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying,

“Take a census of all the congregation of the sons of Israel, by their families (clans), by their fathers’ households, according to the number of names, every male, head by head

And with you there shall be a man of every tribe; every one head of the house of his fathers.

These, are they who had been summoned by the assembly, being princes of the tribes of their fathers, - heads of the thousands of Israeli.

So Moses and Aaron took these men who had been designated by name,

and assembled all the congregation on the first day of the second month, and they registered by ancestry in their families (clans), by their fathers’ households, according to the number of names from twenty years old and upward, head by head,

As Jehovah had commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the wilderness of Sinai.

As the LORD had instructed, everyone counted by Moses and Aaron from the descendants of Levi, according to their tribe, all males from a month old and above numbered 22,000.

When he has had her drink the water, if she was defiled and had acted unfaithfully toward her husband, then the contaminated water that brings a curse will enter her and infect her, causing her abdomen to swell and her thigh to waste away. Then she is to be a cursed woman among her people.

And when Moses went into the Tent of meeting to have talk with him, then the Voice came to his ears from over the cover which was on the ark of witness, from between the two winged ones. And he had talk with him.

And Aaron did so; he lighted the lamps thereof over against the candlestick, as Jehovah had commanded Moses.

And this work of the candlestick was of beaten gold, unto the shaft thereof, unto the flowers thereof, was beaten work: according unto the pattern which the LORD had shewed Moses, so he made the candlestick.

'And the Levites lay their hands on the head of the bullocks, and make thou the one a sin-offering, and the one a burnt-offering to Jehovah, to atone for the Levites,

And after that went the Levites in to do their service in the tabernacle of the congregation before Aaron, and before his sons: as the LORD had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did they unto them.

The Lord spoke to Moses in the Wilderness of Sinai in the first month of the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying,

And they held the passover in the first month on the fourteenth day of the month, between the two evenings, in the wilderness of Sinai: according to all that Jehovah had commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel.

But so it was that there were, certain men who had become unclean by a dead person, and could not keep the passover on that day, - therefore came they near before Moses and before Aaron on that day.

And if a man from another country is among you and has a desire to keep the Passover to the Lord, let him do as is ordered in the law of the Passover: there is to be the same rule for the man from another nation and for him who had his birth in the land.

When the cloud over the tent remained for a longer time, the Israelis did what the LORD had instructed and didn't travel.

According to what the LORD said, they would remain in camp, and according to what the LORD said, they would travel. They kept the commands that the LORD had given through Moses.

They went forward for the first time on their journey as the Lord had given orders by the hand of Moses.

First the flag of the children of Judah went forward with their armies: and at the head of his army was Nahshon, the son of Amminadab.

And at the head of the army of the children of Issachar was Nethanel, the son of Zuar.

And at the head of the army of the children of Zebulun was Eliab, the son of Helon.

Then the flag of the children of Reuben went forward with their armies: and at the head of his army was Elizur, the son of Shedeur.

And at the head of the army of the children of Simeon was Shelumiel, the son of Zurishaddai.

At the head of the army of the children of Gad was Eliasaph, the son of Reuel.

Then the flag of the children of Ephraim went forward with their armies: and at the head of his army was Elishama, the son of Ammihud.

At the head of the army of the children of Manasseh was Gamaliel, the son of Pedahzur.

At the head of the army of the children of Benjamin was Abidan, the son of Gideoni.

And the flag of the children of Dan, whose tents were moved last of all, went forward with their armies: and at the head of his army was Ahiezer, the son of Ammishaddai.

At the head of the army of the children of Asher was Pagiel, the son of Ochran.

And at the head of the army of the children of Naphtali was Ahira, the son of Enan.

And by day the cloud of the Lord went over them, when they went forward from the place where they had put up their tents.

And it came to pass, when the ark set forward, that Moses said, Rise up, LORD, and let thine enemies be scattered; and let them that hate thee flee before thee.

So that place was named Taberah, because the Lord’s fire had blazed among them.

The riff-raff that [were] in their midst {had a strong desire}; and the {Israelites} turned back and also wept, and they said, "Who will feed us meat?

Sweet is the memory of the fish we had in Egypt for nothing, and the fruit and green plants of every sort, sharp and pleasing to the taste:

The Manna was as it had been coriander seed, and to see to like bdellium.

And when Moses heard the people weep in their households every man in the door of his tent, then the wrath of the LORD waxed hot exceedingly: and it grieved Moses also.

And unto the people thou dost say, Sanctify yourselves for to-morrow, and ye have eaten flesh (for ye have wept in the ears of Jehovah, saying, Who doth give us flesh? for we had good in Egypt) -- and Jehovah hath given to you flesh, and ye have eaten.

Moses went out and told the people the words of the Lord. He brought 70 men from the elders of the people and had them stand around the tent.

Then the Lord came down in the cloud and had talk with him, and put on the seventy men some of the spirit which was on him: now when the spirit came to rest on them, they were like prophets, but only at that time.

But there remained two men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the Spirit rested upon them; and they were of them that were written, but had not gone out unto the Tent; and they prophesied in the camp.

Then Joshua, the son of Nun, who had been Moses' servant from the time when he was a child, said, My lord Moses, let them be stopped.

Now, a wind, had sprung up, from Yahweh, and cut off quails from the sea, and let them lie over the camp - as it were a days journey here and a days journey there, round about the amp, - and as it were two cubits on the face of the land.

The flesh, was yet between their teeth, not yet chewed, - when the anger of Yahweh, had kindled upon the people, and Yahweh smote the people, with an exceeding great plague.

So they named that place Kibroth-hattaavah, because there they buried the people who had craved the meat.
