A short list of Synonyms is added, embracing some Greek and English words which could not well be considered in the Dictionary. It is important that those who believe in the verbal inspiration of scripture should study the words used by the Holy Spirit as far as they have the means.
The few Synonyms here given may be regarded as samples, and may lead the reader into a new and interesting field of study, which if followed out would embrace the careful consideration of hundreds of other words. Such a study will not merely tend to the acquisition of a more correct knowledge of the letter of the divine oracles, but it will form the mind in the thoughts of the God who deigns to use human language to convey to our souls what the Holy Spirit Himself calls "the deep things of God." 1Co 2:10. One who carefully studies such subjects in a proper spirit will be ever learning more of the mind of God as expressed in the scriptures.
Some words not considered here will be found briefly treated in the Dictionary under 'Author, Begotten, Children, Eternal, Godhead, Godliness, Hell, Knowledge, Lord, Man, Natural, New, Ordain, Power, Redemption, Servant, Sin, Washing, etc.'

and these serve the copy and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: See now, says he, that you make all things according to the pattern shown you in the mount.
Now, the first covenant also had ordinances of worship, and the worldly sanctuary: for a tabernacle was constructed, the first, in which were the candlestick, and the table, and the presence bread; and this tabernacle is called holy.
Now, when these things were thus arranged, the priests went, at all times, into the first tabernacle, discharging the service of God.
how much more will the blood of the Christ, who, through the eternal Spirit, offered himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works, in order that you may serve the living God?
And, indeed, according to the law, almost all things are cleansed by blood; and without the shedding of blood there is no remission.
for then, would they not have ceased to be offered? because the worshipers, after being once cleansed, would no longer have a consciousness of sins.

This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord; putting my laws in their hearts, I will also write them in their understandings: he adds, And their sins and iniquities I will remember no more. read more. Now, where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
By faith we understand that the ages were set in order by the word of God, so that the things which are seen, have not come into being from things that appear.
By faith he kept the passover, and the affusion of blood, that he who destroyed the first-born might not touch them.
For they, indeed, for a few days, chastened us as they thought it good; but he chastens us for our profit, that we may be partakers of his holiness.
Follow peace with all, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord;
For you have not come to a mountain that may be touched, and that burns with fire, and to blackness and darkness and tempest,
for they could not endure that which was commanded, And if even a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned:
Wherefore, as we receive a kingdom that can not be shaken, let us have gratitude, by which we may serve God acceptably, with reverence and godly fear:
We have a sacrifice, of which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat.
every good gift, and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no change, nor slightest trace of turning. Of his own will, he begot us with the word of truth, in order that we might be, as it were, the first-fruits of his creatures.

Adulterers and adulteresses, know you not that the friend ship of the world is enmity to God? Whoever, therefore, will be a friend of the world, is an enemy of God.
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a purchased people, that you should show forth the virtues of him who has called you out of darkness into his wonderful light:
For they are willingly ignorant of this, that by the word of God, the heavens of old had their being as also the earth consisting of water and subsisting by water,
The Lord does not delay concerning his promise, as some men count delay, but he is long-suffering toward us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Beloved, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment, which you have had from the beginning; the old commandment is the word, which you have heard from the beginning.
Beloved, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment, which you have had from the beginning; the old commandment is the word, which you have heard from the beginning.
In this is love; not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the expiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
