And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare his ways,

to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace."

As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, "The voice of one crying in the wilderness: 'Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

Every valley shall be filled and every mountain and hill brought low; the crooked places shall be made straight and the rough ways smooth;

But passing through the midst of them, he went his way.

When they could not find a way to bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down with his bed through the tiles into the midst before Jesus.

This is he of whom it is written: 'Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.'

And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion for him, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.

The law and the prophets were until John. Since that time the good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.

On the way to Jerusalem he was passing along between Samaria and Galilee.

So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was to pass that way.

And they asked him, "Teacher, we know that you speak and teach rightly, and you do not show partiality, but teach the way of God in truth.

and then the third took her, and in the same way the seven died, and they left no children.

So he went his way and conferred with the chief priests and officers, how he might betray him to them.
