It is needful then that, of the men who companied with us during all the time in which the Lord Jesus came in and went out over us,

because they were very much disturbed over their continuing to teach the people and to declare in the case of Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

After threatening them further, they released them. They found no way to punish them, because the people were all giving glory to God over what had been done;

for this sign of healing had been performed on a man over 40 years old.

But as Peter continued pondering over the vision, the Spirit said to him, Behold, three men seek thee;

So send to Joppa and invite Simon, who is called Peter, to come over. He is being entertained at the house of a tanner named Simon, by the seashore.'

you know how it spread over the whole of Judaea, starting from Galilee after the baptism preached by John ??38 how God consecrated Jesus of Nazaret with the holy Spirit and power, and how he went about doing good and curing all who were harassed by the devil; for God was with him.

The apostles and brothers all over Judea heard that the heathen had also accepted God's message,

but Peter represented the whole affair to them,

Then he told us how he had seen the angel stand in his house and say to him, 'Send to Joppa and invite Simon, who is called Peter, to come over;

Now those who had been scattered because of the persecution that took place over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, proclaiming the message to no one except Jews alone.

but he made a sign to them with his hand, to be silent: and related to them, how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. go, said he, and acquaint James and the other brethren with this affair. after which he departed and went to another place.

Now when day came, there was no small disturbance among the soldiers over what had become of Peter.

Then Paul and his party set sail from Paphos and crossed over to Perga in Pamphylia. Here John quit them and returned to Jerusalem,

and after the lesson out of the law and the prophets was finish'd, the heads of the synagogue sent this message to them; Men and brethren, if you have any instruction to offer to the people, deliver it.
