God has exalted to His right hand this very One as our Leader and Saviour, in order to give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel.
Then He said to them, "The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."
For if with your lips you acknowledge the fact that Jesus is Lord, and in your hearts you believe that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
yet for us there is but one God, the Father, who is the source of all things and the goal of our living, and but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom everything was made and through whom we live.
So I want to inform you that no one speaking under the power of the Spirit of God can say, "Jesus is accursed!" and no one except one under the power of the Holy Spirit can really say, "Jesus is Lord!"
Therefore, because He Himself lives always to intercede for them always, He is able to save completely any and all who come to God through Him.
for today, in the town of David, a Saviour for you has been born, who is to be your Messiah and Lord.
For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save the people that are lost."
For God sent His Son into the world, not to pass sentence on it, but that the world through Him might be saved.
It is a saying to be trusted and deserves our fullest acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; and I am the foremost of them.
God has exalted to His right hand this very One as our Leader and Saviour, in order to give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel.
It is from this man's descendants that God, as He promised, has brought to Israel a Saviour in the person of Jesus,
but has only recently been made known through the appearance of our Saviour Christ Jesus, who through the good news has put a stop to the power of death, and brought life and immortality to light.
We have seen and now testify that the Father has sent His Son to be the Saviour of the world.
For Christ Himself, once for all, died for our sins, the Innocent for the guilty to bring us to God, being put to death in physical form but made alive in the Spirit,
Christ ransomed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us -- for the Scripture says, "Cursed be everyone who is hanged on a tree" --
but we do see Jesus, who was made inferior to the angels for a little while, crowned with glory and honor because He suffered death, so that by God's favor He might experience death for every human being.
He made Him who personally knew nothing of sin to be a sin-offering for us, so that through union with Him we might come into right standing with God.
so Christ was offered once for all to take away the sins of many, but again He will appear, without having anything to do with sin, to save those who are eagerly waiting for Him to bring them final salvation.
He bore our sins in His own body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to uprightness. By His wounds you have been healed,
And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, "Why does your Teacher eat with tax-collectors and notorious sinners?"
for He has smiled upon His slave in her lowly station, for from this day all ages will count me happy!
got up from the table, took off His outer clothes, and took a towel and tied it around His waist.
On saying this, He showed them His hands and His side, and the disciples were thrilled with joy over seeing their Lord.
Then He said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and look at my hands, and take your hand and put it in my side, and stop being an unbeliever, but be a believer!"
But the Pharisees went out and held a consultation against Him, to put Him to death.
and plotted to arrest Jesus by stratagem and put Him to death.
As soon as day broke, all the high priests and elders held a consultation against Jesus, to put Him to death.
But they were filled with fury and began to discuss what they could do to Jesus.
So He was teaching daily in the temple, and the high priests and the scribes and the leading men of the people were trying to destroy Him,
So he went off and discussed with the high priests and captains of the temple how he could betray Him to them.
This is why the Jews were persecuting Jesus, because He persisted in doing such things on the Sabbath.
So the high priests and the Pharisees called a meeting of the council, and began to say, "What are we to do? For this man is certainly performing many wonder-works.
So from that day they plotted to kill Jesus.
The Pharisees and the Sadducees came up, and to test Him asked Him to show them a spectacular sign from heaven.
And some Pharisees came up to Him, to try Him out with the question, "Is it right for a man to divorce his wife for any cause?"
Then the Pharisees went and made a plot to trap Him in argument.
Now the Pharisees came out and began a discussion with Him, and to test Him asked Him to show them a spectacular sign from heaven.
Some Pharisees came up, and to test Him they began to ask Him whether a man should be allowed to divorce his wife.
Then they sent some Pharisees and Herodians to Him to trap Him in argument.
plotting, as if in ambush, to entrap Him in something that might fall from His lips.
So they closely watched and sent spies who pretended to be upright men, to catch Him in His conversation, so as to turn Him over to the power and authority of the governor.
They were asking this to trap him so that they might have something to accuse him of. But Jesus stooped and began to write in the dirt with his finger.
Once He was praying in a certain place, and when He ceased, one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples." So He said to them, "Whenever you pray, say: 'Father, Your name be revered; Your kingdom come; continue giving us day by day our daily bread,

and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive everyone who does us wrong, and do not let us be subjected to temptation.'" Then He said to them: "Suppose one of you has a friend, and you go to him in the middle of the night and say to him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine has just come to my house on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him to eat.' And suppose he answers from inside, 'Stop bothering me; the door is now locked, and my children are packed about me in bed; I cannot get up and give you any.' I tell you, although he will not get up and give you any because he is your friend, yet because of your persistence he will get up and give you all your needs. So I tell you, keep on asking, and the gift will be given you; keep on seeking, and you will find; keep on knocking, and the door will open to you. For everyone who keeps on asking, receives; and the one who keeps on seeking, finds; and to the one who keeps on knocking, the door will open. Now is there a father among you who, if his son asks him for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or, if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? So if you, in spite of your being bad, know how to give your children what is good, how much more surely will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who continue to ask Him?"
Now He told them the following story to show how necessary it is for people always to pray and never to give up: "Once there was in a city a judge who had no reverence for God nor respect for men. And in that city there was a widow who continued to come to him and say, 'Give me justice and protection from my opponent.'

And he would not for a time, but afterward he said to himself, Though I have no reverence for God nor respect for men, yet because this widow continues to bother me, I will give her justice and protection, so that she may not finally wear me out by her continual coming." Then the Lord added, "Listen to what the unrighteous judge says! And will not God give justice and protection to His chosen people who continue to cry to Him day and night, since He is so patient with them? I tell you, He will give them justice and protection, and that without delay. But when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth?"
Is He not the carpenter's son? Is not His mother's name Mary, are not His brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas?
While He was still speaking to the crowds, His mother and His brothers had taken their stand outside, trying hard to get to speak to Him.
Then His mother and His brothers came. They were standing outside and sent word to call Him.
After this Jesus went home to Capernaum, with His mother and brothers and disciples, and stayed there for a few days.
So His brothers said to Him, "You must leave here and go to Judea, to let your disciples also see the works that you are doing;
For even His brothers did not believe in Him.
It cannot be that we have no right to take a Christian wife about with us, can it, as well as the rest of the apostles and the Lord's brothers, and Cephas?
and not another single one of the apostles did I see, except James, the Lord's brother.

And so the Pharisees and scribes continually grumbled, and said, "This fellow is welcoming notorious sinners, and even eating with them."
"Why is He talking this way? He is blaspheming. Who can forgive sins but God alone?"
And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, "Why does your Teacher eat with tax-collectors and notorious sinners?"
And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to Him, "Just look! Your disciples are doing something that it is against the law to do on the sabbath!"
"Why do your disciples break the rules handed down by our forefathers? For they do not practice washing their hands when they take their meals."
And when the scribes who belonged to the Pharisees' party saw that He was eating with notorious sinners and tax-collectors, they said to His disciples, "Why does He eat with tax-collectors and notorious sinners?"
They had noticed that some of His disciples were in the habit of eating their meals without first giving their hands a ceremonial washing to make them clean.
And when they all saw it, they began to grumble and say, "He has gone in to lodge with a notorious sinner!"
Then the Jews began to grumble about His saying, "I am the bread that came down out of heaven."
So He said to him, "I solemnly say to you, this very day you will be in paradise with me."
If anyone serves me, he must continue to follow me, and my servant also must go wherever I go. If anyone serves me, my Father will show him honor.
And if I go and make it ready for you, I will come back and take you to be face to face with me, so that you may always be right where I am.
Father, I want to have those whom you have given me right where I am, in order that they may see the glory which you have given me, because you loved me before the creation of the world.
and yet I am cheerful and confident, but really I prefer to be away from home in the body and to be at home with the Lord.
I am hesitating between two desires, for I long to depart and to be with Christ, for that is far, far better,
then those of us who are still living will be caught up along with them on clouds in the air to meet the Lord, and so we shall be with the Lord forever.
It was just after that that Jesus Christ for the first time clearly taught His disciples that He had to go to Jerusalem and submit to many forms of suffering at the hands of the elders, high priests, and scribes, and be killed, but be raised to life on the third day.
and turn Him over to the heathen to mock and flog and crucify, but on the third day He will rise again."
But after I am raised from the dead, I will go back to Galilee to meet you."
And while they were going down the mountain, He cautioned them not to tell anyone what they had seen, until the Son of Man should rise from the dead.
But after I am raised from the dead, I will go back to Galilee to meet you."
Jesus answered them, "Destroy this sanctuary, and I will raise it in three days."
As I have gotten help from God clear down to this very day, I stand here to testify to high and low alike, without adding a syllable to what Moses and the prophets said should take place, if the Christ should suffer, and by being the first to rise from the dead was to proclaim the light to the Jewish people and to the heathen."
because they were very much disturbed over their continuing to teach the people and to declare in the case of Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
So Philip went down to the city of Samaria and began to preach the Christ to the Samaritans.
Then Philip opened his mouth, and starting from this passage, he told him the good news about Jesus.
and at once he began to preach in their synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God.
He has sent His message to the descendants of Israel, by telling them the good news of peace through Jesus Christ. He is Lord of all.
explaining them and proving that the Christ had to suffer and rise from the dead, and said, "This very Jesus whom I proclaim to you is the Christ."
we are preaching the Christ who was crucified -- a message that is a trap-stick to the Jews and nonsense to the Greeks,
For I am not proclaiming myself but Christ Jesus as Lord, and myself a slave of yours for Jesus' sake.
Now when the feast was already half over, Jesus went up to the temple and began to teach.
for He was teaching them as one who had authority to teach, and not as their scribes did.
Then He went all over Galilee, as He continued teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and curing any disease or malady among the people.
Then He opened His mouth and continued to teach them as follows:
So when He got out of the boat, He saw a great crowd waiting, and His heart was moved with pity at the sight of them, for they were like sheep without a shepherd; and so He proceeded to teach them a number of things.
Meanwhile He began to teach in their synagogues, and was continuously receiving praise from all.
So He got into one of the boats, which belonged to Simon, and asked him to push out a little from the shore. Then He sat down and continued to teach the crowds from the boat.
He came to Jesus one night and said to Him, "Teacher, we know that you have come from God, for no one can perform the wonder-works that you are doing, unless God is with him."
Early the next morning, He had come into the temple again, and all the people were gathering around Him. Having sat down, He began to teach them.
Now the apostles returned and told Jesus all that they had done. Then He took them and privately retired to a town called Bethsaida.
After He had dismissed the crowds, He went up the hill alone to pray. And after the evening came on, He was there alone,
Then Jesus left there and went to the shore of the sea of Galilee. Then He went up the hill and kept sitting there,
Six days after this, Jesus took Peter and James and his brother John, and led them up on a high mountain, by themselves.
And as Jesus was about to go up to Jerusalem, He took the twelve disciples aside, and said to them while on the road,
And He said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and rest a little while." For there was an endless stream of people coming and going, and they had no time even to eat.
Then He left there and went into the neighborhood of Tyre and Sidon. He went into a house and wanted no one to know that He was there. But He could not escape public notice.
And He Himself withdrew about a stone's throw from them, and after kneeling down He continued to pray,
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.
Father, I want to have those whom you have given me right where I am, in order that they may see the glory which you have given me, because you loved me before the creation of the world.
In the beginning the Word existed; and the Word was face to face with God; yea, the Word was God Himself.
Then Jesus said to them, "I most solemnly say to you, I existed before Abraham was born."
So now, Father, glorify me up there in your presence just as you did before the world existed.
So He existed before all things, and through Him all things are held together.
with no father, no mother, no ancestry; no beginning to his days, no end to his life, but, like the Son of God, as priest continues on and on with no successor.
John answered them, "I am baptizing only in water. There is standing among you One with whom you are not acquainted.
Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you disciples so long, and yet you, Philip, have not recognized me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Let us see the Father'?
He came into the world, and though the world through Him began to exist, it did not recognize Him.
Jesus answered her, "If you just knew what God has to give and who it is that said to you, 'Give me a drink,' you would have been the one to ask Him, and He would have given you living water."
Then they began to say to Him, "Where is your Father?" Jesus answered, "You do not know either me or my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father too."
The man answered them, "Well, there is something strange about this! You do not know where He comes from! And yet He has made my eyes to see!
They will do this, because they have never come to know God nor me.
For the people of Jerusalem and their leaders, because they were ignorant of Him, by condemning Him have actually fulfilled the utterances of the prophets which are read every Sabbath,
No one who continues to live in union with Him practices sin. No one who practices sin has ever seen Him or come to know Him.
Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said to Him, "Why is it, Lord, that you are going to make yourself real to us and not to the world?" Jesus answered him, "If anyone really loves me, he will observe my teaching, and my Father will love him, and both of us will come in face-to-face fellowship with him; yes, we will make our special dwelling place with him.
"If you really love me, you will keep my commands. And I will ask I will ask the Father and He will give you another Helper, to remain with you to the end of the age;
for the Father tenderly loves you Himself, because you now tenderly love me and now believe that I have come from the Father.
Spiritual blessing be with all who have an undying love for our Lord Jesus Christ.
Continue to be an example in wholesome instructions which you learned from me, in the faith and love that come through union with Christ Jesus.
because I continue to hear of the love and faith you have in the Lord Jesus and all His people,
You must continue to love Him, although you have never seen Him, but because you do believe in Him, although you do not now see Him, you must continue to rejoice with an unutterable and triumphant joy,
He also ordered us to proclaim to the people and solemnly to testify that this is the One whom God has appointed to be the Judge of the living and the dead.
and teach them to practice all the commands that I have given you. And I myself will surely be with you all the days, down to the very close of an age."
His command is this, that we should believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ and practice loving one another, just as He commanded us to do.
Whoever continues to hold and keep my commands is the one who really loves me, and whoever really loves me will be loved by my Father; yes, I will love him myself and will make myself real to him."
I give you a new command, to love one another. Just as I have loved you, you too must love one another.
"If you really love me, you will keep my commands.
If you continue to keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commands and remain in His love.
You are my friends, if you keep on doing what I command you to do.
and she bore her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him up and laid Him in a manger, for there was no room for them at the inn.
For by experience you know the unmerited favor shown by our Lord Jesus Christ; that although He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, in order that by His poverty you might become rich.
At the same time two robbers were crucified with Him, one at His right and one at His left.
For I tell you, what has been written about me must be fulfilled: 'He was classed with the outlaws.' Yes, that saying about me has its fulfillment."
Justice was denied Him in His humiliation, who can tell of His times? For His life is removed from the earth."
but He laid it aside as He took on the nature of a slave and became like other men. Because He was recognized as a man, in reality as well as in outward form, He finally humiliated Himself in obedience so as to die, even to die on a cross.
Is He not the carpenter, Mary's son, and the brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And do not His sisters live here among us?" And so they found a cause for stumbling over him.
And happy is the man who finds no cause for stumbling over me."
we are preaching the Christ who was crucified -- a message that is a trap-stick to the Jews and nonsense to the Greeks,
And so they found a cause for stumbling over Him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet never fails to be honored except in his native neighborhood and in his own home." And so
Why? Because they did not try through faith but through what they could do. They have stumbled over the stone that causes people to stumble,
and: "A stone for them to stumble over and a rock to trip them up." They keep on stumbling over the message, because they are disobedient to it, and this is their appointed doom.
After saying this Jesus was deeply moved in spirit and solemnly said, "I most solemnly say to you, one of you is going to betray me."
Then He looked up to heaven and sighed, as He said, "Ephphatha," which means, "Be opened."
But He sighed in spirit and said, "Why do the people of these times ask for a spectacular sign? I solemnly say, no sign at all will be given them."
As He approached it, just as soon as He saw the city, He burst into tears over it,
So when Jesus saw her weeping and the Jews who had come with her weeping too, He sighed in sympathy and shook with emotion,
Jesus burst into tears.
Now my soul is troubled; what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour of agony! And yet it was for this very purpose that I came to this hour of agony.
for we know that our former self was crucified with Him, to make our body that is liable to sin inactive, so that we might not a moment longer continue to be slaves to sin.
I have been crucified with Christ, and I myself no longer live, but Christ is living in me; the life I now live as a mortal man I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.
If once through fellowship with Christ you died and were separated from the world's crude notions, why do you live as though you belonged to the world? Why submit to rules such as,
As the Scripture says: "For your sake we are being put to death the livelong day; we are treated like sheep to be slaughtered."
For all the time I continue to live I am being given up to death for Jesus' sake, so that in my mortal lower nature the life of Jesus may be clearly shown.
This message is to be trusted: "If we indeed have died with Him, we will live with Him too.
Then Jesus said to them, "Just a little while longer I am to be with you, and then I am going back to Him who has sent me.
You have heard me say that I am going away and coming back to you; if you really loved me, you would rejoice over my telling you that I am going to the Father, because my Father is greater than I.
But now I am going away to Him who has sent me, and not one of you is asking me where I am going,
And now I am no longer to be in the world, but they are to stay on in the world, while I am going to be with you. Holy Father, keep them by the power which you have given me, so that they may be one just as we are.
Dear children, I am to be with you only a little while longer. You will look for me, but, as I told the Jews, so I now tell you, you cannot just now go where I am going.
about uprightness, because I go away to the Father so that you can no longer see me;
"In just a little while you will not see me any longer; and yet, in just a little while after you will see me again."
I did come from the Father and I have come into the world. Now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father."
I have told you these things, that you through union with me may have peace. In the world you have trouble, but be courageous! I have conquered the world."
Now when the Lord saw her, His heart was moved with pity for her, and so He said to her, "Stop weeping."
"Stop letting your hearts be troubled; keep on believing in God, and also in me.
I will not leave you helpless orphans. I am coming back to you.
And Jesus, on turning and seeing her, said, "Cheer up, my daughter! Your faith has cured you." And from that moment the woman was well.
But Jesus paid no attention to what was said, but said to the leader of the synagogue, "Do not be afraid; only keep up your faith."
May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and graciously given us encouragement that is eternal, and a hope that is well-founded,
We must continue to do the works of Him who sent me while it is daylight. Night is coming when no one can do any work.
At last he sent his son to them, for he said to himself, 'They will surely respect my son.'
because I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of Him who sent me.
I know Him myself, because I have come from Him, and He has sent me."
Then Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. No, indeed, I have not come on my own authority, but He has sent me.
do you now say to me whom my Father has set apart to it and sent into the world, 'You are a blasphemer,' because I said, 'I am the Son of God'?
for I have given them the teachings that you gave me, and they have accepted them, and they have come to know in reality that I did come from you, and so they are convinced that you did send me.
for them all to be one, just as you, Father, are in union with me and I in union with you, for them to be in union with us, so that the world may be convinced that you have sent me.
Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and thus to enter into His glory?"
For I tell you, what has been written about me must be fulfilled: 'He was classed with the outlaws.' Yes, that saying about me has its fulfillment."
Then He instructed them for the first time that the Son of Man had to endure great suffering and be disowned by the elders and the high priests and the scribes, and be killed but rise again after three days.
as He said, "The Son of Man has to endure great suffering and be disowned by the elders, the high priests, and the scribes, and be put to death but be raised to life on the third day."
I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how I am pressed with anguish till it is accomplished!
He said that the Son of Man had to be turned over to wicked men and crucified, but was to rise again on the third day."
and said to them, "The Scriptures said that the Christ should suffer as He has suffered, should rise from the dead on the third day,
And just as Moses in the desert lifted the serpent on the pole, the Son of Man must be lifted up,
Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and thus to enter into His glory?"

This is why God has highly exalted Him, and given Him the name that is above every other name, so that in the name of Jesus everyone should kneel, in heaven, on earth, and in the underworld, and everyone should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the praise of God the Father.
On His garment and on His thigh He has this title written: King of kings and Lord of lords.
thus proving Himself to be as much superior to angels as the title He has inherited is superior to theirs.
Listen! You will become pregnant and bear a son, and you must name Him Jesus.
His eyes were like coals of fire. On His head were many diadems, and on Him a name was written which no one knew but Himself.
"Tell the daughter of Zion, your King is now coming to you, gentle, and riding on a donkey, yea, on the colt of a beast of burden."
Now I appeal to you in person, by the gentleness and fairness of Christ, I, Paul, who am so "condescending when face to face with you, but so courageous toward you when far away!"
Put on my yoke, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls,
Then Jesus said to him, "Put your sword back where it belongs, for all who wield the sword will die by the sword.
Although He was abused, He never retorted; although He continued to suffer, He never threatened, but committed His case to Him who judges justly.
and from Jesus Christ the trustworthy witness, the First-born of the dead, and the Sovereign of the kings of the earth. To Him who ever loves us and once for all released us from our sins by His blood,
Before God who preserves the life of all His creatures and before Christ Jesus who in testifying before Pontius Pilate made His good profession, I solemnly charge you
Then Pilate said to Him, "So you are a king then?" Jesus answered, "Certainly I am a king. For this very purpose I was born, for this very purpose I have come into the world, to testify for truth. Everybody who is a friend of truth listens to my voice."
I most solemnly say to you, we know what we are talking about and we have seen what we are testifying to, yet you are all rejecting our testimony.
He continues to bear testimony to what He has actually seen and heard, and yet no one accepts His testimony.
Jesus answered them, "Even if I do testify to myself, my testimony is true, because I know where I have come from and where I am going. But you do not know where I come from or where I am going.
On the contrary, a woman, whose little daughter had a foul spirit, at once heard about Him and came and flung herself at His feet.
And a leper came up to Him, and prostrated himself before Him, and said, "Lord, if you choose to, you can cure me."
And just as He was saying these things to them, an official came up and fell on his knees before Him, and said, "My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand upon her and she will come to life."
But she came and bowed to Him, and kept praying, "Lord, help me!"
Then the mother of Zebedee's sons came up to Him with her sons, kneeling to Him and asking a favor of Him.
And a man named Jairus, a leader of a synagogue, came up, and when he saw Jesus he flung himself at His feet
So he said, "Lord, I believe!" Then he worshiped Him.
Moses, indeed, said: 'The Lord God will raise up a prophet for you from among your brothers, as He did me. You must attentively listen to everything that He tells you.
for I have given them the teachings that you gave me, and they have accepted them, and they have come to know in reality that I did come from you, and so they are convinced that you did send me.
I have much to say about you and much to condemn in you, but He who sent me is truthful, and I am telling the world only what I have learned from Him."
This is because I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who has sent me has given me orders Himself what to say and what to tell.
Do you not believe that I am in union with the Father and that the Father is in union with me? I am not saying these things on my own authority, but the Father who always remains in union with me is doing these things Himself.
Whoever does not really love me does not observe my teaching; and yet the teaching which you are listening to is not mine but comes from the Father who has sent me.

So He said to him, "I solemnly say to you, this very day you will be in paradise with me."
They drew lots to divide His clothes among them.
Then He said to His disciple, "There is your mother." And from that very hour His disciple took her to his own home.
About three Jesus cried out with a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?" which means, "My God! My God! why have you forsaken me?"
After this, as Jesus knew that everything was now finished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, He said, "I am thirsty."
As soon as Jesus took the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" Then He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.
Then Jesus uttered a loud cry, and said, "Father, I now commit my spirit to your care." As He said this He breathed His last.
And the King will answer them, 'I solemnly say to you, every time you did a good deed to one of these most insignificant brothers of mine, you did a good deed to me.'
"Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes Him who sent me.
and whoever welcomes one little child like this for my sake welcomes me.
Whoever listens to you listens to me, and whoever pays no attention to you pays no attention to me, and whoever pays no attention to me pays no attention to Him who sent me."
He dropped to the ground; then he heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?"
Now if in such a way you sin against your brothers and wound their overscrupulous consciences, you are actually sinning against Christ.
It is God who has delivered us out of the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of His dearly loved Son,
"Here is my Servant whom I have chosen, My Beloved, in whom my soul delights itself. I will endow Him with my Spirit, and He will announce a judgment to the heathen.
While he was still speaking, a bright cloud cast its shadow over them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my Son, my Beloved, in whom I am delighted. Keep on listening to Him!"
And out of the heavens came a voice, "You are my Son, my Beloved! In you I am delighted!"
so that we might praise the splendid favor which He has shown us in His beloved Son.
So Christ too did not take upon Himself the glory of being appointed High Priest, but it was God who said: "You are my Son; I have today become your Father,"

Then I saw heaven thrown open and a white horse appeared. His rider was called Faithful and True, and in justice He passes judgment and wages war.
Or again, "I will become His Father, and He shall become my Son"? But when He brings again His first-born Son into the world, He says, "And let all the angels worship Him."
And the men in the boat worshiped Him, and said, "You are certainly God's Son."
Then Jesus met them Himself, and said, "Good morning!" And they went up to Him and clasped His feet, and worshiped Him.
and went into the house and saw the child with His mother, Mary; and they fell at His feet and worshiped Him. They opened up their treasure sacks and presented Him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
And with great joy they went back to Jerusalem;
When He took it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each with a harp, and golden bowls that were full of incense, which represent the prayers of God's people.
No one who disowns the Son can have the Father. Whoever owns the Son has the Father too.
I tell you, everyone who owns me before men the Son of Man will own before the angels of God;
For if with your lips you acknowledge the fact that Jesus is Lord, and in your hearts you believe that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Therefore, everyone who will own me before men I will own before my Father in heaven,
and everyone should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the praise of God the Father.
Whoever owns that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in union with him and he in union with God.
to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood which speaks a better message than even Abel's did.
For there is but one God and one intermediary between God and men, the man Christ Jesus
But, as the case with Him now stands, He has entered upon a priestly service as much superior to theirs as the covenant of which He is the Mediator is superior to theirs, superior because it has been enacted upon superior promises.
And this is why He is the Mediator of a new covenant, in order that, after He had suffered death for securing redemption from the offenses committed under the first covenant, those who had been invited to share it might obtain the eternal inheritance promised them.
For it was not a sanctuary made by human hands, a mere copy of the true one, that Christ entered, but it was into heaven itself that He went, in order now to appear for us in the very presence of God.
My dear children, I am writing you this so that you may not sin; yet if anyone ever sins, we have One who pleads our case with the Father, Jesus Christ, One who is righteous.
Yes, He is the Head of the church as His body. For He is the beginning, the first-born among the dead, so that He alone should stand first in everything.
And so He has put all things under His feet and made Him the supreme Head of the church,
But, on the other hand, we shall go on holding to the truth and in love growing up into perfect union with Him, that is, Christ Himself who is the Head.
for a husband is the head of his wife, just as Christ is the Head of the church, His body, and Saviour of it.
Such a person is not continuing in connection with the Head, from which the whole body, when supplied and united through its joints and sinews, grows with a growth that God produces.
Do you not know that your bodies are parts of Christ Himself? Then may I take away parts of Christ and make them parts of a prostitute? Never! Never!
because we are parts of His body.
So, my brothers, you too in the body of Christ have ended your relation to the law, so that you may be married to another husband, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.
For I feel a divine jealousy for you, as I betrothed you to Christ, to present you as a pure bride to her one husband.
Let what you have heard from the beginning continue to live in your hearts; if you do, you will always remain in union with the Son and the Father.
But from today the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God." Then they all asked, "Are you then the Son of God?" And He answered, "Yes, I am."
The Father and I are one."
If I am not doing the things that my Father is doing, do not believe me. But if I am doing so, even if you will not believe me, believe the deeds, that you may come to know and continue to know that the Father is in union with me and I am in union with the Father."
and whoever sees me sees Him who has sent me.
If you knew me, you would know my Father too. From now on you do know Him and you have seen Him." Philip said to Him, "Lord, let us see the Father, and that will satisfy us." Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you disciples so long, and yet you, Philip, have not recognized me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Let us see the Father'?

Do you not believe that I am in union with the Father and that the Father is in union with me? I am not saying these things on my own authority, but the Father who always remains in union with me is doing these things Himself.
Everything that the Father has is mine; this is why I have told you, 'He will take the things that are mine and tell them to you.'
For it is in Him that all the fullness of Deity continues to live embodied,
For from His bounty we have all received spiritual blessing after spiritual blessing.
And so He has put all things under His feet and made Him the supreme Head of the church, which is His body, that is being filled by Him who fills everything everywhere.
until we all attain to unity in faith and to perfect knowledge of the Son of God, namely, to a mature manhood and to a perfect measure of Christ's moral stature;
It is so because it was the divine choice that all the divine fullness should dwell in Him,
So with great power the apostles continued to give their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God's favor rested richly on them all.
We are witnesses of everything that He did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. Yet they murdered Him by hanging Him upon a tree. But God raised Him to life on the third day, and permitted Him to be dearly seen, not by all the people but by witnesses whom God had beforehand appointed, namely, by us who ate and drank with Him after His resurrection from the dead.
proved to be God's Son in power by the resurrection from the dead -- I mean, Jesus Christ, our Lord,
this very Jesus, I say, after He was betrayed, in accordance with the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you had wicked men kill by nailing Him to a cross; but God raised Him up by loosing Him from the pangs of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held by the power of death.
Yes, you disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked a murderer to be pardoned as a favor to you, and you killed the Prince of life, but God raised Him from the dead, to which fact we are witnesses.
So Paul, as he usually did, went to the synagogue, and for three sabbaths discussed with them the Scriptures, explaining them and proving that the Christ had to suffer and rise from the dead, and said, "This very Jesus whom I proclaim to you is the Christ."
Then He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel which was around His waist.
Put on my yoke, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls,
For by experience you know the unmerited favor shown by our Lord Jesus Christ; that although He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, in order that by His poverty you might become rich.
Because He was recognized as a man, in reality as well as in outward form, He finally humiliated Himself in obedience so as to die, even to die on a cross.
for it was through Him that everything was created in heaven and on earth, the seen and the unseen, thrones, dominions, principalities, authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him.
yet for us there is but one God, the Father, who is the source of all things and the goal of our living, and but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom everything was made and through whom we live.
It was through Him that everything came into existence, and apart from Him not a single thing came into existence.
and to make clear how is to be carried out the trusteeship of this secret which has for ages been hidden away in God, the Creator of all things,
It was bit by bit and in many different ways that God in olden times spoke to our forefathers through the prophets, but in these latter days He has spoken to us through a Son, whom He had appointed lawful owner of everything, and through whom He had made the worlds.
And He said, "Go into the city, to a certain man, and say to him, 'The Teacher says, "My time is near. I am going to keep the Passover at your house with my disciples."'"
After that He came back to the disciples and said to them: "Still sleeping! Still resting! See! The time has come for the Son of Man to be betrayed into the hands of sinful men!
Then they kept on trying to arrest Him, and yet no one laid a hand on Him, for the time had not yet come.
Jesus answered them, "The time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified,
Before the Passover feast started, Jesus knew that His time had come for Him to leave the world and go to the Father, and as He had loved His own in the world He loved them to the last.
When Jesus had said all these things, He lifted His eyes to heaven and said: "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that He may glorify you,
But the Pharisees kept on saying, "It is by the help of the prince of the demons that He drives them out."
But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, "This man is not driving out demons except by the help of Beelzebub, the prince of the demons."
But some of them said, "It is with the help of Beelzebub, the prince of demons, that He is driving the demons out."
And they continued to say many other abusive things to Him.
He said so, because they kept saying, "He is under the spell of a foul spirit."
Are not they the ones who scoff at the beautiful name you bear?
but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks alike, the Christ who is God's power and God's wisdom.
And the child continued to grow and gain in strength; He continued to increase in wisdom, and the spiritual blessing of God was on Him.
He went to His own home town, and kept teaching in their synagogue in such a way that they were dumbfounded, and said, "Where did He get this wisdom and this power to do such wonder-works?
in whom all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are stored up.
On the last day, the great day, of the feast, Jesus stood and cried aloud, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.
About three Jesus cried out with a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?" which means, "My God! My God! why have you forsaken me?"
And another portion fell in rich soil and grew and yielded a crop of a hundredfold." As He said this, He exclaimed, "Let him who has ears to hear with, listen!"
So Jesus, as He was teaching in the temple, cried out, "Yes, you do know me and you do know where I come from, and I have not come on my own authority, but the One who has sent me exists as the Real One, whom you do not know.
But Jesus cried aloud, "Whoever believes in me believes not merely in me but in Him who has sent me;
But Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and gave up His spirit.
While he was still speaking, a bright cloud cast its shadow over them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my Son, my Beloved, in whom I am delighted. Keep on listening to Him!"
and a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, my Beloved, in whom I am delighted!"
There is someone else who testifies to me, and I know that the testimony which He gives to me is of force.
yes, the Father who has sent me has testified to me Himself. You have never heard His voice nor seen His form;
I do testify to myself, and the Father who has sent me testifies to me."
If we accept the testimony of men, the testimony of God is stronger still; because this is the testimony that God has borne to His Son.
The Son of Man came eating and drinking with others, and they say, 'Just look at Him! A glutton and a wine-drinker, a chum of tax-collectors and notorious sinners!' And yet wisdom is vindicated by her doings!"
But the Pharisees kept on saying, "It is by the help of the prince of the demons that He drives them out."
Here they began to make the following charges against Him: "We have found this fellow corrupting our nation and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar and claiming to be a king himself."
Then they put up false witnesses who said, "This man never stops saying things against this holy place and against the law,
But others in derision were saying, "They are running over with new wine."
For we have found this man a perfect pest and a distributor of the peace among the Jews throughout the world. He is a ringleader in the sect of the Nazarenes;
But I tell you, there is something greater than the temple here!
The queen of the south will rise at the judgment with the men of this age and will condemn them, for she came from the very ends of the earth to listen to Solomon's wisdom; and yet, One who is more than Solomon is here.
This is why God has highly exalted Him, and given Him the name that is above every other name, so that in the name of Jesus everyone should kneel, in heaven, on earth, and in the underworld,
Since we have been given right standing with God through faith, then let us continue enjoying peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
He has sent His message to the descendants of Israel, by telling them the good news of peace through Jesus Christ. He is Lord of all.
For He Himself is our peace, He is the one who has made us both into one body and has broken down the barrier that kept us apart;
and that through Him He might reconcile to Himself all things on earth or in heaven, making this peace through the blood He shed On His cross.
And I saw the new Jerusalem, the holy city, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready like a bride to join her husband.
Jesus said to them, "The wedding guests cannot mourn, can they, as long as they have the bridegroom with them? But a time will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.
"Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten bridesmaids who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
But at midnight there was a shout, 'Here comes the bridegroom! Go out to meet him!'
It is the bridegroom who has the bride, but the bridegroom's friend, who stands outside and listens to him, is very happy to hear the bridegroom's voice. So this happiness of mine is running over.
Then He said to them, "Why is it that you were searching for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?"
His disciples recalled that the Scriptures say, "My zeal for your house will consume me!"
Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent me, and to finish His work.
We must continue to do the works of Him who sent me while it is daylight. Night is coming when no one can do any work.
how God consecrated Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and then He went about doing good and curing all who were overpowered by the devil, because God was with Him.
It must be so, because the Scriptures say: "Here now I lay in Zion a chosen stone, a costly cornerstone, And not a single one who puts his trust in Him will ever be put to shame."
Then Jesus said to them, "Did you never read in the Scriptures: 'That stone which the builders threw away has become the cornerstone; this is the work of the Lord and seems wonderful to us!'
He is the stone that was thrown away by you builders, which has become the cornerstone.
for you are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself the cornerstone.
and from Jesus Christ the trustworthy witness, the First-born of the dead, and the Sovereign of the kings of the earth. To Him who ever loves us and once for all released us from our sins by His blood,
They will make war upon the Lamb, but the Lamb will conquer them, and His chosen, elect, and faithful followers will conquer with Him, too, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings."
which will be brought about in His own time by the blessed, only Sovereign, the King of kings, the Lord of lords,
On His garment and on His thigh He has this title written: King of kings and Lord of lords.

If the world continues to hate you, remember that it has first hated me.
But they were filled with fury and began to discuss what they could do to Jesus.
But his citizens continued to hate him, and sent a delegation after him to say, 'We do not want this man to become king over us.'
It is impossible for the world to hate you; it is I whom it hates, because I continue to testify that its works are wicked.
But this is so that the saying written in their law may be fulfilled, 'They hated me without a cause.'
When the high priests and attendants saw Him, they shouted, "Crucify Him! Crucify Him!" Pilate said to them, "Take Him yourselves and crucify Him, for I can find no ground for a charge against Him."

Then Herod and his bodyguard treated Him with contempt and made sport of Him and put a gorgeous robe on Him and sent Him back to Pilate.
This is why the Jews were persecuting Jesus, because He persisted in doing such things on the Sabbath.
and they rose up and drove Him out of town and took Him to the brow of the hill on which their town was built, to hurl Him down the cliff.
After this, Jesus went on moving about in Galilee; He would not do so in Judea, because the Jews were trying to kill Him.
I know that you are Abraham's descendants, and yet you are trying to kill me, because there is no room in you for my teaching.
Once more they were trying to arrest Him, but He escaped from their hands.
And as He was passing by, He saw Levi, the son of Alpheus, sitting in the tax-collector's office, and He said to him, "Follow me." Then he got up and followed Him.
So Jesus said to them, "Come, follow me, and I will make you fishermen for catching men."
He at once called them. They left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men, and went after Him.
When day came, He called His disciples to Him, and selected from them twelve whom He also named apostles:
The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. So He sought out Philip and said to him, "Follow me."
Then He said to me, 'Go, because I am to send you out and far away among the heathen.'"
Is He not the carpenter's son? Is not His mother's name Mary, are not His brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas?
And the passers-by kept hissing at Him, shaking their heads and saying, "Aha! You are the man who would tear down the temple and build another in three days! Now save yourself by coming down from the cross."
Now the Pharisees who were lovers of money had been listening to all this, and they began to ridicule Him.
Many of them said, "He is under the power of a demon and is going crazy. Why are you listening to Him?"
Then Herod and his bodyguard treated Him with contempt and made sport of Him and put a gorgeous robe on Him and sent Him back to Pilate.
Then the men who held Him in custody flogged Him and made sport of Him,
and made a crown of thorns and set it on His head, and they put a stick in His hand, and kneeling before Him they made sport of Him, saying, "All hail, you king of the Jews!"
And the high priests, too, made sport of Him, with the scribes and elders, and said,
The soldiers also made sport of Him as they continued to come up and offer Him vinegar,
for we belong to God as His fellow-workers; you belong to God as His field to be tilled, as His building to be built.
Then they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord kept on working with them and confirming their message by the signs that attended it.
As God's fellow-worker I beg you too not to accept God's favor and throw it away.
Simon answered, "We have toiled all night and caught nothing, but since you tell me to do so, I will set the nets again."
So they came to Him and woke Him up, and said, "Master, Master, we are perishing? Then He aroused Himself and reproved the wind and the surge of the water, and they stopped at once and instantly there came a calm.
Then Jesus said, "Who was it that touched me?" But as all were denying that they had done so, Peter said, "Master, the crowds are jamming you and jostling you."
And just as they were starting to leave Him, Peter said to Jesus, "Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three tents, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah" -- although he did not know what he was saying.
Then John answered, "Master, we saw a man driving out demons by the use of your name, and we tried to stop him, because he does not belong to our followers."
and raised their voices and said, "Jesus, Master, do take pity on us!"
And He answered: "The sower of the good seed is the Son of Man;
So when you see all these things, you will know that He is right at your door.
He did not tell them anything except by stories, but to His own disciples He kept on privately explaining everything.
This is what the story means: The seed is God's message.
Then He began with Moses and went through all the prophets and explained to them all the passages in the Scriptures about Himself.
Then Jesus said, "Who was it that touched me?" But as all were denying that they had done so, Peter said, "Master, the crowds are jamming you and jostling you."
and so many people gathered there that there was no longer any room even around the door. He was telling them His message.
For He cured so many people that all who had ailments kept crowding up against Him to touch Him.
So He went off with him, and a great crowd kept following Him, and jostling Him.
Once as the crowd was pressing against Him to hear the message of God, He found Himself standing on the shore of Lake Gennesaret.
His mother and His brothers came to see Him, but they could not get in touch with Him, on account of the crowd.
"I, Jesus, sent my angel to bear this testimony to you for the churches. I belong to the line and family of David; I am the bright morning star."
So we have the message of the prophets more certainly guaranteed. Please pay attention to this message as to a lamp that is shining in a dismal place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts;
and I will give him the morning star.
If you continue to keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commands and remain in His love.
but he is coming that the world may know that I love the Father and am doing what the Father has ordered me to do. Get up and let us go away."
For just as by that man's disobedience the whole race of men were constituted sinners, so by this One's obedience the whole race of men may be brought into right standing with God.
Although He was a Son, He learned from what He suffered how to obey,
He afterward said, "See, I have come to do your will." He is taking away the first to let the second take its place.
"I, Jesus, sent my angel to bear this testimony to you for the churches. I belong to the line and family of David; I am the bright morning star."
So we have the message of the prophets more certainly guaranteed. Please pay attention to this message as to a lamp that is shining in a dismal place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts;
and I will give him the morning star.
He further said to me: "They have come true. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I myself, without cost, will give to anyone who is thirsty water from the springs of living water.
To him who conquers and continues to the very end to do the works that please me, I will give authority over the heathen;
and I will give him the morning star.
I now leave you the blessing of peace, I give you the blessing of my own peace. I myself do not give it in the way the world gives it. Stop letting your hearts be troubled or timid.
It is what existed from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our own eyes, what we have beheld, what our own hands have touched, about the very message of life --
In the beginning the Word existed; and the Word was face to face with God; yea, the Word was God Himself.
So the Word became human and lived a little while among us, and we actually saw His glory, the glory of One who is an only Son from His Father, and He was full of spiritual blessing and truth.
Omitted Text.
He wore a garment dipped in blood, and His name was the Word of God.
For it was appropriate for Him, who is the Final Goal and the First Cause of the universe, in bringing many children to glory, to make the Leader in their salvation perfect through the process of sufferings.
So the Word became human and lived a little while among us, and we actually saw His glory, the glory of One who is an only Son from His Father, and He was full of spiritual blessing and truth.
And Pilate went outside again and said to the Jews, "Listen! I am going to bring Him out to you, for you to see that I can find no ground for a charge against Him."
and because He was perfectly qualified for it He became the author of endless salvation for all who obey Him,
For the law appoints imperfect men as high priests, but the assertion about the taking of an oath, which was spoken after the time of the law, appoints a Son who is perfectly qualified to be High Priest forever.
Then Jesus was guided by the Spirit into the desert, to be tempted by the devil.
For inasmuch as He has suffered Himself by being tempted, He is able to give immediate help to any that are tempted.
while He was being tempted by the devil. During that time He ate nothing, and so at the end of it He felt hungry.
Yet you have continued to stand by me in my trials;
For we do not have a High Priest who is incapable of sympathizing with us in our weaknesses, but we have One who was tempted in every respect as we are, and yet without committing any sin.
Meanwhile He began to teach in their synagogues, and was continuously receiving praise from all.
And many of the people spread their coats in the road, while others scattered layers of leaves cut from the fields.
So they brought it to Jesus.
took palm branches and went out to meet Him, and kept on shouting: "Blessings on Him! Blessed be He who comes in the name of the Lord; Blessings on the King of Israel!"
Then I heard every creature in heaven, on earth, underneath the earth, and on the sea, and all that they contain, say: "Blessing, honor, glory, and power be to Him who is seated on the throne and to the Lamb forever."
For there is but one God and one intermediary between God and men, the man Christ Jesus
The family tree of Jesus Christ, a descendant of David, a descendant of Abraham.
Because He was recognized as a man, in reality as well as in outward form, He finally humiliated Himself in obedience so as to die, even to die on a cross.
but when the proper time had come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born subject to law,
And now I am no longer to be in the world, but they are to stay on in the world, while I am going to be with you. Holy Father, keep them by the power which you have given me, so that they may be one just as we are.
But if I am doing so, even if you will not believe me, believe the deeds, that you may come to know and continue to know that the Father is in union with me and I am in union with the Father."
Do you not believe that I am in union with the Father and that the Father is in union with me? I am not saying these things on my own authority, but the Father who always remains in union with me is doing these things Himself.
The Father and I are one."
I have given them the glory which you gave me, so that they may be one, just as we are,
For there is but one God and one intermediary between God and men, the man Christ Jesus
The family tree of Jesus Christ, a descendant of David, a descendant of Abraham.

but when the proper time had come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born subject to law,
And they suddenly screamed, "What do you want of us, you Son of God? Have you come here before the appointed time to torture us?"
"What do you want of us, Jesus, you Nazarene? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, God's Holy One!"
And whenever the foul spirits saw Him, they fell down before Him and screamed, "You are the Son of God."
Even demons came out of many people, shrieking and saying, "You are the Son of God!" But He reproved them and would not let them speak, because they knew that He was the Christ.
But on one occasion the evil spirit answered, "Jesus I know and Paul I know about, but who are you?"
For it has been graciously granted to you for Christ's sake, not only to trust in Him but also to suffer for Him,
For all the time I continue to live I am being given up to death for Jesus' sake, so that in my mortal lower nature the life of Jesus may be clearly shown.
So I most happily boast about my weaknesses, so that the strength of Christ may overshadow me. That is why I take such pleasure in weaknesses, insults, distresses, persecution, and difficulties, which I endure for Christ's sake, for it is when I am consciously weak that I am really strong.
And they suddenly screamed, "What do you want of us, you Son of God? Have you come here before the appointed time to torture us?"

Then I looked, and there was a bright cloud with one seated on it like the Son of man, with a crown of gold on His head and a sharp sickle in His hand.
and among the lampstands One resembling the Son of Man, wearing a robe that reached to His feet, and with a belt of gold around His breast. His head and hair were as white as white wool, as white as snow. His eyes were like coals of fire; His feet were like bronze refined to white heat in a furnace, and His voice was like the roar of many waters.
In His right hand He was holding seven stars, and a sharp, double-edged sword was coming out of His mouth, and His face was shining like the sun at midday.
Then I saw heaven thrown open and a white horse appeared. His rider was called Faithful and True, and in justice He passes judgment and wages war. His eyes were like coals of fire. On His head were many diadems, and on Him a name was written which no one knew but Himself.
But to all who did accept Him, and trust in His name, He gave the right to become the children of God,
"Whoever, as a disciple of mine, welcomes one little child like this, welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me, welcomes not merely me but Him who sent me."
"Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes Him who sent me.
Now as Jesus was returning, the crowd welcomed Him, for they were all expecting Him.
So in haste he came down, and with gladness welcomed Him.
After this, as Jesus knew that everything was now finished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, He said, "I am thirsty."
Before the Passover feast started, Jesus knew that His time had come for Him to leave the world and go to the Father, and as He had loved His own in the world He loved them to the last.
But there are some of you who do not trust in me." For Jesus knew from the start who they were that did not trust in Him, and who it was that was going to betray Him.
For He knew who was going to betray Him; this is why He said, "You are not all clean."
Then Jesus, as He knew everything that was going to befall Him, came forward and asked them, "Who is it that you are looking for?"

Do you think that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not so at all, but rather discord.
And there was a great deal of grumbling about Him among the crowds, some saying that He was a good man, and others that He was not, but was misleading the masses.
So the people were divided because of Him,
Then some of the Pharisees said, "This man does not come from God, for He does not keep the Sabbath." Others said, "How can a sinful man perform such wonder- works?" So there was a difference of opinion among them.
These words again led to a difference of opinion among the Jews.
And if I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw all men to me."
When he came down from the mountain, great crowds followed Him.
On catching a glimpse of Jesus from a distance, he ran up and fell down on his knees before Him,
When Jesus again had crossed in the boat to the other side, a great crowd gathered about Him, as He was standing on the seashore.
The next day, when they had come down from the mountain, a great crowd met Him.
Do you think that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not so at all, but rather discord.

These words again led to a difference of opinion among the Jews.
Some Pharisees came up, and to test Him they began to ask Him whether a man should be allowed to divorce his wife.
They were asking this to trap him so that they might have something to accuse him of. But Jesus stooped and began to write in the dirt with his finger.
Just then an expert in the law got up to test Him by asking, "Teacher, what shall I do to get possession of eternal life?"
But others, to test Him, were demanding from Him a spectacular sign from heaven.
But He detected their cunning, and said to them,
And a woman who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years came up and touched the tassel on His coat. For she kept saying to herself, "If I can only touch His coat, I will get well." And Jesus, on turning and seeing her, said, "Cheer up, my daughter! Your faith has cured you." And from that moment the woman was well.
For He cured so many people that all who had ailments kept crowding up against Him to touch Him.
And they crossed over to the other side and came to Gennesaret. And the men of that place recognized Him, and sent into all the countryside and brought to Him all who were sick, and they continued to beg Him to let them touch just the tassel on His coat, and all who barely touched it were completely cured.
So all the people were trying to touch Him, because power continued to go forth from Him and to cure them all.
After this, as Jesus knew that everything was now finished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, He said, "I am thirsty."

just as the Son of Man has come, not to be served but to serve, and to give His life a ransom price to set many free."
Which one, indeed, is the greater, the guest at the table or the servant who waits on him? Is it not the guest at the table? But I am among you as the servant who waits on you.
got up from the table, took off His outer clothes, and took a towel and tied it around His waist. Then He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel which was around His waist.
but He laid it aside as He took on the nature of a slave and became like other men.
and they went to Philip who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and kept making this request of him, "Sir, we want to see Jesus."
and found Him, and said to Him, "Everybody is looking for you."
As day broke He left the house and went to a lonely spot, and the crowds continued to look for Him; they overtook Him, and tried to keep Him from leaving them.
Now he was trying to see Jesus to find out who He was, but he could not because of the crowd, as he was so small in stature.
So when the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor His disciples were there, they got into boats themselves and went to Capernaum to look for Jesus.
so Christ was offered once for all to take away the sins of many, but again He will appear, without having anything to do with sin, to save those who are eagerly waiting for Him to bring them final salvation.
He bore our sins in His own body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to uprightness. By His wounds you have been healed,
You know that He appeared to take our sins away, and that there is no sin in Him.
for He was teaching them as one who had authority to teach, and not as their scribes did.
Then Jesus came up to them, and said, "Full authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
They were all so dumbfounded that they kept discussing it among themselves, and asking, "What does this mean? It is a new teaching. He gives orders with authority even to foul spirits, and they obey Him."
He has also granted to Him authority to act as Judge because He is the Son of Man.

and be actually in union with Him, not having a supposed right standing with God which depends on my doing what the law commands, but one that comes through faith in Christ, the real right standing with God which originates from Him and rests on faith.
So you owe it all to Him through union with Christ Jesus, whom God has made our wisdom, our means of right standing, our consecration, and our redemption,
For Christ has put an end to law as a way to right standing for everyone who puts his trust in Him.
One of the disciples, whom Jesus specially loved, was sitting very close to Jesus at His right.
Now Jesus held in loving esteem Martha and her sister and Lazarus.
Jesus burst into tears. So the Jews said, "See how tenderly He loved him!"
I no longer call you slaves, because the slave does not know what his master is doing; I now call you friends, because I have told you everything that I have learned from my Father.

I no longer call you slaves, because the slave does not know what his master is doing; I now call you friends, because I have told you everything that I have learned from my Father.
Keep on fostering the same disposition that Christ Jesus had.
For who has ever known the Lord's thoughts, so that he can instruct Him? But we now possess Christ's thoughts.
So then, since Christ has suffered in our physical form, you too must arm yourselves with the same determination. For whoever suffers in his physical form has done with sin,
At that time Jesus said, "I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for concealing these matters from wise and learned men, and for revealing them to little children.
Now when all the people had been baptized, and when Jesus had been baptized and was still praying, heaven opened
When Jesus had said all these things, He lifted His eyes to heaven and said: "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that He may glorify you,
So they slipped the stone aside. And Jesus looked up and said, "Father, I thank you for listening to me;
we heard this voice ourselves borne from heaven while we were with Him on that sacred mountain.
And in their presence His appearance was changed and His face shone like the sun, and His clothes turned as white as light.
Six days after this, Jesus took Peter, James, and John with Him, and led them up on a high mountain, alone by themselves. And in their presence His appearance was changed,
And while He was praying, the look on His face changed, and His clothes turned dazzling white.
After He had suffered, He had shown Himself alive to them, by many convincing proofs, appearing to them through a period of forty days, and telling them the things about the kingdom of God.
So off they went and made the tomb secure by sealing the boulder and setting a guard.
On saying this, He showed them His hands and His side, and the disciples were thrilled with joy over seeing their Lord.
Look at my hands and my feet, for it is I, myself. Feel of me and see for yourselves, for a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have."
No one has God, who goes too far and fails to stay by the teaching of Christ. Whoever stays by this teaching has the Father and the Son.
When Jesus had closed this address, the result was that the crowds were dumbfounded at His teaching,
He continued teaching them by many stories. In His teaching He spoke to them as follows:
Jesus answered them, "My teaching is not my own, but it comes from Him who sent me.
When they reached the city, they went to the room upstairs where they had been staying; they were: Peter and John, James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alpheus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James.
Here are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon, who was named Peter, and his brother Andrew, James the son of Zebedee and his brother John,
Simon whom he named Peter, his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew,
The Twelve whom He appointed were: Peter, the name which He gave to Simon,
But when it was evening, His disciples came to Him and said, "This is a destitute place, and the day is over; send the crowds off to the villages to buy themselves food."
Then He took the five loaves and the two fish and looked up to heaven and blessed the loaves and broke them in pieces and gave the pieces to the disciples to pass on to the people. He also divided the two fish among them all.
As the day began to decline, the Twelve came up and said to Him, "Send the crowd off to the villages and farms around, to get lodging and to find food there, for we are in a destitute place here."
So Jesus looked up and saw that a vast crowd was coming toward Him, and said to Philip, "Where can we buy bread for these people to eat?"
But He would not trust Himself to them, because He knew all men
Now we know that you know everything and do not need that anyone should ask you questions. For this reason we believe that you have come from God."
For the third time Jesus asked him, "Simon, son of John, do you really tenderly love me?" Peter was hurt because Jesus the third time asked him, "Do you really tenderly love me?" So he answered Him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I do tenderly love you." Jesus said to him, "Then feed my sheep.
And they prayed, saying, "Lord, you who know the hearts of all, show us which one of these two men you have chosen
Then He left there and went into the neighborhood of Tyre and Sidon. He went into a house and wanted no one to know that He was there. But He could not escape public notice.
And Simon and his companions diligently searched for Him
And again the crowds gathered so that it was not possible for them even to take their meals.
But many people saw them start and knew of it and ran around the lake from all the towns and got there ahead of them.
When He saw the crowds, His heart was moved with pity for them, because they were tired and scattered like sheep without a shepherd.
So when He got out of the boat and saw a great crowd, His heart was moved with pity for them, and He cured their sick people.
Then Jesus called His disciples to Him, and said, "My heart is moved with pity for the crowd, for it is now three days they have been staying with me, and they have nothing at all left to eat, and I fear they might give out on the way home."
Now the main point in what I am saying is this: We have such a High Priest as this, one who has taken His seat at the right hand of God's majestic throne in heaven
But when Christ came as the High Priest of good things that have already taken place, He went by way of that greater and more perfect tent of worship, not made by human hands, that is, not belonging to this material creation,
and since in Him we have a Great Priest over the house of God,
For the life-giving power of the Spirit through union with Christ Jesus has set us free from the power of sin and death.
This is the freedom with which Christ has made us free. So keep on standing in it, and stop letting your necks be fastened in the yoke of slavery again.
Now He was driving a dumb demon out of a man, and when the demon went out of him, the dumb man spoke. The crowds were astonished.
For I am not proclaiming myself but Christ Jesus as Lord, and myself a slave of yours for Jesus' sake.
For we have become a spectacle to the universe, to angels as well as men. For Christ's sake we are held as fools, while you through union with Christ are men of wisdom. We are weak; you are strong. You are held in honor; we in dishonor.
"The virgin will become pregnant and have a son, and they will call Him Immanuel" -- which means "God with us."
And the passers-by kept hissing at Him, shaking their heads
Let the Christ, the king of Israel, come down now from the cross, so that we may see it and believe!" Even the men who were crucified with Him made sport of Him.
Now one of the criminals who were hanging from their crosses kept abusing Him, saying, "Are you not the Christ? Then save yourself and us too!"
Just before day He went out to them, walking on the sea.
But when they saw Him walking on the sea, they thought that it was a ghost and screamed aloud,
When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat, and they were terror-stricken.
The next day, when they had come down from the mountain, a great crowd met Him.
When they reached the crowd, a man came up to Him, kneeling before Him and saying,
Then it gave a shriek and violently convulsed the boy, and got out of him. And the boy looked like a corpse, so much so that the people said that he was dead.
They were all so dumbfounded that they kept discussing it among themselves, and asking, "What does this mean? It is a new teaching. He gives orders with authority even to foul spirits, and they obey Him."
And the men were dumbfounded, and said, "What sort of man is this, for even the winds and the sea obey Him!"
The Father loves His Son and has put everything in His hands.
When He went into Peter's house, He saw his mother-in-law lying in bed sick with fever.
Then He went up to her, grasped her hand, and had her get up. The fever left her, and she began to wait upon them.
Then He rose to leave the synagogue, and He went to Simon's house. And Simon's mother-in-law was in the grip of a burning fever; so they asked Him about her.
And just as He was saying these things to them, an official came up and fell on his knees before Him, and said, "My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand upon her and she will come to life."
And the little girl at once got up and started walking around, for she was twelve years old. And instantly they were completely dumbfounded.
Just then a man named Jairus came up, who had long been leader of the synagogue. He fell down at Jesus' feet and persisted in begging Him to come to his house,
And He said to them, "Why are you afraid, O you with little faith?" Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.
So they came to Him and woke Him up, and said, "Master, Master, we are perishing? Then He aroused Himself and reproved the wind and the surge of the water, and they stopped at once and instantly there came a calm.
Then He aroused Himself and reproved the wind, and said to the sea, "Hush! Be still." And the wind lulled, and there was a great calm.
And a woman who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years came up and touched the tassel on His coat.
Then a woman who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years,
Then a woman who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years, who could not be cured by anybody,
For just as the man who builds a house has greater glory than the house, by just so much is Jesus judged to be worthy of greater glory than Moses.
Father, I want to have those whom you have given me right where I am, in order that they may see the glory which you have given me, because you loved me before the creation of the world.
So now, Father, glorify me up there in your presence just as you did before the world existed.
He is not here; He has risen, as He said He would do. Come, get a look at the place where He was lying.
But he said to them, "You must not be so astounded; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth who was crucified. He has risen; He is not here. See! Here is the spot where they laid Him.
[He is not here but has risen.] Remember what He told you while He was still in Galilee, when
Is He not the carpenter, Mary's son, and the brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And do not His sisters live here among us?" And so they found a cause for stumbling over him.
Then all the people in the synagogue, on hearing these things, were filled with fury, and they rose up and drove Him out of town and took Him to the brow of the hill on which their town was built, to hurl Him down the cliff.
But first He has to endure much suffering, and be disowned by this age.
Now when all the people had been baptized, and when Jesus had been baptized and was still praying, heaven opened
Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John to be baptized by him.
Now in those days Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
So when he gets his sheep all out, he goes on before them, and the sheep come on behind him, because they know his voice.
My sheep listen to my voice, and I know them and they follow me,
I have other sheep too that do not belong to this fold. I must lead them too, and they will listen to my voice, and all my sheep will become one flock with one shepherd.
When He reached the other side, in the district of Gadara, there faced Him two men, who were under the power of demons, who were just coming out from the tombs. They were such terrors that nobody could pass that way.
So they landed on the other side of the sea in the region of Gerasa.
They landed in the neighborhood of Gerasa, which is just across the lake from Galilee.
Then He put out His hand and touched him, and said, "I do choose to; be cured." And at once his leprosy was cured.
And His heart was moved with pity for him, so He stretched out His hand and touched him, and said, "I do want to! Be cured!"
So He reached out His hand and touched him, saying, "I do choose to; be cured." And at once the leprosy left him.
Now there was a man there with one hand withered. And, to get a charge against Him, they asked Him, "Is it right to cure people on the sabbath?"
Then He went into a synagogue again, and a man was there who had a withered hand.
On another Sabbath He found Himself in the synagogue teaching; and there was there a man whose right hand was withered.
but He said to me, "My spiritual strength is sufficient, for it is only by means of conscious weakness that perfect power is developed."
But in accordance with the measure of Christ's gift, His favor has been bestowed upon each one of us.
Jesus answered him, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
Then Pilate said to Him, "So you are a king then?" Jesus answered, "Certainly I am a king. For this very purpose I was born, for this very purpose I have come into the world, to testify for truth. Everybody who is a friend of truth listens to my voice."
So the Word became human and lived a little while among us, and we actually saw His glory, the glory of One who is an only Son from His Father, and He was full of spiritual blessing and truth.
And all at once some men were bringing to Him a paralyzed man, lying on a couch. And because He saw their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, "Cheer up, my child, your sins are forgiven."
Then four men came bringing to Him a paralyzed man.
Now some men were carrying on a bed a man who was paralyzed, and they were trying to get him in and lay him before Jesus.
Whoever persistently rejects me and refuses to accept my teachings has something to judge him -- the very message I have spoken will judge him on the last day.
He came into His own world, but His own people did not welcome Him.
I have come in my Father's name, but you refuse to accept me. If anyone else should come in his own name, you would accept him.
So when He got out of the boat and saw a great crowd, His heart was moved with pity for them, and He cured their sick people.
Then Jesus left there and went to the shore of the sea of Galilee. Then He went up the hill and kept sitting there, and great crowds came up to Him bringing with them the lame, the crippled, the blind, the deaf, and many others. They laid them at His feet, and He cured them, so that the crowd was astonished to see the dumb talking, the lame walking, and the blind seeing. So they praised the God of Israel.
So if we have already been brought into right standing with God by Christ's death, it is much more certain that by Him we shall be saved from God's wrath.
For God appointed us not to reap His wrath but to gain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
So you, my son, must keep renewing your strength in the spiritual blessing that comes through union with Christ Jesus.
The spiritual blessing of the Lord Jesus be with His people.
I have been crucified with Christ, and I myself no longer live, but Christ is living in me; the life I now live as a mortal man I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.
and practice living in love, just as Christ loved you too and gave Himself for you as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
He asked, "Who are you, sir?" And He said, "I am Jesus whom you are persecuting.
He was seen by me, too, as though I were born out of time.
and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the glorious crown that never fades.
because the Lamb who is in the center of the throne will be their Shepherd, and God will wipe every tear from their eyes."
Jesus said to them: "I solemnly say to you, in the new order of life, when the Son of Man shall take His seat on His glorious throne, you too, who have followed me, will sit on twelve thrones, and judge the twelve tribes of Israel.
And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the nations of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky in overwhelming power and splendor.
Then Jesus came and touched them, and said, "Get up and do not be so afraid."
Then Jesus' heart was moved with pity, and He touched their blinded eyes, and at once they could see again, and followed Him.
Then He went up and touched the hearse and the bearers stopped; and He said, "Young man, I tell you, arise." Then the dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.
On saying this, He shouted aloud, "Lazarus, come out!" Then out came the dead man, his feet and hands tied with wrappings, and his face tied up with a handkerchief. Jesus said to them, "Untie him and let him go."
Then Jesus said to them, "Did you never read in the Scriptures: 'That stone which the builders threw away has become the cornerstone; this is the work of the Lord and seems wonderful to us!'
And suddenly all the town turned out to meet Jesus, and as soon as they saw Him, they begged Him to move on and leave their neighborhood.
The people whom I dearly love, I always reprove and discipline. So keep on being earnest and once for all repent.
Then Jesus said, "Let her alone; let her keep it for the day of my funeral,
but has only recently been made known through the appearance of our Saviour Christ Jesus, who through the good news has put a stop to the power of death, and brought life and immortality to light.
and that life has been unveiled to us, and we have seen it and now testify to it and we now announce it to you, yea, the eternal life that was with the Father and has been unveiled to us.
Whoever does not really love me does not observe my teaching; and yet the teaching which you are listening to is not mine but comes from the Father who has sent me.
If anyone teaches different doctrines and refuses to agree with the wholesome messages of our Lord Jesus Christ, the teaching that is in accordance with true religion,
Therefore, my Christian brothers, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the Messenger and High Priest whom we profess to follow,
Therefore He had to be made like His brothers, so that He could be a sympathetic High Priest, as well as a faithful one, in things relating to God, in order to atone for the people's sins.
Then they came to Jericho. And as He was leaving Jericho, with His disciples and a great crowd, Timeus' son, Bartimeus, a blind beggar, was sitting on the roadside.
As Jesus was passing along from there, two blind men followed Him, shouting, "Do pity us, O Son of David!"
And two blind men sitting by the roadside heard that Jesus was passing and cried out, "Do pity us, Lord, you Son of David!"
At that time some people brought to Him a man under the power of demons, who was blind and dumb, and He cured him, so that the dumb man could talk and see.
But at the very time they were going out, some people brought to Him a dumb man, who was under the power of a demon,
Now He was driving a dumb demon out of a man, and when the demon went out of him, the dumb man spoke. The crowds were astonished.
But He did not answer him a single word, so that the governor was dumbfounded beyond expression.
And the high priests kept piling up accusations against Him.
On the contrary, a woman, whose little daughter had a foul spirit, at once heard about Him and came and flung herself at His feet.
And a Canaanite woman of that district came out and pleaded, saying, "Do pity me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is suffering horrors from a demon."
Then Jesus called His disciples to Him, and said, "My heart is moved with pity for the crowd, for it is now three days they have been staying with me, and they have nothing at all left to eat, and I fear they might give out on the way home."
And they ate and had plenty. And they took up the pieces left over, which made seven hamper-basketfuls.
I in union with them and you in union with me, so that they may be perfectly united, and the world may be sure that you sent me and that you have loved them just as you have loved me.
But if Christ lives in you, although your bodies must die because of sin, your spirits are now enjoying life because of right standing with God.
proved to be God's Son in power by the resurrection from the dead -- I mean, Jesus Christ, our Lord,
He is the reflection of God's glory and the perfect representation of His being, and continues to uphold the universe by His mighty word. After He had procured man's purification from sins, He took His seat at the right hand of God's majesty,
For we have found this man a perfect pest and a distributor of the peace among the Jews throughout the world. He is a ringleader in the sect of the Nazarenes;
He went to a town called Nazareth and made his home there, so that the saying of the prophet was fulfilled: "He shall be called a Nazarene."
Thomas answered Him, "My Lord and my God!"
And people were bringing little children to Him for Him to touch them, but the disciples reproved them for it.
Then He took the little children into His arms, and as He laid His hands upon them one by one, He tenderly blessed them.
for He must continue to be king until He puts all His enemies under His feet. Death is the last enemy to be stopped,
For you will not forsake my soul to Hades. Nor will you let your Holy One experience decay.
He first found his brother Simon and said to him, "We have found the Messiah" (which means, the Christ).
Then He said to them, "O men sluggish in mind and slow in heart to believe all that the prophets have said!
Then Jesus answered, "O you unbelieving, stubborn people of the times! How long must I be with you and put up with you? Bring him here to me."
Now when the Lord saw her, His heart was moved with pity for her, and so He said to her, "Stop weeping."
Jesus burst into tears.
When He got back to Capernaum, a Roman military captain came up to Him and kept begging Him,
There was a Roman captain who had a slave that was very dear to him, and he was sick and at the point of death,
[He is not here but has risen.] Remember what He told you while He was still in Galilee, when
No one has taken it from me, but I am giving it as a free gift. I have the right to give it and I have the right to take it back. I have gotten this order from my Father."
And He said to them, "What sort of things?" They answered Him, "The things about Jesus of Nazareth, who in the sight of God and of all the people became a prophet mighty in deed and word,
Moses, indeed, said: 'The Lord God will raise up a prophet for you from among your brothers, as He did me. You must attentively listen to everything that He tells you.
Many of them said, "He is under the power of a demon and is going crazy. Why are you listening to Him?"
The crowd answered, "You are certainly under the power of a demon! Who is trying to kill you?"
So He took him off from the crowd by himself and put His fingers in his ears and touched his tongue with saliva.
And his ears were opened and his tongue was untied, and he began to speak distinctly.
and He has made a mighty Saviour for us in the house of His servant David,
for my eyes have seen your Salvation,
Then the foul spirit convulsed him and with a deafening shriek got out of him.
But Jesus reproved him, saying "Be quiet! Get out of him at once!" So the demon threw the man down in the midst of them and came out of him without doing him any harm.
And the child continued to grow and gain in strength; He continued to increase in wisdom, and the spiritual blessing of God was on Him.
For while the law was given through Moses, spiritual blessing and truth have come through Jesus Christ.
It was by Him that life began to exist, and that life was the light of mankind.
For just as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted to the Son to have life in Himself.
This is the way the Scripture puts it too, "The first man Adam became a living creature." The last Adam has become a life-giving Spirit.
For the love of Christ continuously constrains me, because I am convinced that as One died for all, all have died,
for no one can lay any other foundation than the one that is laid, that is, Jesus Christ Himself.
After that, at one time He was seen by more than five hundred brothers, most of whom are still living, though some of them have fallen asleep.
Then He was seen by James, then by all the apostles, and finally
that He was buried, that on the third day He was raised from the dead, in accordance with the Scriptures,
For if anybody is in union with Christ, he is the work of a new creation; the old condition has passed away, a new condition has come.
for no one can lay any other foundation than the one that is laid, that is, Jesus Christ Himself.
For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the good news -- but not by means of wisdom and rhetoric, so that the cross of Christ may not be emptied of its power.
and all drank the same spiritual drink -- for they continued to drink the water from the spiritual Rock which accompanied them, and that Rock was the Christ --
and that He was seen by Cephas, and then by the Twelve.
God is entirely trustworthy, and it is He through whom you have been called into this fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
and that Christ in His love, through your faith, may make His permanent home in your hearts. You must be deeply rooted, your foundations must be strong, so that you with all God's people may be strong enough to grasp the idea of the breadth and length, the height and depth, yes, to come at last to know the love of Christ, although it far surpasses human understanding, so that you may be filled with the perfect fullness of God.
For by experience you know the unmerited favor shown by our Lord Jesus Christ; that although He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, in order that by His poverty you might become rich.
I am always thanking Christ Jesus our Lord who has given me strength for it, for thinking me trustworthy and putting me into the ministry, though I once used to abuse, persecute, and insult Him. But mercy was shown me by Him, because I did it in ignorance and unbelief,
In their case, the god of this world has blinded the eyes of the unbelievers, to keep the glorious light of the good news of Christ, who is the likeness of God, from dawning upon them.
"I, Jesus, sent my angel to bear this testimony to you for the churches. I belong to the line and family of David; I am the bright morning star."
"I, Jesus, sent my angel to bear this testimony to you for the churches. I belong to the line and family of David; I am the bright morning star."
Then the high priest arose and said to Him, "Have you no answer to make? What do you say to the evidence that they bring against you?" But Jesus kept silent. So the high priest said to Him, "I charge you, on your oath, in the name of the living God, tell us whether you are the Christ, the Son of God."
For there are many, of whom I have often told you, and now tell you in tears, who practice living as the enemies of the cross of Christ.
So when I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. But He laid His right hand upon me and said: "Do not be afraid any more. I am the First and the Last;
Then He touched their eyes, and said, "In accordance with your faith it must be done for you." And their eyes received strength to see. Then Jesus sternly charged them, "See that nobody knows it."
I am now standing at the door and knocking. If anyone listens to my voice and opens the door, I will be his guest and feast with him, and he with me.
"To the messenger of the church in Laodicea write: 'The Amen, the true and faithful witness, the origin of God's creation, speaks as follows:

His feet were like bronze refined to white heat in a furnace, and His voice was like the roar of many waters.
yea, the ever-living One. I once was dead, but now I live forever and ever. I carry the keys of death and the underworld.
Since then we have in Jesus, the Son of God, a great High Priest who has gone right up to heaven itself, let us continue to keep a firm hold on our profession of faith in Him. For we do not have a High Priest who is incapable of sympathizing with us in our weaknesses, but we have One who was tempted in every respect as we are, and yet without committing any sin.
and be actually in union with Him, not having a supposed right standing with God which depends on my doing what the law commands, but one that comes through faith in Christ, the real right standing with God which originates from Him and rests on faith.
to whom God has chosen to make known how glorious are the riches of this open secret among the heathen, namely, Christ in you the hope of your glorification.
I am now standing at the door and knocking. If anyone listens to my voice and opens the door, I will be his guest and feast with him, and he with me.
Yes, indeed, I certainly do count everything as loss compared with the priceless privilege of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake I have lost everything, and value it all as mere refuse, in order to gain Christ
canceled the note that stood against us, with its requirements, and has put it out of our way by nailing it to the cross.
saying in a loud voice: "The Lamb that was slaughtered deserves to receive power, riches, wisdom, might, honor, glory, and blessing."
So when I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. But He laid His right hand upon me and said: "Do not be afraid any more. I am the First and the Last;
and that through Him He might reconcile to Himself all things on earth or in heaven, making this peace through the blood He shed On His cross.
All the inhabitants of the earth whose names, from the foundation of the world, have not been written in the slaughtered Lamb's book of life, will worship him.
which will be brought about in His own time by the blessed, only Sovereign, the King of kings, the Lord of lords,
which will be brought about in His own time by the blessed, only Sovereign, the King of kings, the Lord of lords,
And so He has put all things under His feet and made Him the supreme Head of the church,
And so He has put all things under His feet and made Him the supreme Head of the church,
For I have full assurance that neither death nor life nor angels nor principalities nor the present nor the future nor evil forces above or beneath, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God as shown in Christ Jesus our Lord.
"I know what you are doing. See! I have put before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have but little strength, and yet you have obeyed my message and you have not disowned my name.
I have been crucified with Christ, and I myself no longer live, but Christ is living in me; the life I now live as a mortal man I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.
to reconcile them both to God with His cross after He had killed the hostility through it.
To the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever! Amen.
and from Jesus Christ the trustworthy witness, the First-born of the dead, and the Sovereign of the kings of the earth. To Him who ever loves us and once for all released us from our sins by His blood,

But may it never be mine to boast of anything but the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me and I to the world!
"I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, who is and was and is to come, the Almighty.
and great crowds came up to Him bringing with them the lame, the crippled, the blind, the deaf, and many others. They laid them at His feet, and He cured them,
And He Himself withdrew about a stone's throw from them, and after kneeling down He continued to pray, "Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me. Yet, not my will but always yours be done!"
For wherever two or three have met as my disciples, I am right there with them."
I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you forbid on earth must be what is already forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth must be what is already permitted in heaven."
Come to me, all of you who toil and carry burdens, and I, yes, I, will lead you into rest.
It was just after that that Jesus Christ for the first time clearly taught His disciples that He had to go to Jerusalem and submit to many forms of suffering at the hands of the elders, high priests, and scribes, and be killed, but be raised to life on the third day.
And He took Peter and Zebedee's two sons along with Him and He began to give way to His grief and distress of heart.
and teach them to practice all the commands that I have given you. And I myself will surely be with you all the days, down to the very close of an age."
and as soon as they saw Him, they fell down and worshiped Him, though some were in doubt about it.
May God, who gives us peace, who brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, who through the blood by which He ratified the everlasting covenant, is now the Great Shepherd of the sheep,
"If you really love me, you will keep my commands. And I will ask I will ask the Father and He will give you another Helper, to remain with you to the end of the age;
Then He walked on a few steps and threw Himself upon His face, and in this attitude continued to pray, and say, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass by me; and yet, I pray, not what I want but what you want."
Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
This is why the Father loves me, because I am giving my own life to take it back again. No one has taken it from me, but I am giving it as a free gift. I have the right to give it and I have the right to take it back. I have gotten this order from my Father."
Then Jesus answered her, "O woman, wonderful is your faith! You must have what you want." And her daughter was cured at that very moment.
Then Jesus answered her, "O woman, wonderful is your faith! You must have what you want." And her daughter was cured at that very moment.
and they continued to beg Him to let them touch just the tassel on His coat, and all who barely touched it were completely cured.
And everyone who has given up home or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or farms, for my sake, will receive many times as much, and in addition will be in possession of eternal life.
Then Jesus' heart was moved with pity, and He touched their blinded eyes, and at once they could see again, and followed Him.
"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem! The city that has kept on murdering the prophets, and stoning those who have been sent to her, how often I have yearned to gather your children around me, as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, but you refused!
Anybody who gains his lower life will lose the higher life, and anybody who loses his lower life for my sake will gain the higher life.
And you will be hated by all men, because you bear my name, but whoever bears up to the end will be saved.
As He saw a fig tree by the roadside, He came to it but found on it nothing but leaves, and said to it, "Never again shall a fig grow on you!" And the fig tree at once withered up.
When they reached Capernaum, the collectors of the temple tax came to Peter and asked, "Does your Teacher pay the temple tax?"
Practice bearing one another's burdens, and in this way carry out the law of Christ.
Put on my yoke, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls,
and practice living in love, just as Christ loved you too and gave Himself for you as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
One day he found a very costly pearl, and he went and sold all he had and bought it.
For the Son of Man is going to come in His Father's splendor, with His angels, and then He will pay back to everyone in accordance with what he has done.
And the crowds kept saying, "He is the prophet Jesus of Nazareth in Galilee."
"Here is my Servant whom I have chosen, My Beloved, in whom my soul delights itself. I will endow Him with my Spirit, and He will announce a judgment to the heathen.
For there is but one God and one intermediary between God and men, the man Christ Jesus
Then Jesus came up to them, and said, "Full authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
The Son of Man came eating and drinking with others, and they say, 'Just look at Him! A glutton and a wine-drinker, a chum of tax-collectors and notorious sinners!' And yet wisdom is vindicated by her doings!"
Then the high priest tore his clothes, and said, "He has uttered blasphemy, What more evidence do we need? You have just heard His blasphemy.
And a man named Jairus, a leader of a synagogue, came up, and when he saw Jesus he flung himself at His feet and kept earnestly begging Him, saying, "My dear little daughter is at the point of death. Come, lay your hands on her, so that she may get well and live."
There was a woman in the town who was a social outcast, and when she learned that He was taking dinner at the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster bottle of perfume and took her stand behind Him at His feet, continually weeping. Then she began to wet His feet with her tears, but she continued to wipe them off with the hair of her head, and she kept right on kissing His feet with affection and anointing them with the perfume.
He touched her hand, the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on Him.
But the news about Him continued to spread, and great crowds were gathering to hear Him and to be cured of their diseases. But Jesus Himself continued His habit of retiring to lonely spots and praying.
After He had told them "Goodbye," He went up the hill to pray. Now when evening had come, the boat was in the middle of the sea, while He was alone on land.
Therefore, because He Himself lives always to intercede for them always, He is able to save completely any and all who come to God through Him.
So Jesus said to the Twelve, "You too do not want to go back, do you?" Simon Peter answered Him, "To whom can we go, Lord? You have the message that gives eternal life,
And just as Moses in the desert lifted the serpent on the pole, the Son of Man must be lifted up, so that everyone who trusts in Him may have eternal life.
Then Jesus met them Himself, and said, "Good morning!" And they went up to Him and clasped His feet, and worshiped Him.
for once you were going astray like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of Your souls.
Stop being surprised at this, for the time is coming when all that are in the graves will listen to His voice, and those who have done good will come out for a resurrection to life, but those who have done evil for a resurrection to condemnation.
so Christ was offered once for all to take away the sins of many, but again He will appear, without having anything to do with sin, to save those who are eagerly waiting for Him to bring them final salvation.
When Jesus heard it, He was astounded, and said to His followers, "I solemnly say to you, I have not found, in a single case among the Jews, so great faith as this.
After He had gone into the house, and the blind men had gone up to Him, Jesus said to them, "Do you really believe that I can do this?" They said to Him, "Yes, Lord."
And just as He was saying these things to them, an official came up and fell on his knees before Him, and said, "My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand upon her and she will come to life."
"Blessed are you when people abuse you, and persecute you, and keep on falsely telling all sorts of evil against you for my sake.
(6:19) where Jesus has blazed the way for us and became a High Priest with the rank of Melchizedek.
For we needed such a High Priest, holy, innocent, unstained, far removed from sinful men, and elevated far above the very heavens,
who has gone to heaven and is now at God's right hand, with angels, heavenly authorities and powers made subject to Him.
Now a man was sick; it was Lazarus who lived in Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. It was the Mary who poured the perfume upon the Lord and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick. So the sisters sent this message to Jesus, "Lord, listen! the one you love so well is sick."
When Jesus received the message, He said, "This sickness is not to end in death but is to honor God, that the Son of God through it may be honored." Now Jesus held in loving esteem Martha and her sister and Lazarus. But when He heard that Lazarus was sick, He stayed over for two days in the place where He was. After that He said to His disciples, "Let us go back to Judea." The disciples said to Him, "Teacher, the Jews just now were trying to stone you, and are you going back there again?" Jesus answered, "Does not the day have twelve hours? If a man travels in the daytime, he does not stumble, for he can see the light of this world; but if he travels in the nighttime, he does stumble, because he has no light." He said this, and after that He added, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I am going there to wake him." The disciples said to Him, "Lord, if he has merely fallen asleep, he will recover." But Jesus had spoken about his death. However, they supposed that He was referring to falling into a natural sleep. So Jesus then told them plainly: "Lazarus is dead, and I am glad for your sake that I was not there so that you may come to have real faith in me. But let us go to him." Then Thomas the Twin said to his fellow-disciples, "Let us go too, and die with Him." When Jesus reached there, He found that Lazarus had been buried for four days. Now Bethany is only about two miles from Jerusalem, and a goodly number of Jews had come out to see Martha and Mary, to sympathize with them over their brother. When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet Him, but Mary stayed at home. Then Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that whatever you ask God for He will give you." Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again." Martha said to Him, "I know that he will rise at the resurrection, on the last day." Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life myself. Whoever continues to believe in me will live right on even though he dies, and no person who continues to live and believe in me will ever die at all. Do you believe this?" She said to Him, "Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world." On saying this she went back and called her sister Mary, whispering to her, "The Teacher is here and is asking for you." As soon as she heard it, she jumped up and started to Jesus, for He had not yet come into the village, but He was still at the place where Martha had met Him. So the Jews who were with her in the house sympathizing with her, when they saw Mary jump up and go out, followed her, because they supposed that she was going to the grave to pour out her grief there. When Mary came where Jesus was and saw Him, she threw herself at His feet, and said, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died." So when Jesus saw her weeping and the Jews who had come with her weeping too, He sighed in sympathy and shook with emotion, and asked, "Where have you laid him?" They answered, "Lord, come and see." Jesus burst into tears. So the Jews said, "See how tenderly He loved him!" But some of them said, "Could not this man, who made that blind man see, have kept Lazarus from dying?" Now Jesus sighed again and continued to sigh as He went to the grave. It was a cave with a stone lying over the mouth of it. Jesus said, "Slip the stone aside." The dead man's sister, Martha, said to Him, "Lord, by this time he is offensive, for he has been dead four days." Jesus said to her, "Did I not promise you that if you would believe in me, you should see the glory of God?" So they slipped the stone aside. And Jesus looked up and said, "Father, I thank you for listening to me; yes, I knew that you always listen to me. But I have said this for the sake of the crowd that is standing by, that they may come to believe that you have sent me." On saying this, He shouted aloud, "Lazarus, come out!" Then out came the dead man, his feet and hands tied with wrappings, and his face tied up with a handkerchief. Jesus said to them, "Untie him and let him go."
But He turned at once and reproved them. Then they went on to a different village.
When He saw the crowds, His heart was moved with pity for them, because they were tired and scattered like sheep without a shepherd.
While He was at table in the house many tax-collectors and notorious sinners came in and took their seats at table with Jesus and His disciples.
(6:19) where Jesus has blazed the way for us and became a High Priest with the rank of Melchizedek.
he stayed there until Herod's death, so as to fulfill what the Lord had said by the prophet, "Out of Egypt I called my Son."
And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes, even wild birds have roosts, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head."
and so in that way all Israel will be saved, just as the Scripture says: "From Zion the Deliverer will come; He will remove ungodliness from Jacob;
He went to a town called Nazareth and made his home there, so that the saying of the prophet was fulfilled: "He shall be called a Nazarene."
And she will have a son, and you must name Him Jesus, for it is He who is to save His people from their sins."
And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, "Why does your Teacher eat with tax-collectors and notorious sinners?"
keeping our eyes on Jesus, the perfect leader and example of faith, who, instead of the joy which lay before Him, endured the cross with no regard for its shame, and since has taken His seat at the right hand of the throne of God.
Then He put out His hand and touched him, and said, "I do choose to; be cured." And at once his leprosy was cured.
We know what love is from the fact that He laid down His life for us; and so we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.
Who can separate us from Christ's love? Can suffering or misfortune or persecution or hunger or destitution or danger or the sword?
who can condemn them? Christ Jesus who died, or rather, who was raised from the dead, is now at God's right hand, and is actually pleading for us.
and because He was perfectly qualified for it He became the author of endless salvation for all who obey Him,
And a leper came up to Him, and prostrated himself before Him, and said, "Lord, if you choose to, you can cure me."
So Christ too did not take upon Himself the glory of being appointed High Priest, but it was God who said: "You are my Son; I have today become your Father,"
Whoever practices obedience to His commands remains in union with Him and He in union with him; and in this way we know that He remains in union with us, by the Spirit that He has given us.
Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son does not have life.
so that just as sin had reigned by death, so His favor too might reign in right standing with God which issues in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
So to you who put your trust in Him the honor belongs, but to those who fail to trust Him: "That stone which then the builders threw away Has now become the cornerstone,"
and because He was perfectly qualified for it He became the author of endless salvation for all who obey Him,
Therefore, my Christian brothers, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the Messenger and High Priest whom we profess to follow,
and asked, "Where is He that is born King of the Jews? We saw His star when it rose and have come to worship Him."
The family tree of Jesus Christ, a descendant of David, a descendant of Abraham.
But to show you that the Son of Man has authority to forgive sins on earth" -- turning to the paralyzed man, He said to Him -- "Get up, pick up your bed, and go home."
'And you, Bethlehem in Judah's land, You are not at all the least among the leading places of Judah, for out of you will come a ruler, who will shepherd my people Israel.'"
She had a sister named Mary who took her seat at the Lord's feet, and remained listening to His message.
When Mary came where Jesus was and saw Him, she threw herself at His feet, and said, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died."
But Jesus said, "Permit me to go as far as this!" So He touched his ear and healed him.
But Mary stood just outside the tomb and kept weeping. So, as she was weeping, she stooped down and peered into the tomb
No one can show greater love than this, the giving of his life for his friends.
And as they were talking, and discussing these things, Jesus Himself came up near to them and continued to walk with them,
I repeat, it is what we have seen and heard that we now announce to you, so that you too may share this fellowship with us, for this fellowship that we have is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ;
Then they said to each other, "Did not our hearts keep burning in our bosoms as He was talking to us on the road, as He went on explaining the Scriptures to us?"
Later on He appeared to the Eleven themselves while they were at table, and reproved them for their lack of faith and their stubbornness, because they had not believed those who had seen Him after He had been raised from the dead.
Listen! I have given you power to tread on snakes and scorpions, and to trample on all the power of the enemy, and nothing at all will ever harm you.
and I give to them eternal life, and they shall never get lost, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand.
I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how I am pressed with anguish till it is accomplished!
And I will ask I will ask the Father and He will give you another Helper, to remain with you to the end of the age;
but I have prayed especially for you that your own faith may not utterly fail. And you yourself, after you have turned, must strengthen your brothers."
They drew lots to divide His clothes among them.
Look at my hands and my feet, for it is I, myself. Feel of me and see for yourselves, for a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have."
Then Thomas the Twin said to his fellow-disciples, "Let us go too, and die with Him."
Jesus again said to him a second time, "Simon, son of John, are you really devoted to me?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I tenderly love you." Jesus said to him, "Then be a shepherd to my sheep."
Then Paul answered, "What do you mean by crying and breaking my heart? Why, I am ready not only to be bound at Jerusalem but to die there for the sake of the Lord Jesus."
I in union with them and you in union with me, so that they may be perfectly united, and the world may be sure that you sent me and that you have loved them just as you have loved me.
and I give to them eternal life, and they shall never get lost, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand.
Then He led them out as far as Bethany, and lifted up His hands and blessed them.
In the evening of that same first day of the week, even with the doors of the room bolted where the disciples had met for fear of the Jews, Jesus went in and stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you!"
Just a week later the disciples were in the room again and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were bolted, Jesus came in and stood among them, and said, "Peace be with you!"
Even while they were talking about these things, He took His stand among them Himself, [and said to them, "Peace to you!"]
And as they were talking, and discussing these things, Jesus Himself came up near to them and continued to walk with them,
I am the good shepherd myself. The good shepherd gives his own life for his sheep.

Only you must practice living lives that are worthy of the good news, so that whether I come and see you or stay away, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, and that with one purpose you are continuing to cooperate in the fight for faith in the good news.
Who among you is wise and intelligent? Let him show by his noble living that his good deeds are done in humility, which wisdom prompts.
If all these things are to be dissolved in this way, what men you ought to be! What holy and pious lives you ought to lead,
so that you may live influentially with the outsiders, and not be dependent on anybody.
and no person who continues to live and believe in me will ever die at all. Do you believe this?"
but has only recently been made known through the appearance of our Saviour Christ Jesus, who through the good news has put a stop to the power of death, and brought life and immortality to light.
So He said to him, "I solemnly say to you, this very day you will be in paradise with me."
I most solemnly say to you, if anyone follows my teaching, he will never experience death."
And Elijah appeared to them, accompanied by Moses, and they were talking with Jesus.
He is not the God of dead but of living people! You are entirely wrong in your views."
You are the light of the world. A city that is built upon a hill cannot be hidden.
No one lights a lamp and puts it in a cellar or under a peck-measure, but he puts it on the lampstand, that the people who come in may enjoy the light.
For it seems to me that God has put us apostles on exhibition at the disgraced end of the procession, as they do with men who are doomed to die in the arena.
but has only recently been made known through the appearance of our Saviour Christ Jesus, who through the good news has put a stop to the power of death, and brought life and immortality to light.
and that life has been unveiled to us, and we have seen it and now testify to it and we now announce it to you, yea, the eternal life that was with the Father and has been unveiled to us.
It was by Him that life began to exist, and that life was the light of mankind.
For just as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted to the Son to have life in Himself.
Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son does not have life.
so that just as sin had reigned by death, so His favor too might reign in right standing with God which issues in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life myself. Whoever continues to believe in me will live right on even though he dies,
A thief does not come for any purpose but to steal and kill and destroy; I have come for people to have life and have it till it overflows.
and all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink -- for they continued to drink the water from the spiritual Rock which accompanied them, and that Rock was the Christ --
Just as the living Father has sent me and I live because of the Father, so whoever keeps on eating me will live because of me.
Since then the children mentioned share our mortal nature, He too took on Himself a full share of the same, in order that He by His death might put a stop to the power of him who has the power of death, that is, the devil,
So the Word became human and lived a little while among us, and we actually saw His glory, the glory of One who is an only Son from His Father, and He was full of spiritual blessing and truth.
For of course it is not angels but descendants of Abraham that He is to help.
For since it was through a man that death resulted, it was also through a man that the resurrection of the dead resulted. For just as all men die by virtue of their descent from Adam, so all such as are in union with Christ will be made to live again.
The first man was made of the dust of the earth; the second Man is from heaven.
But I want you to realize the fact that Christ is the Head of every man, that the husband is the head of the wife, and that God is the Head of Christ.
Because He was recognized as a man, in reality as well as in outward form, He finally humiliated Himself in obedience so as to die, even to die on a cross.
but He laid it aside as He took on the nature of a slave and became like other men.
"Fellow Israelites, listen to what I say. Jesus of Nazareth, as you yourselves well know, a man accredited to you by God through mighty deeds and wonders and wonder-works which God performed through Him right here among you,
and needed no testimony from anyone about them, for He well knew what was in human nature.
Then Jesus said to them, "I most solemnly say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the real bread out of heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the real bread out of heaven, for the bread that God gives is what comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world." Then they said to Him, "Give us that bread always, sir!"

Jesus said to them, "I am the bread that gives life. Whoever comes to me will never get hungry, and whoever believes in me will never get thirsty.
For God once publicly offered Him in His death as a sacrifice of reconciliation through faith, to demonstrate His own justice (for in His forbearance God had passed over men's former sins);
But behind the second curtain is the tent that is called the holy of holies,
We must continue to do the works of Him who sent me while it is daylight.
For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save the people that are lost."
And so the Pharisees and scribes continually grumbled, and said, "This fellow is welcoming notorious sinners, and even eating with them."
And when they all saw it, they began to grumble and say, "He has gone in to lodge with a notorious sinner!"
Now the Pharisees and their scribes were grumbling at His disciples, and were saying, "Why are you eating and drinking with tax-collectors and notorious sinners?"
Then the Jews began to grumble about His saying, "I am the bread that came down out of heaven." And they said, "Is He not Jesus, Joseph's son, whose father and mother we know? So how can He say, 'I have come down out of heaven'?" Jesus answered them, "Stop grumbling to one another.
But the Jews kept on wrangling with one another and saying, "How can He give us His flesh to eat?"
For we needed such a High Priest, holy, innocent, unstained, far removed from sinful men, and elevated far above the very heavens,
If you know that He is upright, you must know that everyone who practices uprightness is born of Him.
Although He was a Son, He learned from what He suffered how to obey,
Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered Him as follows: "Teacher, we would like to see a spectacular sign given by you." But He answered, "Only a wicked and treacherous age is hankering for a spectacular sign, and no sign will be given it but the sign of the prophet Jonah.
Then His disciples came up to Him and asked, "Do you know that the Pharisees were knocked breathless to hear what you have just said?"
None of the authorities or of the Pharisees have believed in Him, have they?
And some Pharisees came up to Him, to try Him out with the question, "Is it right for a man to divorce his wife for any cause?"
And one of their number, an expert in the law, to tempt Him, asked,
Then the Pharisees went and made a plot to trap Him in argument. So they sent to Him their disciples with the Herodians, to say to Him, "Teacher, we know that you are in the habit of telling the truth and of teaching the way of God in honesty, and you do not care what anyone says, for you are not partial.
Now the Pharisees who were lovers of money had been listening to all this, and they began to ridicule Him.
When the high priests and the Pharisees heard His stories, they knew that He was speaking about them,
Then His disciples came up to Him and asked, "Do you know that the Pharisees were knocked breathless to hear what you have just said?"
So when the Pharisee who invited Him saw it, he said to himself, "If He were really a prophet, He would know who and of what character the woman is who is clinging to Him -- that she is a social outcast."
And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, "Why does your Teacher eat with tax-collectors and notorious sinners?"
Now all the tax-collectors and notorious sinners were crowding around Him to listen to Him. And so the Pharisees and scribes continually grumbled, and said, "This fellow is welcoming notorious sinners, and even eating with them."
And Jesus said to them, "Look out, and keep on guarding yourselves against the yeast of the Pharisees and the Sadducees!"
How is it that you do not understand that I did not speak to you about bread, when I said, keep on guarding yourselves against the yeast of the Pharisees and the Sadducees?" Then they understood that He meant, guard yourselves not against yeast for bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.
You blind leaders, who are straining out the gnat but gulping down the camel!
You blind fools! which is greater, the gold, or the sanctuary that makes the gold sacred?
The Pharisees and the Sadducees came up, and to test Him asked Him to show them a spectacular sign from heaven.
Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered Him as follows: "Teacher, we would like to see a spectacular sign given by you."
Now one of the Pharisees invited Him to take dinner with him. So He came to the Pharisee's house and took His place at the table.
When He had said this, a Pharisee asked Him to lunch at his house, and He went in and took His place at table.
"A curse on you, you hypocritical scribes and Pharisees! For you bolt the doors of the kingdom of heaven in men's faces, for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you let those who are trying to do so go in. Omitted Text. A curse on you, you hypocritical scribes and Pharisees! For you scour land and sea to win a single convert, and when he is won you make him twice as fit for the pit as you are.

A curse on you, you blind leaders who say, 'Whoever swears by the sanctuary is not duty-bound, but whoever swears by the gold of the sanctuary is duty-bound.' You blind fools! which is greater, the gold, or the sanctuary that makes the gold sacred? You say, 'Whoever swears by the altar is not duty-bound, but whoever swears by the offering on the altar is duty-bound!' You blind men! which is greater, the offering, or the altar that makes the offering sacred? So whoever swears by the altar swears by everything on it; whoever swears by the sanctuary swears by it and by Him who dwells in it; whoever swears by heaven swears by the throne of God and by Him who sits on it. "A curse on you, you hypocritical scribes and Pharisees! For you pay tithes on mint and dill and cummin, and yet leave out the more vital matters of the law, justice, love and fidelity. These latter especially you ought to have done, but ought not to have left out the former. You blind leaders, who are straining out the gnat but gulping down the camel! A curse on you, you hypocritical scribes and Pharisees, for you clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside they are full of your greed and self-indulgence. You blind Pharisees! You must first clean the inside of the cup and the dish, so that the outside may be clean too. "A curse on you, you hypocritical scribes and Pharisees, for you are like white-washed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside, but inside are full of dead people's bones and everything that is unclean! So you, too, on the outside seem to people to be upright, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness. "A curse on you, you hypocritical scribes and Pharisees, for you build tombs for the prophets, and decorate monuments for the upright, and say, 'If we had lived in the days of our forefathers, we would not have been sharers with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.' So you are witnessing against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets. Then fill up to the brim the cup of your forefathers' guilt! You serpents! You brood of vipers! How can you escape a sentence to the pit!
But He answered, "Only a wicked and treacherous age is hankering for a spectacular sign, and no sign will be given it but the sign of the prophet Jonah.
You serpents! You brood of vipers! How can you escape a sentence to the pit!
"A curse on you, you hypocritical scribes and Pharisees, for you are like white-washed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside, but inside are full of dead people's bones and everything that is unclean!
For I tell you that unless your righteousness far surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never get into the kingdom of heaven at all.
Now when the Lord learned that the Pharisees had heard that He was winning and baptizing more disciples than John -- though Jesus Himself was not baptizing, it was His disciples -- He left Judea and went back again to Galilee.
A curse on you, because you are like unmarked graves which men walk over without knowing it!"
And the scribes and the Pharisees were closely watching Him to see whether He would cure him on the Sabbath, in order to get a charge against Him.
Yes, He who sent me is ever with me; I am not alone, because I always practice what pleases Him."
And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes, even wild birds have roosts, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head."
And on leaving there He went into their synagogue.
So He came to Nazareth where He had been brought up, and as His habit was on the Sabbath, He went to the synagogue and stood up to read.
For wherever two or three have met as my disciples, I am right there with them."
"Again, I tell you, if only two of you on earth agree on what they pray for, they will get it from my Father in heaven.
Every other priest stands officiating day after day and over and over again offering the same sacrifices, although they are unable to take away our sins. But this One offered up once for all and for all time one sacrifice for sins, and once for all took His seat at God's right hand,
Then what about the law? It was added later on to increase transgressions, until the descendant to whom the promise was made should come, enacted through the agency of angels in the person of an intermediary.
Now the promises were made to Abraham and his descendant. It does not say, "and to your descendants," in the plural, but in the singular, "and to your descendant," that is, Christ.
So whoever rejects this teaching is rejecting not man but God who continues to put His Spirit in you.
but the Pharisees and experts in the law thwarted God's purpose for themselves by refusing to be baptized by him.
For you know that, when later he wanted to get possession of the blessing, he was rejected, for he could find no opportunity to repent, although with tears he tried to get the blessing.
But he answered, 'I positively say to you, I do not know you.'
But He will say to you, 'I do not know where you come from. Go away from me, all you wrongdoers!'
But they all together began to shout, "Away with this fellow, but let us have Barabbas released!
Yes, He who sent me is ever with me; I am not alone, because I always practice what pleases Him."
and He was saying, "Abba [which means 'Father'], anything is possible for you! Take this cup away from me! Yet, I pray, not what I want but what you want!"
Then Jesus said to Peter, "Put your sword back into the sheath. Must I not drink the cup which the Father has handed me?"
No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him to me; then I myself will raise him to life on the last day.
Stop being surprised at this, for the time is coming when all that are in the graves will listen to His voice,
Now the will of Him who sent me is this, that I should lose none of all that He has given me, but should raise them to life on the last day. For it is my Father's will that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and that I shall raise him to life on the last day."
The Son of Man has come eating and drinking with others, and yet you say, 'Just look at Him! A glutton and a wine-drinker, an intimate friend of tax-collectors and notorious sinners!'
And the passers-by kept hissing at Him, shaking their heads
since He has set a day on which He will justly judge the world through a man whom He has appointed. He has made this credible to all by raising Him from the dead."
Then I saw heaven thrown open and a white horse appeared. His rider was called Faithful and True, and in justice He passes judgment and wages war.
But regarding the Son He says: "Your throne, O God, will stand forever and ever; a righteous scepter is the scepter of His kingdom.
You loved the right and hated wrong; so God, your God, anointed you, with oil of exultation beyond all your companions."
So you owe it all to Him through union with Christ Jesus, whom God has made our wisdom, our means of right standing, our consecration, and our redemption,
But Jesus answered him, "Let it be so now, for this is the fitting way for both of us to do our full duty to God." Then he yielded to Him.
For Christ has put an end to law as a way to right standing for everyone who puts his trust in Him.
So He came down to Capernaum, a city in Galilee. And He continued to teach them on the Sabbath,
On another Sabbath He found Himself in the synagogue teaching; and there was there a man whose right hand was withered.
So He came to Nazareth where He had been brought up, and as His habit was on the Sabbath, He went to the synagogue and stood up to read.
So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath."
"Teacher, Moses said, 'If a man dies without children, his brother must marry his widow and raise up a family for him.' Now there were seven brothers among us. The first married and died without children, and left his widow to his brother. The second also died, and the third, and all down to the seventh.

Last of all, the woman died, too. Now at the resurrection which one's wife, of the seven, will she be? For they all married her." Jesus answered them, "You are wrong in your views, because you do not understand the Scriptures nor the power of God, for after the resurrection men do not marry and women are not married, but continue to live together as the angels do in heaven. But did you never read, on the resurrection of the dead, what God said to you, 'I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob!' Now God is not the God of dead but of living men."
"Teacher, Moses gave us a law that if a man's brother died leaving a wife but no child, the man must marry the widow and raise up a family for his brother. There were once seven brothers. The eldest married a wife and on dying left no child, and the second married her and died leaving no child; and so did the third.

And not one of the seven left a child. At last the woman died too. Now at the resurrection, which one's wife will she be? For all seven of them married her." Jesus said to them, "Does not this prove that you are wrong in your views, because you do not understand either the Scriptures or the power of God? For when people rise from the dead, men do not marry and women are not married, but continue to live together as the angels in heaven do. But as to the rising of the dead, did you never read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the bush, how God said to him, 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? He is not the God of dead but of living people! You are entirely wrong in your views."
Now the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, and so they had a meeting.
The Pharisees and the Sadducees came up, and to test Him asked Him to show them a spectacular sign from heaven.
Omitted Text.
It is a saying to be trusted and deserves our fullest acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; and I am the foremost of them.
Therefore, because He Himself lives always to intercede for them always, He is able to save completely any and all who come to God through Him.
Then Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this home, for he too is a real descendant of Abraham.
For it was appropriate for Him, who is the Final Goal and the First Cause of the universe, in bringing many children to glory, to make the Leader in their salvation perfect through the process of sufferings.
And just as Moses in the desert lifted the serpent on the pole, the Son of Man must be lifted up, so that everyone who trusts in Him may have eternal life.
and because He was perfectly qualified for it He became the author of endless salvation for all who obey Him,
God has exalted to His right hand this very One as our Leader and Saviour, in order to give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel.
and He has made a mighty Saviour for us in the house of His servant David,
For both He who is purifying them and those who are being purified all spring from one Father; so He is not ashamed to call them brothers,
So Jesus, too, in order to purify the people by His own blood, suffered outside the gate.
Then when the angel left them and returned to heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let us now go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has taken place, which the Lord has told us." So they hurried to the place and found Joseph and Mary; also the baby lying in the manger.
Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent me, and to finish His work.
Before the Passover feast started, Jesus knew that His time had come for Him to leave the world and go to the Father, and as He had loved His own in the world He loved them to the last.
Jesus answered them, "Destroy this sanctuary, and I will raise it in three days."
But He meant the sanctuary of His body.
But He answered them, "Do you see all these things? I solemnly say to you, there shall not be left here one stone upon another that shall not be torn down."
Jesus said to him, "Are you looking in wonder at these great buildings? Not one stone will be left here upon another that will not be torn down."
"As for all this that you are admiring, the time is coming when not one stone will be left upon another, that will not be torn down."
Then the devil took Him into the holy city, and had Him stand on the tip-top turret of the temple,
Then he took Him to Jerusalem, and had Him stand on the tip-top turret of the temple, and said to Him, "If you are God's Son, throw yourself down from here,
So under the Spirit's guidance he went into the temple, and when the parents brought the child Jesus there to do for Him as the custom of the law required,
Now when the period of their purification ended, in accordance with the law of Moses, they took Him up to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord, to do as it is written in the law of the Lord,
And Jesus went into the temple and drove out all the buyers and sellers, and turned the money-changers' tables and the dove-dealers' seats upside down, and said to them, "The Scripture says, 'My house must be called a house of prayer,' but you have made it a cave for robbers."
So He made a lash out of cords, and drove them all, together with the sheep and cattle, out of the temple court, scattered the money-changers' coins and upset their tables. Then He said to the pigeon-dealers, "Take these things out of here! Stop using my Father's house as a market place!" His disciples recalled that the Scriptures say, "My zeal for your house will consume me!"
Day after day I used to be with you teaching in the temple, and you never laid hands on me. But this is so to fulfill the Scriptures."
The Pharisees and the Sadducees came up, and to test Him asked Him to show them a spectacular sign from heaven.
Just then an expert in the law got up to test Him by asking, "Teacher, what shall I do to get possession of eternal life?"
But Jesus saw their malicious plot, and so asked, "Why are you testing me so, you hypocrites?
But he answered, "The Scripture says, 'Not on bread alone can man live, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"
Then Jesus said to him, "Be gone, Satan! For the Scripture says, 'You must worship the Lord your God, and serve Him alone.'"
Jesus said to him, "Again the Scripture says, 'You must not try the Lord your God.'"
"Simon, Simon, listen! Satan has asked permission to sift all of you like wheat, but I have prayed especially for you that your own faith may not utterly fail. And you yourself, after you have turned, must strengthen your brothers."
For inasmuch as He has suffered Himself by being tempted, He is able to give immediate help to any that are tempted.
For we do not have a High Priest who is incapable of sympathizing with us in our weaknesses, but we have One who was tempted in every respect as we are, and yet without committing any sin.
Then the devil left Him, and angels came and continued to wait upon Him.
And He stayed in the desert forty days, while He was being tempted by Satan; yea, He was with the wild beasts, but the angels continued to wait upon Him.
and He was saying, "Abba [which means 'Father'], anything is possible for you! Take this cup away from me! Yet, I pray, not what I want but what you want!"
Then Jesus said to Peter, "Put your sword back into the sheath. Must I not drink the cup which the Father has handed me?"
Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent me, and to finish His work.
Yes, He who sent me is ever with me; I am not alone, because I always practice what pleases Him."
Then He left there and went into the neighborhood of Tyre and Sidon. He went into a house and wanted no one to know that He was there. But He could not escape public notice.
Then Jesus left there and slipped away to the neighborhood of Tyre and Sidon.
and from Jerusalem, and from Idumea, and from the other side of the Jordan, and from the neighborhood of Tyre and Sidon -- yes, a vast throng of people, as they kept hearing of the great things that He was doing, came to Him.
Then He came down with them and took His stand on a level place, where there was a great throng of His disciples and a vast crowd of people from all over Judea and from Jerusalem and the seacoast district of Tyre and Sidon, who had come to hear Him and to be cured of their diseases.
"A curse on you, Chorazin! A curse on you, Bethsaida! For if the wonder-works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, long ago they would have repented in sackcloth and ashes. Moreover, I tell you, on the day of judgment the punishment will be lighter for Tyre and Sidon than for you!
After sighting Cyprus and leaving it on our left, we sailed on for Syria, and put in at Tyre, for the ship was to unload her cargo there. So we looked up the disciples there and stayed a week with them. Because of impressions made by the Spirit they kept on warning Paul not to set foot in Jerusalem.
Now Herod cherished a bitter grudge against the people of Tyre and Sidon. So in a united body they came to meet him, and after winning the favor of Blastus, the king's chamberlain, they asked for peace, because their country depended for its food supply upon the king's country.
Now eternal life means knowing you as the only true God and knowing Jesus your messenger as Christ.
Jesus answered, "The first one is, 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord,
For by experience you know the unmerited favor shown by our Lord Jesus Christ; that although He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, in order that by His poverty you might become rich.
On behalf of this man with such an experience I will boast, but on behalf of myself personally I will boast only about my weaknesses.
