Have mercy upon me, O LORD. Behold my affliction from those who hate me, thou who lifts me up from the gates of death

The nations are sunk down in the pit that they made. In the net which they hid, their own foot is taken.

Hide not thy face from me. Put not thy servant away in anger. Thou have been my help. Cast me not off, nor forsake me, O God of my salvation.

Thou, LORD, of thy favor had made my mountain to stand strong. Thou hid thy face; I was troubled.

Thou make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.

Why do thou hide thy face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?

For it was not an enemy who reproached me. Then I could have borne it. Neither was it he who hated me that magnified himself against me. Then I would have hid myself from him.

They gather themselves together. They hide themselves. They mark my steps, even as they have waited for my soul.

Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine. Ephraim also is the defense of my head. Judah is my scepter.

So they shall be made to stumble, their own tongue being against them. All who see them shall wag the head.

This I have had because I have kept thy precepts.

They had almost consumed me upon earth, but I did not forsake thy precepts.
