The hand of her hater is stretched out over all her desired things; for she has seen that the nations have come into her holy place, about whom you gave orders that they were not to come into the meeting of your people.

(Sin/Shin) They have heard that I groan, yet there is no one to comfort me. All my enemies have heard of my trouble; they are glad that you have brought it about. Bring about the day of judgment that you promised so that they may end up like me!

He hath broken off - in the glow of his anger - the whole horn of Israel, hath turned back his right hand, from the face of the foe, - and hath kindled against Jacob, a very fire of flame, devouring round about.

What can be said about you? To what should you be compared, fair Jerusalem? To what may I liken you, so I may comfort you, fair one of Zion? Indeed, your wound is as deep as the sea who can heal you?

The LORD did what he planned. He carried out his threat. Just as he commanded long ago, he has torn down without pity; He let the enemy boast about you and has exalted the power of your enemies.

Wilt thou proclaim, like the day of an appointed meeting - My terrors round about? when there was not - in the day of the anger of Yahweh - fugitive or survivor, - Those whom I dandled and reared, my foe hath destroyed.

He hath builded round about me, and closed me in with gall and travail.

He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.

He has put up a wall of cut stones about my ways, he has made my roads twisted.

I continually think about this, and I am depressed.

Why should any living person complain about his sin?

(Tsade) Our enemies hunted us down at every step so that we could not walk about in our streets. Our end drew near, our days were numbered, for our end had come!
