And the report about him then went out everywhere in the whole surrounding region of Galilee.

Now Simon's mother-in-law was lying down, suffering with a fever, and at once they told him about her.

For he had healed many, so that all those who {were suffering from diseases} pressed about him in order that they could touch him.

And when he was alone, those around him together with the twelve began asking him about the parables.

They ran about [through] that whole region and began to carry around those {who were sick} on stretchers, wherever they heard that he was.

So he said to them, "Isaiah prophesied correctly about you hypocrites, as it is written, 'This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far, far away from me.

And when he entered into the house away from the crowd, his disciples asked him about the parable.

But immediately a woman whose young daughter was possessed by an unclean spirit, [when she] heard about him, came [and] fell down at his feet,

Now there were about four thousand. And he sent them away.

And he warned them that they should tell no one about him.

And he was speaking openly [about] the subject, and Peter took him aside [and] began to rebuke him.

But I tell you that indeed Elijah has come, and they did to him whatever they wanted, just as it is written about him."

And he asked them, "What are you arguing [about] with them?"

But they were silent, because they had argued with one another on the way [about] who [was] greatest.

And in the house again the disciples began to ask him about this.

Now they were on the road going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was going on ahead of them. And they were astounded, but those who were following [him] were afraid. And taking aside the twelve again, he began to tell them the things that were about to happen to him:

And [when they] heard [this], the ten began to be indignant about James and John.

This came about from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes'?"

Now concerning the dead, that they are raised, have you not read in the book of Moses {in the passage about the bush} how God spoke to him, saying, 'I [am] the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob'?

"Tell us, when will these [things] happen, and what [will be] the sign when all these [things] are about to be accomplished?"

And when you hear about wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. This must happen, but the end [is] not yet.

For the Son of Man is going just as it is written about him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! [It would be] better for him if that man had not been born."

And their testimony was not even consistent about this.

And he began to curse and to swear with an oath, "I do not know this man whom you are talking about!"
