And His mother and His brothers came to Him. And they could not come near Him because of the crowd.

And it was told to Him by some, who said, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside desiring to see You.

And they came to Him and awakened Him, saying, Master, Master, we are perishing! Then being aroused, He rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. And they ceased, and there was a calm.

And He said to them, Where is your faith? And being afraid, they marveled, saying to one another, Who then is this One? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him!

And seeing Jesus, he cried out and fell down before Him and said with a loud voice, What is to me and to You, Jesus, Son of God the Most High? I beseech You, Do not torment me!

(For He had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had seized him. And he had been kept bound in chains and in fetters, and he broke the bands and was driven into the deserted places by the demons.)

And Jesus asked him, saying, What is your name? And he said, Legion; because many demons had entered into him.

And they begged Him that He would not command them to go out into the abyss.

And there was there a herd of many pigs feeding on the mountain. And they begged Him that He would allow them to enter into them. And He allowed them.

And all the multitude of the neighborhood of the Gadarenes were seized with a great fear, and asked Him to depart from them. And entering into the boat, He returned.

And the man out of whom the demons had gone out begged Him, desiring to be with Him. But Jesus sent him away, saying,

Return to your own house and declare what God has done to you. And he went his way and proclaimed throughout all the city what great things Jesus had done to him.

And it happened when Jesus had returned, the people received Him. For they were all waiting for Him.

And behold, a man named Jairus came, and he was a synagogue-ruler. And he fell down at Jesus' feet and begged Him that He would come into his house.

For he had an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay dying. But as He went, the people thronged Him.

came behind Him and touched the border of His garment. And instantly her flow of blood was staunched.

And Jesus said, Who touched Me? And all having denied, Peter and those with Him said, Master, the crowd presses and jostles You, and You say, Who touched Me?

And seeing that she was not hidden, the woman came trembling. And falling down before Him, she declared to Him before all the people why she had touched Him, and how she was instantly healed.

He was still speaking when someone came from the synagogue-ruler, saying to him, Your daughter is dead, do not trouble the Teacher.

And Herod the tetrarch heard of all the things happening by Him. And he was perplexed, because it was said by some that John had risen from the dead;

And Herod said, John I have beheaded, but who is this of whom I hear such things? And he desired to see Him.

And returning, the apostles told Him all that they had done. And He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place of a city called Bethsaida.

But knowing this, the crowds followed Him. And He received them and spoke to them of the kingdom of God, and He healed those who had need of healing.

But the day began to wear away, and coming up the Twelve said to Him, Send the crowd away so that they may go into the villages and farms all around, and lodge, and get food. For we are here in a deserted place.

And it happened as He was alone praying, the disciples were with Him. And He asked them, saying, Whom do the crowds say that I am?

For whoever shall be ashamed of Me and of My Words, the Son of Man shall be ashamed of him when He shall come in His own and in His Father's glory, and that of the holy angels.

But Peter and those with him were heavy with sleep. But fully awakening, they saw His glory, and the two men who stood with Him.

And in their parting from Him, it happened that Peter said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here. And let us make three tabernacles, one for You and one for Moses and one for Elijah; not knowing what he said.

And it happened on the next day, they coming down from the mountain, a huge crowd met Him.

And lo, a spirit takes him, and he suddenly cries out. And it throws him into convulsions, with foaming, and with pain departs from him, bruising him.

And as he was still coming, the demon violently convulsed and tore him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit and healed the child and delivered him again to his father.

But they did not understand this, and it was hidden from them so that they did not perceive it. And they feared to ask Him of this word.

And seeing the argument of their heart, Jesus took a child and set him beside Him.

And He said to them, Whoever shall receive this child in My name receives Me. And whoever shall receive Me receives Him who sent Me. For he who is least among you all, he shall be great.

And Jesus said to him, Do not prevent him, for he who is not against us is for us.

And He sent messengers before His face. And they went and entered into a village of the Samaritans to make ready for Him.

And they did not receive Him, because His face was going toward Jerusalem.

And it happened as they were going in the way, one said to Him, Lord, I will follow You wherever You go.

Jesus said to him, Let the dead bury their dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.

And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tempted Him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

He said to him, What is written in the Law? How do you read it?

And He said to him, You have answered right; do this and you shall live.

And answering, Jesus said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell among robbers, who stripped him of his clothing and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

And by coincidence a certain priest came down that way and seeing him, he passed by on the opposite side.

And in the same way a Levite, also being at the place, coming and seeing him, he passed on the opposite side.

But a certain traveling Samaritan came upon him, and seeing him, he was filled with pity.

And coming near, he bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine, and set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

And going on the next day, he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, Take care of him. And whatever more you spend, when I come again I will repay you.

Then which of these three, do you think, was neighbor to him who fell among the robbers?

And he said, The one doing the deed of mercy to him. And Jesus said to him, Go and do likewise.

And as they went, it happened that He entered into a certain village. And a certain woman named Martha received Him into her house.

But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she came to Him and said, Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.

And it happened as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, one of His disciples said to Him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught His disciples.

And He said to them, which of you shall have a friend and shall go to him at midnight and say to him, Friend, lend me three loaves,

for a friend of mine has come from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him?

I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will arise and give him as many as he needs.

For everyone who asks receives. And he who seeks finds. And to him who knocks it shall be opened.

For what father of you, if the son asks for bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a snake for a fish?

Or if he shall ask for an egg, will he give him a scorpion?

But when one stronger than he comes, he overcomes him. He takes from him all his armor in which he trusted, and he distributes his arms.

And it happened as He spoke these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice and said to Him, Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which You have sucked.

But the crowds pressing on Him, He began to say, This is an evil generation. It seeks a sign, and no sign will be given to it, except the sign of Jonah the prophet.

And as He spoke, a certain Pharisee asked Him to dine with him. And He went in and reclined.

And one of the lawyers answered and said to Him, Master, you reproach us also when you say this.

And as He said these things to them, the scribes and Pharisees began to be terribly angry, and to draw Him out concerning many things,

lying in ambush for Him, and seeking to catch something out of His mouth, so that they might accuse Him.

But I will warn you of whom you shall fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yea, I say to you, fear Him.

And one of the company said to Him, Master, speak to my brother to divide the inheritance with me.

And He said to him, Man, who made Me a judge or a divider over you?

And Peter said to Him, Lord, do You speak this parable to us or also to all?

Blessed is that servant when his lord comes and finds him so doing.

Truly I say to you that he will set him over all his possessions.

And some were present at the same time reporting to Him of the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices.

And the Lord answered him and said, Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the sabbath loosen his ox or ass from the stall and lead it away, to give it drink?

And when He had said these things, all His adversaries were ashamed. And all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him.

The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying to Him, Go out and depart from here, for Herod will kill you.
