These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, because he is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with him [are] called and chosen and faithful."
Truly I say to you, that there are some of those standing here who will never experience death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."
that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
And he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom!"
Jesus replied, "My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews. But now my kingdom is not from here."

And the seventh angel blew the trumpet, and there was a loud voice in heaven saying, "The kingdom of the world has become [the kingdom] of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign {forever and ever}."
one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
God [is] faithful, by whom you were called to fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
Therefore let all the house of Israel know beyond a doubt, that God has made him both Lord and Christ--this Jesus whom you crucified!"
This one God has exalted to his right hand [as] Leader and Savior to grant repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.
And he said to them, "The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."

yet to us [there is] one God, the Father, from whom [are] all [things], and we [are] for him, and [there is] one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom [are] all [things], and we [are] through him.

Therefore also he is able to save completely those who draw near to God through him, [because he] always lives in order to intercede on their behalf.
that today a Savior, who is Christ the Lord, was born for you in the city of David.
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save those who are lost."
For God did not send his Son into the world in order that he should judge the world, but in order that the world should be saved through him.
The saying [is] trustworthy and worthy of all acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.
This one God has exalted to his right hand [as] Leader and Savior to grant repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.
From the descendants of this man, according to [his] promise, God brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus.
but has now been disclosed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought to light life and immortality through the gospel,
And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son [to be the] Savior of the world.
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, in order that he could bring you to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit,
because the zeal for your house has consumed me, and the reproaches of those reproaching you have fallen on me.
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law [by] becoming a curse for us, because it is written, "Cursed [is] everyone who hangs on a tree,"
but we see Jesus, for a short [time] made lower than the angels, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, so that apart from God he might taste death on behalf of everyone.
He made the one who did not know sin [to be] sin on our behalf, in order that we could become the righteousness of God in him.
But he [was] pierced because of our transgressions, crushed because of our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace [was] upon him, and by his wounds {we were healed}.
thus also Christ, having been offered once in order to bear the sins of many, will appear for the second time without reference to sin to those who eagerly await him for salvation.
who himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that [we] may die to sins [and] live to righteousness, by whose wounds you were healed.
For thus says [the] high and lofty one who resides forever, and [whose] name [is] holy: "I reside [in] a high and holy place, and with [the] {contrite} and humble of spirit, to revive [the] spirit of [the] humble, and to revive [the] heart of [the] {contrite}.
who {condescends to look at} [what is] in the heavens and in the earth?
Who remembered us in our low estate, for his loyal love [endures] forever.
Though Yahweh [is] high, yet he sees [the] lowly, but [the] proud he perceives at a distance.
And [when they] saw [it], the Pharisees began to say to his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?"
because he has looked upon the humble state of his female slave, for behold, from now on all generations will consider me blessed,
he got up from the dinner and took off [his] outer clothing, and taking a towel, tied [it] around himself.
And [when he] had said this, he showed [his] hands and [his] side to them. Then the disciples rejoiced [when they] saw the Lord.
Then he said to Thomas, "Place your finger here and see my hands, and place your hand and put [it] into my side. And do not be unbelieving, but believing!"
But the Pharisees went out {and plotted} against him in order that they could destroy him.
and plotted in order that they could arrest Jesus by stealth and kill [him].
Now [when it] was early morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus in order to put him to death.
But they were filled with fury, and began discussing with one another what they might do to Jesus.
And he was teaching every day in the temple [courts], and the chief priests and the scribes and the most prominent men of the people were seeking to destroy him.
And he went away [and] discussed with the chief priests and officers of the temple guard how he could betray him to them.
And on account of this the Jews began to persecute Jesus, because he was doing these [things] on the Sabbath.
So the chief priests and the Pharisees called together the Sanhedrin and said, "What are we doing? For this man is performing many signs!
So from that day they resolved that they should kill him.
And [when] the Pharisees and Sadducees came to test [him], they asked him to show them a sign from heaven.
And Pharisees came up to him [in order to] test him, and asked if it was permitted for a man to divorce his wife for any cause.
Then the Pharisees went {and consulted} so that they could entrap him with a statement.
And the Pharisees came and began to argue with him, demanding from him a sign from heaven [in order to] test him.
And they asked him if it was permitted for a man to divorce [his] wife, [in order to] test him.
And they sent some of the Pharisees and the Herodians to him so that they could catch him unawares in a statement.
plotting to catch him with reference to something {he might say}.
And they watched [him] closely [and] sent spies who pretended they were upright, in order that they could catch him in a statement, so that they could hand him over to the authority and the jurisdiction of the governor.
(Now they were saying this to test him, so that they would have [an occasion] to bring charges against him.) But Jesus, bending down, began to write with [his] finger on the ground, taking no notice.
And Abraham drew near [to Yahweh] and said, "Will you also sweep away the righteous with the wicked? If perhaps there are fifty righteous in the midst of the city, will you also sweep [them] away and not forgive the place on account of the fifty righteous in her midst? Far be it from you to do such a thing as this, to kill [the] righteous with [the] wicked, that the righteous would be as the wicked! Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do justice?"

And Yahweh said, "If I find fifty righteous in Sodom, in the midst of the city, then I will forgive the whole place for their sake." Then Abraham answered and said, "Look, please, I was bold to speak to my Lord, but I [am] dust and ashes. Perhaps the fifty righteous are lacking five--will you destroy the whole city on account of the five?" And he answered, "I will not destroy [it] if I find forty-five there." And {once again he spoke} to him and said, "What if forty are found there?" And he answered, "I will not do [it] on account of the forty." And he said, "Please, let not my Lord be angry, and I will speak. What if thirty be found there?" And he answered, "I will not do [it] if I find thirty there." And he said, "Please, now, I was bold to speak to my Lord. What if twenty be found there?" And he answered, "I will not destroy [it] for the sake of the twenty." And he said, "Please, let not my Lord be angry, and I will speak only once more. What if ten are found there?" And he answered, "I will not destroy [it] for the sake of the ten."
And Jacob remained alone, and a man wrestled with him until the breaking of the dawn. And when he saw that he could not prevail against him, he struck his hip socket, so that Jacob's hip socket was sprained as he wrestled with him. Then he said, "Let me go, for dawn is breaking." But he answered, "I will not let you go unless you bless me."

Then he said to him, "What [is] your name?" And he said, "Jacob." And he said, "Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have struggled with God and with men and have prevailed." Then Jacob asked and said, "Please tell me your name." And he said, "Why do you ask this--for my name?" And he blessed him there. Then Jacob called the name of the place Peniel [which means] "I have seen God face to face and my life was spared."
Then King David went and sat before Yahweh and said, "Who [am] I, my lord Yahweh, and what [is] my house that you have brought me up to {this place}? Still, this [was] {insignificant} in your eyes, my lord Yahweh, and also you have spoken about the house of your servant from afar, and this [may be] the teaching of humans, my lord Yahweh. {What more can David say to you}? You know your servant, my lord Yahweh.

Because of your word and according to your heart, you have done all of this great thing, [in order] to let your servant know. Therefore you [are] great, my lord Yahweh, for there is no one like you, and there [is] no god except you, in all that we have heard with our ears. Who [is] like your people, like Israel? [Israel is] the one nation on earth whose God {led them}, [in order] to redeem a people for himself, and to make a name for himself, and to do for you the great and awesome things for your land in the presence of your people whom he redeemed for himself from Egypt, [from the] nations and their gods. You have established your people Israel for yourself as a people forever, and you, O Yahweh, have become their God. So then, Yahweh God, the word that you have spoken concerning your servant and concerning his house, confirm it forever, and do just as you have promised. Your name shall be great forever, {and they will say}, 'Yahweh of hosts [is] God over Israel'; and the house of your servant David shall be established before you. For you, O Yahweh of hosts, [are] God of Israel! You have revealed to the ear of your servant, 'I will build a house for you'; therefore your servant {has found courage} to pray this prayer to you. Now, my Lord Yahweh, you alone [are] God, and your words [are] true. You have promised this good to your servant. So then, be content and bless the house of your servant to be forever in your presence, for you, my Lord Yahweh, have spoken, and because of your blessing, may the house of your servant be blessed forever."
Then Solomon stood before the altar of Yahweh in the presence of all of the assembly of Israel, and he spread out his hands [to] the heavens, and he said, "O Yahweh, God of Israel, there is no god like you in the heavens above or on the earth beneath, keeping the covenant and the loyal love for your servants who are walking before you with all their heart. You have kept for your servant David my father what you promised to him, and you have spoken with your mouth, and with your hand you have fulfilled [it] this very day.

So then, O Yahweh, God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father what you promised to him, saying, 'For you, no man will be cut off from before me who [will be] sitting on the throne of Israel, if only your sons keep their ways to walk before me just as you have walked before me.' So then, O God of Israel, please let your word be confirmed which you have promised to your servant David my father. For will God really dwell on the earth? Behold, the heavens and the heaven of heavens could not contain you! {How could} this house that I have built? You must regard the prayer of your servant and his plea! O Yahweh my God, listen to the pleading and to the prayer that your servant [is] praying before you this day, so that your eyes [will] be open to this house night and day, to the place which you said, 'My name will be there,' to hear the prayer that your servant prays toward this place. You must listen to the plea of your servant and your people Israel which they pray [toward] this place; and you must hear from the place where you live, from heaven you must hear and you must forgive. [If] a man sins against his neighbor and he pronounces an oath against him to curse him, and the curse comes before your altar in this house, then you shall hear in heaven and you shall act and you shall judge your servant, to declare the wicked guilty by bringing his way upon his head and {to declare the righteous innocent} by rewarding him according to his righteousness. When your people Israel are defeated before the enemy {because} they sinned against you, and [when] they turn to you and confess your name and pray and beg for mercy from you in this house, then you shall hear in heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel, and you shall bring them back to the ground which you gave to their ancestors. When you shut up the heavens so there is no rain because they have sinned against you, then they pray to this place and they confess your name and they return from their sin because you punished them, then you shall hear in heaven and forgive the sin of your servants and your people Israel, for you will teach them the good way in which they should go, and you will give rain upon your land which you have given to your people as an inheritance. If there should be in the land famine or disease, if there should be blight or mildew or locust or caterpillars, if it happens that his enemy lays siege against him in the land of his gates, if any plague or any disease, any prayer or any plea which is [offered] by any person for all of your people Israel, who each knows the infestation of his [own] heart and spreads out his palms to this house, then you shall hear in heaven the place of your dwelling, and you shall forgive and act and give to the man whose heart you know, according to all his ways, for you alone know the heart of all the sons of man. [Do these things] so that they may fear you all the days that they live on the face of the land that you gave to our ancestors. Also for the foreigner who is not from your people Israel, and he comes from a distant land because of your name, (for they shall hear of your great name and your powerful hand and your outstretched arm), and he shall come and pray toward this house, you shall hear in heaven, the place of your dwelling, and act according to all that the foreigner calls to you, so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name, to fear you as your people Israel, and to know that your name has been invoked over this house that I have built. If your people go out to battle against his enemy in the way that you shall send them and they pray to Yahweh, toward the city which you have chosen and the house which I have built for your name, then you shall hear in heaven their prayer and their plea, and you shall {vindicate} them. "If they sin against you (for there is not a person who does not sin) and you are angry with them and you give them to an enemy and they take them captive to the land of the enemy far or near, and then they return their heart in the land where they have been taken captive and they return and plead to you in the land of their captivity, saying, 'We have sinned and we did wrong. We acted wickedly,' if they return to you with all of their heart and with all of their soul in the land of their enemies who took them captive and they pray to you toward their land which you gave to their ancestors, the city that you have chosen and the house that you built for your name, then you shall hear in heaven, the place of your dwelling, their prayer and their plea, and you shall {vindicate them}. You shall forgive your people who sinned against you, [even] for all their transgressions which they committed against you. You shall give them compassion before their captors so that they may have compassion on them, for they [are] your people and your inheritance whom you brought from Egypt from the middle of the smelter of iron. [O,] that your eyes [may] be open to the plea of your servant and to the plea of your people Israel, to listen to them in all things [when] they call to you. For you have separated them for yourself as an inheritance from all the peoples of the earth, as you promised through the hand of Moses your servant when you brought out our ancestors from Egypt, my Lord Yahweh!" It happened that when Solomon finished praying to Yahweh all of the prayer and this plea, he got up from before the altar of Yahweh, from kneeling down on his knees with his palms outstretched to heaven. He stood and blessed all of the assembly of Israel with a loud voice, saying, "Blessed be Yahweh who gave a resting place to his people Israel. According to all that he promised, not one word has fallen from all of his promises [concerning] the good which he spoke through the hand of Moses his servant. May Yahweh our God be with us as he was with our ancestors, and may he not leave us or abandon us, to incline our hearts toward him, to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments, his statutes, and his judgments which he commanded our ancestors. Let these my words which I pleaded before Yahweh [be] near to Yahweh our God, by day and by night, to maintain the justice of his servant and the justice of his people Israel {as each day requires} so that all of the people of the earth may know that Yahweh, he [is] God; there is none other. Let your heart be completely with Yahweh our God by walking in his statutes, by keeping his commands as this day."
And it happened that while he was in a certain place praying, when he stopped a certain one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John also taught his disciples." And he said to them, "Who of you will have a friend, and will go to him at midnight and say to him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves, because a friend of mine has come to me on a journey, and I do not have anything to set before him.' And that one will answer from inside [and] say, 'Do not cause me trouble! The door has already been shut and my children are with me in bed! I am not able to get up to give you [anything].' I tell you, even if he does not give him [anything] [after he] gets up because [he] is his friend, at any rate because of his impudence he will get up [and] give him whatever he needs. And I tell you, ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. But what father from among you, [if his] son will ask for a fish, instead of a fish will give him a snake? Or also, [if] he will ask for an egg, will give him a scorpion? Therefore if you, [although you] are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father from heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?"
And he told them a parable to [show that] they must always pray and not be discouraged, saying, "There was a certain judge in a certain town who did not fear God and did not respect people. And there was a widow in that town, and she kept coming to him, saying, 'Grant me justice against my adversary!'

And the Lord said, "Listen to what the unrighteous judge is saying! And will not God surely {see to it that justice is done} to his chosen ones who cry out to him day and night, and will he delay toward them? I tell you that {he will see to it that justice is done} for them soon! Nevertheless, [when] the Son of Man comes, then will he find faith on earth?"

And it happened that while he was in a certain place praying, when he stopped a certain one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John also taught his disciples." And he said to them, "When you pray, say, "Father, may your name be treated as holy. May your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread.

And forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation." And he said to them, "Who of you will have a friend, and will go to him at midnight and say to him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves, because a friend of mine has come to me on a journey, and I do not have anything to set before him.' And that one will answer from inside [and] say, 'Do not cause me trouble!

And he was not willing for a time, but after these [things] he said to himself, 'Even if I do not fear God or respect people, yet because this widow is causing trouble for me, I will grant her justice, so that she does not wear me down in the end [by her] coming back!'" And the Lord said, "Listen to what the unrighteous judge is saying! And will not God surely {see to it that justice is done} to his chosen ones who cry out to him day and night, and will he delay toward them? I tell you that {he will see to it that justice is done} for them soon! Nevertheless, [when] the Son of Man comes, then will he find faith on earth?"
And both the Pharisees and the scribes were complaining, saying, "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them!"
"Why does this man speak like this? He is blaspheming! Who is able to forgive sins except God alone?"
And [when they] saw [it], the Pharisees began to say to his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?"
But [when] the Pharisees saw [it], they said to him, "Behold, your disciples are doing what it is not permitted to do on the Sabbath!"
"Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat {a meal}."
And the scribes of the Pharisees, [when they] saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, began to say to his disciples, "Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?"
And they saw that some of his disciples were eating their bread with unclean--that is, unwashed--hands.
And [when they] saw [it], they all began to complain, saying, "He has gone in to find lodging with a man who is a sinner!"
Now the Jews began to grumble about him because he said, "I am the bread that came down from heaven,"
And he said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise."
If anyone serves me, he must follow me, and where I am, there my servant will be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself, so that where I am, you may be also.
"Father, [those] whom you have given to me--I want that those also may be with me where I am, in order that they may see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.
so we are confident and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.
But I am hard pressed {between the two options}, having the desire to depart and to be with Christ, {for this is very much better}.
Then we who are alive, who remain, will be snatched away at the same time together with them in the clouds for a meeting with the Lord in the air, and thus we will be together with the Lord always.
for you will not abandon my soul to Sheol; you will not give your faithful one to see [the] grave.
From that time [on] Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many [things] from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised on the third day.
and will hand him over to the Gentiles to mock [him] and flog [him] and crucify [him], and on the third day he will be raised."
But after I am raised, I will go ahead of you into Galilee."
And [as] they were coming down from the mountain, he ordered them that they should tell no one [the things] that they had seen, except when the Son of Man had risen from the dead.
But after I am raised, I will go ahead of you into Galilee."
Jesus answered and said to them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up!"
Therefore I have experienced help from God until this day, [and] I stand here testifying to both small and great, saying nothing except what both the prophets and Moses have said were going to happen, that the Christ was to suffer [and] that [as] the first of the resurrection from the dead, he was going to proclaim light both to the people and to the Gentiles."
greatly annoyed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
And Philip came down to the city of Samaria [and] began proclaiming the Christ to them.
So Philip opened his mouth and beginning from this scripture, proclaimed the good news to him [about] Jesus.
And immediately he began proclaiming Jesus in the synagogues: "This one is the Son of God!"
[As for] the message that he sent to the sons of Israel, proclaiming the good news of peace through Jesus Christ--this one is Lord of all--
explaining and demonstrating that it was necessary [for] the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead, and [saying], "This Jesus whom I am proclaiming to you is the Christ."
but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a cause for stumbling, but to the Gentiles foolishness,
For we do not proclaim ourselves, but Christ Jesus [as] Lord, and ourselves [as] your slaves for the sake of Jesus.
{Now when the feast was already half over}, Jesus went to the temple [courts] and began to teach.
because he was teaching them like one who had authority, and not like their scribes.
And he went around through all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.
And opening his mouth he began to teach them, saying,
And getting out [of the boat] he saw the large crowd and had compassion on them, because they were like sheep {without} a shepherd, and he began to teach them many [things].
And he began to teach in their synagogues, [and] was praised by all.
And he got into one of the boats, which was Simon's, [and] asked him to put out from the land a little. And he sat down [and] began to teach the crowds from the boat.
This man came to him at night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that [you are] a teacher who has come from God, for no one is able to perform these signs that you are performing unless God were with him."
Now early in the morning he came again to the temple [courts]. And all the people were coming, and he sat down [and] began to teach them.
And [when they] returned, the apostles described to him all that they had done. And he took them along [and] withdrew privately to a town called Bethsaida.
And [after he] sent away the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. So [when] evening came, he was there alone.
And departing from there, Jesus went along the Sea of Galilee, and he went up on the mountain [and] was sitting there.
And after six days Jesus took along Peter and James and John his brother, and led them up on a high mountain by themselves.
And [as] Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples by themselves and said to them on the way,
And he said to them, "You yourselves come privately to an isolated place and rest for a short time." For those [who were] coming and going were many, and they did not even have time to eat.
And from there he set out [and] went to the region of Tyre. And [when he] entered into a house, he wanted no one to know, and [yet] he was not able to escape notice.
And he withdrew from them about a stone's throw and {knelt down} [and] began to pray,
I [am] the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end."
But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, [too] small to be among the clans of Judah, from you one will go out for me, to be ruler in Israel; and his origins [are] from of old, from ancient days.
"Father, [those] whom you have given to me--I want that those also may be with me where I am, in order that they may see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly I say to you, before Abraham was, I am!"
And now, Father, you glorify me {at your side} with the glory that I had {at your side} before the world existed.
and he himself is before all [things], and in him all [things] are held together,
without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but resembling the Son of God--he remains a priest for all time.
John answered them, saying, "I baptize with water. In your midst stands [one] whom you do not know--
Jesus said to him, "Am I with you so long a time and you have not known me, Philip? The one who has seen me has seen the Father! How can you say, 'Show us the Father?'
He was in the world, and the world came into being through him, and the world did not recognize him.
Jesus answered and said to her, "If you had known the gift of God and who it is who says to you, 'Give me [water] to drink,' you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water."
So they were saying to him, "Where is your father?" Jesus replied, "You know neither me nor my Father! If you had known me, you would have known my Father also."
The man answered and said to them, "For the remarkable thing is this, that you do not know where he is from, and he opened my eyes!
And they will do these [things] because they do not know the Father or me.
For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, [because they] did not recognize this one, and the voices of the prophets that are read on every Sabbath, fulfilled [them] [by] condemning [him].
Everyone who resides in him does not sin. Everyone who sins has neither seen him nor known him.
Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, "Lord, why is it that you are going to reveal yourself to us and not to the world?" Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves me he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and {will take up residence with him}.
"If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, in order that he may be with you {forever}--
For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.
Grace [be] with all who love our Lord Jesus Christ in incorruptibility.
Hold fast to the pattern of sound words which you heard from me, in the faith and love [that are] in Christ Jesus.
[because I] hear about your love and faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and for all the saints.
whom, [although you] have not seen, you love; in whom now you believe, [although you] do not see [him], and you rejoice greatly with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify solemnly that this one is the one appointed by God [as] judge of the living and of the dead.
teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the age."
And this is his commandment: that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as {he commanded us}.
The one who has my commandments and keeps them--that one is the one who loves me. And the one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will reveal myself to him."
"A new commandment I give to you: that you love one another--just as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
"If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and remain in his love.
You are my friends if you do what I command you.
He made his grave with [the] wicked, and with [the] rich in his death, although he had done no violence, and [there was] no deceit in his mouth.
And she gave birth to her firstborn son, and wrapped him in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that [although he] was rich, for your sake he became poor, in order that you, by his poverty, may become rich.
Then two robbers were crucified with him, one on [his] right and one on [his] left.
For I tell you that this that is written must be fulfilled in me: 'And he was counted with the criminals.' For indeed, [what is written] about me {is being fulfilled}."
In his humiliation justice was taken from him. Who can describe his {descendants}? For his life was taken away from the earth."
but emptied himself [by] taking the form of a slave, [by] becoming in the likeness of people. And being found in appearance like a man, he humbled himself [by] becoming obedient to the point of death, that is, death on a cross.
Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?" And they were offended by him.
And whoever is not offended by me is blessed."
but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a cause for stumbling, but to the Gentiles foolishness,
And he will become like a sanctuary and a stumbling-stone, and like a stumbling-rock for the two houses of Israel, like a trap and a snare for the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
And they were offended by him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his [own] hometown and in his [own] household."
Why that? Because [they did] not [pursue it] by faith, but as [if] by works. They stumbled over the {stone that causes people to stumble},
and "A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense," who stumble [because they] disobey the word to which also they were consigned.
[When he] had said these [things], Jesus was troubled in spirit and testified and said, "Truly, truly I say to you that one of you will betray me."
[He was] despised and rejected [by] men, a man of suffering, and acquainted with sickness, and like {one from whom others hide their faces}, [he was] despised, and we did not hold him in high regard.
And looking up to heaven, he sighed and said to him, "Ephphatha!" (that is, "Be opened!").
And sighing deeply in his spirit, he said, "Why does this generation demand a sign? Truly I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation!"
And when he approached [and] saw the city, he wept over it,
Then Jesus, when he saw her weeping and the Jews who came with her weeping, was deeply moved in spirit and was troubled within himself.
Jesus wept.
"Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, deliver me from this hour'? But for this [reason] I have come to this hour!
knowing this, that our old man was crucified together with [him], in order that the body of sin may be done away with, [that] we may no longer be enslaved to sin.
and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me, and that [life] I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
If you have died with Christ to the elemental spirits of the world, why do you submit [to them] as [if] living in the world?
Just as it is written, "On account of you we are being put to death the whole day [long]; we are considered as sheep for slaughter."
For we who are alive [are] continually being handed over to death because of Jesus, in order that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our mortal flesh.
The saying [is] trustworthy: For if we died with [him], we will also live with [him];
Then Jesus said, "Yet a little time I am with you, and I am going to the one who sent me.
You have heard that I said to you, 'I am going away, and I am coming to you.' If you loved me, you would have rejoiced that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I [am].
But now I am going away to the one who sent me, and none of you is asking me, 'Where are you going?'
And I am no longer in the world, and they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given to me, so that they may be one, just as we [are].
Children, yet a little [time] I am with you. You will seek me and just as I said to the Jews, "Where I am going you cannot come," now I say also to you.
and concerning righteousness, because I am going away to the Father and you will see me no more,
"A little [while] and you will see me no more, and again a little [while] and you will see me.
I have gone out from the Father and have come into the world; again, I am leaving the world and am going to the Father."
I have said these [things] to you so that in me you may have peace. In the world you have affliction, but have courage! I have conquered the world."
And [when] the Lord saw her, he had compassion for her and said to her, "Do not weep!"
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.
"I will not leave you [as] orphans; I am coming to you.
But Jesus, turning around and seeing her, said, "Have courage, daughter! Your faith has healed you." And the woman was healed from that hour.
But Jesus, ignoring {what was said}, told the ruler of the synagogue, "Do not be afraid--only believe!"
Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given [us] eternal encouragement and good hope by grace,
It is necessary [for] us to do the deeds of the one who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work!
So finally he sent his son to them, saying, 'They will respect my son.'
because I have come down from heaven not that I should do my will, but the will of the one who sent me.
I know him, because I am from him and he sent me."
Jesus said to them, "If God were your father, you would love me, for I have come forth from God and have come. For I have not come from myself, but that one sent me.
do you say about [he] whom the Father set apart and sent into the world, 'You are blaspheming,' because I said, 'I am the Son of God'?
because the words that you gave to me I have given to them, and they received [them] and know truly that I have come from you, and they have believed that you have sent me.
that they all may be one, just as you, Father, [are] in me and I [am] in you, that they also may be in us, in order that the world may believe that you sent me.
Was it not necessary [that] the Christ suffer these [things] and enter into his glory?"
For I tell you that this that is written must be fulfilled in me: 'And he was counted with the criminals.' For indeed, [what is written] about me {is being fulfilled}."
And he began to teach them that it was necessary [for] the Son of Man to suffer many [things] and to be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and to be killed, and after three days to rise.
saying, "It is necessary [for] the Son of Man to suffer many [things] and to be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and to be killed, and to be raised on the third day.
But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how I am distressed until it is accomplished!
saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of men [who are] sinners, and be crucified, and on the third day rise?"
and said to them, "Thus it is written [that] the Christ would suffer and would rise from the dead on the third day,
And just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, thus it is necessary [that] the Son of Man be lifted up,
Was it not necessary [that] the Christ suffer these [things] and enter into his glory?"
But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how I am distressed until it is accomplished!
saying that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of men [who are] sinners, and be crucified, and on the third day rise?"
and said to them, "Thus it is written [that] the Christ would suffer and would rise from the dead on the third day,
And just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, thus it is necessary [that] the Son of Man be lifted up,
Therefore also God exalted him and graciously granted him the name above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [those] in heaven and of [those] on earth and of [those] under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
For a child has been born for us; a son has been given to us. And the dominion will be on his shoulder, and his name is called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
And he has a name written on his outer garment and on his thigh: "King of kings and Lord of lords."
having become by so much better than the angels, by as much as he has inherited a more excellent name than theirs.
And behold, you will conceive in the womb and will give birth to a son, and you will call his name Jesus.
Now his eyes [were] a flame of fire, and on his head [were] many royal headbands having a name written that no one except he himself knows.
"Say to the daughter of Zion, 'Behold, your king is coming to you, humble and mounted on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a pack animal.'"
Now I, Paul, appeal to you myself by the humility and gentleness of Christ, who {when I am present in person} [am] humble among you, but [when I] am absent am bold toward you--
Take my yoke on you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was brought like lamb to [the] slaughter, and like a sheep is dumb before its shearers, so he did not open his mouth.
Then Jesus said to him, "Put your sword back into its place! For all who take up the sword will die by the sword.
who [when he] was reviled, did not revile in return; [when] suffering, he did not threaten, but entrusted [himself] to the one who judges justly,
and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To the one who loves us and released us from our sins by his blood
I command you, in the sight of God who gives life to all [things] and Christ Jesus who testified the good confession before Pontius Pilate,
Then Pilate said to him, "So then you are a king!" Jesus replied, "You say that I am a king. For this [reason] I was born, and for this reason I have come into the world: in order that I can testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears my voice."
Look! I made him a witness to [the] peoples, a leader and a commander [for the] peoples.
Truly, truly I say to you, we speak what we know, and we testify [about] what we have seen, and you do not accept our testimony!
What he has seen and heard, this he testifies, and no one accepts his testimony.
Jesus answered and said to them, "Even if I testify concerning myself, my testimony is true, because I know where I have come from and where I am going. But you do not know where I have come from or where I am going.
But immediately a woman whose young daughter was possessed by an unclean spirit, [when she] heard about him, came [and] fell down at his feet,
And behold, a leper approached [and] worshiped him, saying, "Lord, if you are willing, you are able to make me clean."
[As] he was saying these [things] to them, behold, one of the rulers came [and] knelt down before him, saying, "My daughter has just now died, but come, place your hand on her and she will live!"
But she came [and] knelt down before him, saying, "Lord, help me!"
Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came up to him with her sons, [and] kneeling down [she] asked something from him.
And one of the rulers of the synagogue came--Jairus by name--and [when he] saw him, he fell down at his feet.
And he said, "I believe, Lord!" and he worshiped him.
I will raise up a prophet for them {from among their countrymen} like you, and I will place my words into his mouth, and he shall speak to them {everything that I command him}.
Moses said, 'The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brothers. You will listen to him in everything that he says to you.
because the words that you gave to me I have given to them, and they received [them] and know truly that I have come from you, and they have believed that you have sent me.
I have many [things] to say and to judge concerning you, but the one who sent me is true, and [the things] which I heard from him, these [things] I say to the world."
For I have not spoken from myself, but the Father himself who sent me {has commanded me} what I should say and what I should speak.
Do you not believe that I [am] in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak from myself, but the Father residing in me does his works.
The one who does not love me does not keep my words, and the word that you hear is not mine, but the Father's who sent me.

On that day the branch of Yahweh shall become beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land [shall become the] pride and glory of the survivors of Israel.
And a shoot will come out from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from its roots will bear fruit.
"Look, days [are] coming," {declares} Yahweh, "when I will raise up for David a righteous branch, and he will reign [as] king, and he will achieve success, and he will do justice and righteousness in the land.
In those days and in that time I will make a branch of righteousness sprout for David, and he will execute justice and righteousness in the land.
Listen, please, O Joshua the high priest, you and your companions that are sitting {before} you. For [the] men [are] a sign that, look, I [am] going to bring my servant [the] Branch.
And say to him, 'Thus says Yahweh of hosts: "Look, [here is] a man whose name [is] Branch, and from his place he will sprout, and he will build the temple of Yahweh.
And he said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise."
[[But Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."]] And they cast lots to divide his clothes.
Then he said to the disciple, "Behold your mother!" And from that hour the disciple took her into his own [home].
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?" (that is, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?")
After this, Jesus, knowing that now at last everything was completed, in order that the scripture would be fulfilled, said, "I am thirsty."
Then when he had received the sour wine, Jesus said, "It is completed," and bowing [his] head, he gave up [his] spirit.
And Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, "Father, into your hands I entrust my spirit!" And [after he] said this, he expired.
And the king will answer [and] say to them, 'Truly I say to you, in as much as you did [it] to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did [it] to me.'
"The one who receives you receives me, and the one who receives me receives the one who sent me.
and whoever welcomes one child such as this in my name welcomes me.
The one who listens to you listens to me, and the one who rejects you rejects me. But the one who rejects me rejects the one who sent me."
And falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?"
Now [if you] sin in this way against the brothers and wound their conscience, which is weak, you sin against Christ.
who has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred [us] to the kingdom of the Son {he loves},
"Behold my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved in whom my soul is well pleased. I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles.
[While] he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice from the cloud said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Listen to him!"
And a voice came from heaven, "You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased."
to the praise of the glory of his grace that he bestowed on us in the beloved,
Thus also Christ did not glorify himself to become high priest, but the one who said to him, "You are my Son, today I have begotten you,"
who has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred [us] to the kingdom of the Son {he loves},

You love righteousness and hate wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you from among your companions [with] festive oil.
And he saw that there was no man, and he was appalled that there was no one who intercedes, so his arm came to assist him, and his righteousness {was what} sustained him.
"Look, days [are] coming," {declares} Yahweh, "when I will raise up for David a righteous branch, and he will reign [as] king, and he will achieve success, and he will do justice and righteousness in the land.
And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and the one seated on it was called "Faithful" and "True," and with justice he judges and makes war.
And righteousness shall be the belt around his waist, and faithfulness the belt around his loins.
"I [am] Yahweh; I have called you in righteousness, and I have grasped your hand and watched over you; and I have given you as a covenant of [the] people, as a light of [the] nations,
And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says, "And let all [the] angels of God worship him."
So those in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God!"
And behold, Jesus met them, saying, "Greetings!" And they came up [and] took hold of his feet and worshiped him.
And [when they] came into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down [and] worshiped him. And opening their treasure boxes, they offered him gifts of gold and frankincense and myrrh.
And they worshiped him [and] returned to Jerusalem with great joy.
And when he took the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one of whom had a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
Everyone who denies the Son does not have the Father [either]; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also.
"And I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before people, the Son of Man also will acknowledge him before the angels of God,
that if you confess with your mouth "Jesus [is] Lord" and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
"Therefore everyone who acknowledges me before people, I also will acknowledge him before my Father [who is] in heaven.
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God resides in him and he in God.
and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and {to the sprinkled blood} that speaks better than Abel's [does].
For [there is] one God and one mediator between God and human beings, the man Christ Jesus,
But now he has attained a more excellent ministry, by as much as he is also mediator of a better covenant which has been enacted upon better promises.
And because of this, he is the mediator of a new covenant, in order that, [because] a death has taken place for the redemption of transgressions [committed] during the first covenant, those who are the called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
For Christ did not enter into a sanctuary made by hands, a [mere] copy of the true [one], but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf,
My little children, I am writing these [things] to you in order that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous [one],
and he himself is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he himself may become first in everything,
and he subjected all [things] under his feet and gave him [as] head over all [things] to the church,
But speaking the truth in love, we are to grow into him [with reference to] all [things], who is the head, Christ,
because [the] husband is [the] head of the wife, as also Christ [is the] head of the church (he himself [being the] Savior of the body).
and not holding fast to the head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by the ligaments and sinews, grows with the growth of God.
Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Therefore, shall I take away the members of Christ [and] make [them] members of a prostitute? May it never be!
because we are members of his body.
So then, my brothers, you also were brought to death with respect to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to the one who was raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God.
For I am jealous [for] you with a godly jealousy, because I promised you [in marriage] to one husband, to present [you] [as] a pure virgin to Christ.
[As for] you, what you have heard from the beginning must remain in you. If what you have heard from the beginning remains in you, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father.
But from now on the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God." So they all said, "Are you then the Son of God?" And he said to them, "You say that I am."
The Father and I are one."
If I do not do the deeds of my Father, do not believe me. But if I am doing [them], even if you do not believe me, believe the deeds, so that you may know and understand that the Father [is] in me and I [am] in the Father."
and the one who sees me sees the one who sent me.
If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you know him and have seen him." Philip said to him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us." Jesus said to him, "Am I with you so long a time and you have not known me, Philip? The one who has seen me has seen the Father! How can you say, 'Show us the Father?'

Do you not believe that I [am] in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak from myself, but the Father residing in me does his works.
Everything that the Father has is mine. For this [reason] I said that he takes from what [is] mine and will proclaim [it] to you.
because in him all the fullness of deity dwells bodily,
For from his fullness we have all received, and grace after grace.
and he subjected all [things] under his feet and gave him [as] head over all [things] to the church, which is his body, the fullness of the one who fills all [things] in every [way].
until we all reach the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to a measure of the maturity of the fullness of Christ,
because he was well pleased [for] all the fullness to dwell in him,
And with great power the apostles were giving testimony [to] the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was on them all.
And we [are] witnesses of all [the things] that he did both in the land of the Judeans and in Jerusalem, whom they also executed [by] hanging [him] on a tree. God raised this one up on the third day and granted [that] he should become visible, not to all the people but to us who had been chosen beforehand by God [as] witnesses, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.
who was declared Son of God in power according to {the Holy Spirit} by the resurrection from the dead of Jesus Christ our Lord,
this man, delivered up by the determined plan and foreknowledge of God, you executed [by] nailing to [a cross] through the hand of lawless men. God raised {him} up, having brought to an end the pains of death, because it was not possible [for] him to be held by it.
But you denied the Holy and Righteous One and demanded [that] a man--a murderer--be granted to you. And you killed the originator of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses!
{And as was his custom}, Paul went in to them and on three Sabbath [days] he discussed with them from the scriptures, explaining and demonstrating that it was necessary [for] the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead, and [saying], "This Jesus whom I am proclaiming to you is the Christ."
Then he poured water into the washbasin and began to wash the feet of the disciples, and to wipe [them] dry with the towel {which he had tied around himself}.
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Look! Your king comes to you; he [is] righteous and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, and on a male donkey, {the foal of} a female donkey!
Take my yoke on you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that [although he] was rich, for your sake he became poor, in order that you, by his poverty, may become rich.
he humbled himself [by] becoming obedient to the point of death, that is, death on a cross.
because all [things] in the heavens and on the earth were created by him, things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or powers, all [things] were created through him and for him,
yet to us [there is] one God, the Father, from whom [are] all [things], and we [are] for him, and [there is] one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom [are] all [things], and we [are] through him.
All [things] came into being through him, and apart from him not one [thing] came into being that has come into being.
and to enlighten everyone [as to] what [is] the administration of the mystery hidden from the ages by God, who created all [things],
[Although] God spoke long ago in many parts and in many ways to the fathers by the prophets, in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed heir of all [things], through whom also he made the world,
And he said, "Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, 'The Teacher says, "My time is near. I am celebrating the Passover with you with my disciples." '
Then he came to the disciples and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is near, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.
So they were seeking to seize him, and no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come.
And Jesus answered them, saying, "The hour has come that the Son of Man will be glorified.
Now before the feast of Passover, Jesus, knowing that his hour had come that he would depart from this world to the Father, [and] having loved [his] own in the world, loved them to the end.
Jesus said these [things], and lifting up his eyes to heaven he said, "Father, the hour has come! Glorify your Son, in order that your Son may glorify you--
But the Pharisees were saying, "By the ruler of demons he expels the demons!"
But the Pharisees, [when they] heard [it], said, "This man does not expel demons except by Beelzebul the ruler of demons!"
But some of them said, "By Beelzebul the ruler of demons he expels demons!"
And they were saying many other [things] against him, reviling [him].
because they were saying, "He has an unclean spirit."
Do they themselves not blaspheme the good name {of the one to whom you belong}?
but to those [who are] called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ [is] the power of God and the wisdom of God.
And the child was growing and becoming strong, filled with wisdom, and the favor of God was upon him.
And he came to his hometown [and] began to teach them in their synagogue, so that they were amazed and said, "From where did this man [get] this wisdom and these miracles?
And the spirit of Yahweh shall rest on him-- a spirit of wisdom and understanding, a spirit of counsel and might, a spirit of knowledge and the fear of Yahweh.
in whom all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden.
Now on the last day of the feast--the great [day]--Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me, and let him drink,
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?" (that is, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?")
And other [seed] fell on the good soil, and [when it] came up, it produced a hundred times as much grain." [As he] said these [things], he called out, "The one who has ears to hear, let him hear!"
Then Jesus cried out in the temple [courts], teaching and saying, "You both know me and you know where I am from! And I have not come from myself, but the one who sent me is true, whom you do not know.
But Jesus cried out and said, "The one who believes in me does not believe in me, but in the one who sent me,
And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice [and] gave up his spirit.
[While] he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice from the cloud said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Listen to him!"
And behold, [there was] a voice from heaven saying, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased."
There is another who testifies about me, and I know that the testimony which he testifies about me is true.
And the Father who sent me, that one has testified about me. You have neither heard his voice at any time nor seen his form.
I am the one who testifies concerning myself, and the Father who sent me testifies concerning me."
If we receive the testimony of people, the testimony of God is greater, because this is the testimony of God that he has testified concerning his Son.
The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Behold, a man [who is] a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' But wisdom is vindicated by her deeds."
But the Pharisees were saying, "By the ruler of demons he expels the demons!"
And they began to accuse him, saying, "We have found this man misleading our nation and forbidding [us] to pay taxes to Caesar, and saying [he] himself is Christ, a king!"
And they put forward false witnesses who said, "This man does not stop speaking words against the holy place and the law!
But others jeered [and] said, "They are full of sweet new wine!"
For we have found this man [to be] a public menace and one who causes riots among all the Jews throughout the Roman Empire and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes,
Therefore, I will divide to him [a portion] among the many, and with [the] strong ones he will divide bounty, {because} he poured his life out to death and was counted with [the] transgressors; and he was the one who bore the sin of many and will intercede for the transgressors.
Who [is] this, coming from Edom, from Bozrah [in] bright red garments? [Who is] this honored in his garment, lying down in his great strength? "[It is] I, speaking in justice, {mighty} to save!"
But I tell you that [something] greater than the temple is here!
The queen of the south will rise up at the judgment with the people of this generation and condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, [something] greater than Solomon [is] here!
Therefore also God exalted him and graciously granted him the name above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [those] in heaven and of [those] on earth and of [those] under the earth,
Therefore, [because we] have been declared righteous by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
But he [was] pierced because of our transgressions, crushed because of our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace [was] upon him, and by his wounds {we were healed}.
[As for] the message that he sent to the sons of Israel, proclaiming the good news of peace through Jesus Christ--this one is Lord of all--
For he himself is our peace, who made both one and broke down the dividing wall of the partition, the enmity, in his flesh,
and through him to reconcile all [things] to himself, [by] making peace through the blood of his cross, through him, whether things on earth or things in heaven.
And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband.
And Jesus said to them, "{The bridegroom's attendants} are not able to mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them. But days are coming when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.
"Then the kingdom of heaven may be compared to ten virgins who took their lamps [and] went out to meet the bridegroom.
But in the middle of the night there was a shout, 'Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!'
The one who has the bride is the bridegroom. But the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices {greatly} because of the bridegroom's voice. So this joy of mine is complete.
And he put on righteousness like breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on his head, and he put on garments of vengeance [for] clothing, and he wrapped [himself in] zeal as [in a] robe.
And he said to them, "{Why} were you searching for me? Did you not know that it was necessary [for] me to be in the [house] of my Father?"
His disciples remembered that it is written, "Zeal for your house will consume me."
Jesus said to them, "My food is that I do the will of the one who sent me and complete his work.
It is necessary [for] us to do the deeds of the one who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work!
Jesus of Nazareth--how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with him.
For it stands in scripture, "Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a chosen [and] precious cornerstone, and the one who believes in him will never be put to shame."
[The] stone the builders rejected has become [the] chief cornerstone.
Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the scriptures, 'The stone which the builders rejected, this has become {the cornerstone}. This came about from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes'?
This one is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, that has become {the cornerstone}.
built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone,
and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To the one who loves us and released us from our sins by his blood
These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, because he is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with him [are] called and chosen and faithful."
which he will make known in his own time, the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of those who reign as kings and Lord of those who rule as lords,
And he has a name written on his outer garment and on his thigh: "King of kings and Lord of lords."
and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead and the ruler of the kings of the earth.
If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before [it hated] you.
But they were filled with fury, and began discussing with one another what they might do to Jesus.
But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, 'We do not want this man to be king over us!'
The world cannot hate you, but it hates me, because I am testifying about it, that its deeds are evil.
But [this happened] so that the word that is written in their law would be fulfilled, 'They hated me without a reason.'
So when they saw him, the chief priests and the officers shouted, saying, "Crucify! Crucify!" Pilate said to them, "You take him and crucify [him]! For I do not find a basis for an accusation against him."
and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead and the ruler of the kings of the earth.
And Herod with his soldiers also treated him with contempt, and [after] mocking [him] [and] dressing [him] [in] glistening clothing, he sent him back to Pilate.
And on account of this the Jews began to persecute Jesus, because he was doing these [things] on the Sabbath.
And they stood up [and] forced him out of the town and brought him up to the edge of the hill on which their town was built, so that they could throw him down the cliff.
And after these [things] Jesus was going about in Galilee. For he did not want to go about in Judea, because the Jews were seeking to kill him.
I know that you are descendants of Abraham. But you are seeking to kill me, because my word makes no progress among you.
So they were seeking again to seize him, and he departed out of their hand.
And [as he] was passing by, he saw Levi the [son] of Alphaeus sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, "Follow me!" And he stood up [and] followed him.
And Jesus said to them, "{Follow} me and I will make you become fishers of people."
And immediately he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men [and] went away after him.
And when day came, he summoned his disciples and chose from them twelve, whom he also named apostles:
On the next day he wanted to depart for Galilee, and he found Philip. And Jesus said to him, "Follow me!"
And he said to me, 'Go, because I will send you far away to the Gentiles!'"
Is not this one the son of the carpenter? Is not his mother called Mary and his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas?
[He was] despised and rejected [by] men, a man of suffering, and acquainted with sickness, and like {one from whom others hide their faces}, [he was] despised, and we did not hold him in high regard.
And those who passed by reviled him, shaking their heads and saying, "Aha! The one who would destroy the temple and rebuild [it] in three days, save yourself [by] coming down from the cross!"
Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these [things], and they ridiculed him.
And many of them were saying, "He has a demon and is out of his mind! Why do you listen to him?"
And Herod with his soldiers also treated him with contempt, and [after] mocking [him] [and] dressing [him] [in] glistening clothing, he sent him back to Pilate.
And the men who were guarding him began to mock him [while] they beat [him],
and weaving a crown of thorns, they put [it] on his head, and [put] a reed in his right hand. And kneeling down before him, they mocked him, saying, "Hail, king of the Jews!"
In the same way also the chief priests, along with the scribes and elders, were mocking [him], saying,
And the soldiers also mocked him, coming up [and] offering him sour win
For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building.
But the army said to Saul, "Must Jonathan die, who accomplished this great victory in Israel? Far from it! As Yahweh lives, not a hair from his head will fall to the ground, for he has worked with God this day." So the army ransomed Jonathan and he did not die.
And they went out [and] proclaimed everywhere, [while] the Lord was working together with [them] and confirming the message through the accompanying signs.]]
Now [because we] are fellow workers, we also urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain.
And Simon answered [and] said, "Master, [although we] worked hard through the whole night, we caught nothing. But at your word I will let down the nets."
And they came [and] woke him up, saying, "Master, master! We are perishing!" So he got up [and] rebuked the wind and the billowing waves of water and they ceased, and it became calm.
And Jesus said, "Who [is] the one who touched me?" And [when they] all denied [it], Peter said, "Master, the crowds are pressing you hard and crowding [you]!"
And it happened that as they were going away from him, Peter said to Jesus, "Master, it is good [for] us to be here. And let us make three shelters, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah," not knowing what he was saying.
And John answered [and] said, "Master, we saw someone expelling demons in your name, and we tried to prevent him, because he does not follow in company with us."
And they raised [their] voices, saying, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!"
So he answered [and] said, "The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man,
So also you, when you see all these [things], know that he is near, at the door.
And he did not speak to them without a parable, but in private he explained everything to his own disciples.
Now the parable means this: the seed is the word of God,
And beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he interpreted to them the things concerning himself in all the scriptures.
And Jesus said, "Who [is] the one who touched me?" And [when they] all denied [it], Peter said, "Master, the crowds are pressing you hard and crowding [you]!"
And many had gathered, so that [there was] no longer room, not even at the door, and he was speaking the word to them.
For he had healed many, so that all those who {were suffering from diseases} pressed about him in order that they could touch him.
And he went with him, and a large crowd was following him and pressing around him.
Now it happened that while the crowd was pressing around him and hearing the word of God, he was standing beside the lake of Gennesaret,
Now his mother and brothers came to him, and they were not able to meet with him because of the crowd.
"I, Jesus, sent my angel to testify to you about these [things] for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star."
I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near; a star will go out from Jacob, and a scepter will rise from Israel; it will crush the foreheads of Moab and destroy all the children of Seth.
and we possess [as] more reliable the prophetic word, to which you do well [if you] pay attention to [it] as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts,
as I also have received from my Father, and I will give him the morning star.
If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and remain in his love.
But so that the world may know that I love the Father, and just as the Father has commanded me, thus I am doing. Get up, let us go from here!
For just as through the disobedience of the one man, the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one, the many will be made righteous.
Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered,
then he has said, "Behold, I have come to do your will." He takes away the first in order to establish the second,
"I, Jesus, sent my angel to testify to you about these [things] for the churches.
And he said to me, "It is done! I [am] the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the one who is thirsty I will give [water] from the spring of the water of life freely.
And the one who conquers and who keeps my works until the end, I will give him authority over the nations,
as I also have received from my Father, and I will give him the morning star.
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you--not as the world gives, I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let [them] be afraid.
What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and our hands have touched, concerning the word of life--
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
And the Word became flesh and took up residence among us, and we saw his glory, glory as of the one and only from the Father, full of grace and truth.
For [there] are three that testify,
And [he was] dressed in an outer garment dipped in blood, and his name is called the Word of God.
For it was fitting for him for whom [are] all [things] and through whom [are] all [things] in bringing many sons to glory to perfect the originator of their salvation through sufferings.
And the Word became flesh and took up residence among us, and we saw his glory, glory as of the one and only from the Father, full of grace and truth.
And Pilate came outside again and said to them, "Behold, I am bringing him outside to you, so that you will know that I find no basis for an accusation against him."
and being perfected, he became the source of eternal salvation to all those who obey him,
For the law appoints men [as] high priests who have weakness, but the statement of the oath, after the law, [appoints] a Son, who is made perfect {forever}.
Then Jesus was led up into the wilderness by the Spirit to be tempted by the devil,
For in that which he himself suffered [when he] was tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.
forty days, being tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing during those days, and [when] they were completed, he was hungry.
"And you are the ones who have remained with me in my trials,
For we do not have a high priest who is not able to sympathize with our weaknesses, but who has been tempted in all [things] in the same way, without sin.
And he began to teach in their synagogues, [and] was praised by all.
And many [people] spread their cloaks on the road, and others [spread] leafy branches [they] had cut from the fields.
And they brought it to Jesus, and throwing their cloaks on the colt, they put Jesus [on it].
took the branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, and began crying out, "Hosanna! Blessed [is] the one who comes in the name of the Lord, even the king of Israel!"
And I heard every creature that [is] in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and in the sea and everything in them saying, "To the one who is seated on the throne and to the Lamb [be] praise and honor and glory and power {forever and ever}."
For [there is] one God and one mediator between God and human beings, the man Christ Jesus,
The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
he humbled himself [by] becoming obedient to the point of death, that is, death on a cross.
But when the fullness of time came, God sent out his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
And I am no longer in the world, and they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given to me, so that they may be one, just as we [are].
But if I am doing [them], even if you do not believe me, believe the deeds, so that you may know and understand that the Father [is] in me and I [am] in the Father."
Do you not believe that I [am] in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak from myself, but the Father residing in me does his works.
The Father and I are one."
And the glory that you have given to me, I have given to them, in order that they may be one, just as we [are] one--
For [there is] one God and one mediator between God and human beings, the man Christ Jesus,
The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

And behold, they cried out, saying, "{What do you have to do with us}, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?"
saying, "{Leave us alone}, Jesus the Nazarene! Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are--the Holy One of God!"
And the unclean spirits, whenever they saw him, were falling down before him and crying out, saying, "You are the Son of God!"
And demons also were coming out of many, crying out and saying, "You are the Son of God!" And he rebuked [them] [and] did not permit them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.
But the evil spirit answered [and] said to them, "Jesus I know, and Paul I am acquainted with, but who are you?"
because to you has been graciously granted on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer on behalf of him,
For we who are alive [are] continually being handed over to death because of Jesus, in order that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our mortal flesh.
Therefore I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in calamities, in persecutions and difficulties for the sake of Christ, for whenever I am weak, then I am strong.
And behold, they cried out, saying, "{What do you have to do with us}, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?"
saying, "{Leave us alone}, Jesus the Nazarene! Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are--the Holy One of God!"

And I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and on the cloud was seated [one] like a son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.
and in the midst of the lampstands [one] like a son of man, dressed in [a robe] reaching to the feet and girded around his chest [with] a golden belt, and his head and hair [were] white like wool, white as snow, and his eyes [were] like a fiery flame, and his feet [were] like fine bronze when it has been fired in a furnace, and his voice [was] like the sound of many waters,

and [he] had in his right hand seven stars, and a sharp double-edged sword coming out of his mouth, and his face [was] like the sun shining in its strength.
And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and the one seated on it was called "Faithful" and "True," and with justice he judges and makes war. Now his eyes [were] a flame of fire, and on his head [were] many royal headbands having a name written that no one except he himself knows.
But as many as received him--to those who believe in his name--he gave to them authority to become children of God,
"Whoever welcomes one of the young children such as these in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me, but the one who sent me."
"The one who receives you receives me, and the one who receives me receives the one who sent me.
Now when Jesus returned, the crowd welcomed him, because they were all waiting for him.
And he came down quickly and welcomed him joyfully.
After this, Jesus, knowing that now at last everything was completed, in order that the scripture would be fulfilled, said, "I am thirsty."
Now before the feast of Passover, Jesus, knowing that his hour had come that he would depart from this world to the Father, [and] having loved [his] own in the world, loved them to the end.
But there are some of you who do not believe." (For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who it was who would betray him.)
(For he knew the one who would betray him; because of this he said, "Not all [of you] are clean.")
Then Jesus, [because he] knew all the things that were coming upon him, went out and said to them, "Who are you looking for?"

Do you think that I have come to grant peace on the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division!
And there was a lot of grumbling concerning him among the crowds; some were saying, "He is a good [man]," but others were saying, "No, but he deceives the crowd."
So there was a division in the crowd because of him.
So some of the Pharisees were saying, "This man is not from God, because he does not observe the Sabbath!" Others were saying, "How can a man [who is] a sinner perform such signs?" And there was a division among them.
Again there was a division among the Jews because of these words.
And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all [people] to myself."
And [when] he came down from the mountain, large crowds followed him.
And [when he] saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and knelt down before him.
And [after] Jesus had crossed over again in the boat to the other side, a large crowd gathered to him, and he was beside the sea.
Now it happened that on the next day, [when] they had come down from the mountain, a large crowd met him.
Do you think that I have come to grant peace on the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division!

And they asked him if it was permitted for a man to divorce [his] wife, [in order to] test him.
(Now they were saying this to test him, so that they would have [an occasion] to bring charges against him.) But Jesus, bending down, began to write with [his] finger on the ground, taking no notice.
And behold, a certain legal expert stood up to test him, saying, "Teacher, what must I do so that I will inherit eternal life?"
And others, [in order to] test [him], were demanding from him a sign from heaven.
But seeing through their craftiness, he said to them,
And behold, a woman who had been suffering with a hemorrhage twelve years approached from behind [and] touched the edge of his cloak, for she said to herself, "If only I touch his cloak I will be healed." But Jesus, turning around and seeing her, said, "Have courage, daughter! Your faith has healed you." And the woman was healed from that hour.
For he had healed many, so that all those who {were suffering from diseases} pressed about him in order that they could touch him.
And [after they] had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret. And [when] the men of that place recognized him, they sent [word] into that whole surrounding region, and they brought to him all those {who were sick}. And they were imploring him that they might only touch the edge of his cloak, and all those who touched [it] were cured.
And the whole crowd was seeking to touch him, because power was going out from him and healing [them] all.

just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life [as] a ransom for many."
For who [is] greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? [Is it] not the one who reclines at the table? But I am in your midst as the one who serves.
he got up from the dinner and took off [his] outer clothing, and taking a towel, tied [it] around himself. Then he poured water into the washbasin and began to wash the feet of the disciples, and to wipe [them] dry with the towel {which he had tied around himself}.

So these approached Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and began asking him saying, "Sir, we want to see Jesus."
And they found him and said to him, "Everyone is looking for you!"
And [when it] was day, he departed [and] went to an isolated place. And the crowds were seeking him, and came to him and were trying to prevent him from departing from them.
And he was seeking to see Jesus--who he was--and he was not able to as a result of the crowd, because he was short in stature.
So when the crowd saw that Jesus was not there, nor his disciples, they themselves got into the boats and came to Capernaum seeking Jesus.
Therefore, I will divide to him [a portion] among the many, and with [the] strong ones he will divide bounty, {because} he poured his life out to death and was counted with [the] transgressors; and he was the one who bore the sin of many and will intercede for the transgressors.
thus also Christ, having been offered once in order to bear the sins of many, will appear for the second time without reference to sin to those who eagerly await him for salvation.

because he was teaching them like one who had authority, and not like their scribes.
And Jesus approached [and] spoke to them, saying, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

and may be found in him, not having my righteousness [which is] from the law, but [which is] through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God on the basis of faith,
But from him you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom to us from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption,
For Christ [is the] end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
One of his disciples--the one whom Jesus loved--was reclining {close beside} Jesus.

Jesus wept. So the Jews were saying, "See how he loved him!"
No longer do I call you slaves, because the slave does not know what his master is doing. But I have called you friends, because everything that I have heard from my Father I have revealed to you.

Think this in yourselves which [was] also in Christ Jesus,
"For who has known the mind of the Lord; who has advised him?" But we have the mind of Christ.
Therefore, [because] Christ suffered in the flesh, you also equip yourselves with the same way of thinking, because the one who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,
At that time Jesus answered [and] said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these [things] from the wise and intelligent, and have revealed them to young children.
Now it happened that when all the people were baptized, Jesus also was baptized, and [while he] was praying, heaven was opened,
Jesus said these [things], and lifting up his eyes to heaven he said, "Father, the hour has come! Glorify your Son, in order that your Son may glorify you--
So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes above and said, "Father, I give thanks to you that you hear me.
"But from where will wisdom be found? And {where in the world} [is the] place of understanding? A human being does not know its proper value, and it is not found in [the] land of the living. The deep says, 'It [is] not in me,' and [the] sea says, 'It is not with me.'

"Refined gold cannot be gotten in its place, and silver cannot be weighed out [as] its price. It cannot be bought for the gold of Ophir, for precious onyx or sapphire. Gold and glass cannot be compared with it, and its substitution [cannot be] an ornament of refined gold. Black corals and crystal will not be mentioned, and wisdom's price [is] more than red corals. The topaz of Cush cannot be compared with it; it cannot be bought for pure gold. Indeed, from where does wisdom come? And {where in the world} [is the] place of understanding? It is hidden from [the] eyes of all living, and it is concealed from [the] birds of the heaven. Abaddon and Death say, 'We heard its rumor with our ears.' "God understands its way, and he knows its place, for he himself looks to [the] end of the earth; he sees under all the heaven. {When he gave} weight to the wind and he apportioned [the] waters by measure, {when he made} a rule for the rain and a way for [the] thunder's lightning bolt, then he saw it and talked about it; he established it, and moreover, he explored it. With his knowledge, depths broke open, and clouds dropped dew. My child, may they not escape from your {sight}; may you keep sound wisdom and prudence. They shall be life for your soul and adornment for your neck. Then you will walk in the confidence of your ways, and your foot will not stumble. If you sit down, you will not panic, and [if] you lie down, then your sleep shall be sweet.

he taught me and said to me, "May your heart hold fast [to] my words; guard my commandments and live. Get wisdom and insight; do not forget and do not turn from the sayings of my mouth. Do not forsake her--then she will guard you; love her and she will keep you. The beginning of wisdom: Get wisdom! With all [that is in] your possession, gain insight. Cherish her and she will exalt you; she will honor you if you embrace her. She will give a garland for your head; she shall bestow a crown of glory upon you." And [we] ourselves heard this voice brought from heaven [when we] were with him on the holy mountain,
And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothing became bright as the light.
And after six days, Jesus took along Peter and James and John, and led them to a high mountain by themselves alone. And he was transfigured before them,
And as he was praying, the appearance of his face became different, and his clothing [became] white, gleaming like lightning.

So they went with the guard of soldiers [and] made the tomb secure [by] sealing the stone.
And [when he] had said this, he showed [his] hands and [his] side to them. Then the disciples rejoiced [when they] saw the Lord.
Look at my hands and my feet, that I am I myself! Touch me and see, because a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as {you see that I have}."
Everyone who goes too far and does not remain in the teaching of Christ does not have God. The one who remains in the teaching--this person has both the Father and the Son.
And it happened when Jesus finished these words the crowds were amazed at his teaching,
And he began to teach them many [things] in parables, and was saying to them in his teaching,
So Jesus answered them and said, "My teaching is not mine, but [is] from the one who sent me.
And when they had entered, they went up to the upstairs room where they were staying--Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James [son] of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot and Judas [son] of James.
Now these are the names of the twelve apostles: first Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, James the [son] of Zebedee, and John his brother,
Simon (whom he also named Peter) and his brother Andrew, and James, and John, and Philip, and Bartholomew,
And he appointed the twelve. And to Simon he gave the name Peter,
Now [when it] was evening, the disciples came to him saying, "The place is desolate and the hour {is late}. Release the crowds so that they can go away into the villages [and] purchase food for themselves."
And taking the five loaves and the two fish [and] looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves and gave [them] to his disciples so that they could set [them] before them. And he distributed the two fish to [them] all.
Now the day began to be far spent, and the twelve came up [and] said to him, "Send away the crowd so that they can go into the surrounding villages and farms to obtain lodging and find provisions, because we are here in a desolate place.
{Then Jesus, when he looked up} and saw that a large crowd was coming to him, said to Philip, "Where can we buy bread so that these [people] can eat?"
But Jesus himself did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all [people],
Now we know that you know everything and do not {need for} anyone to ask you [questions]. By this we believe that you have come from God."
He said to him a third [time], "Simon [son] of John, do you love me?" Peter was distressed because he said to him a third [time], "Do you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything! You know that I love you!" Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep!
And they prayed [and] said, "You, Lord, who know the hearts of all, show clearly which one of these two you have chosen
And from there he set out [and] went to the region of Tyre. And [when he] entered into a house, he wanted no one to know, and [yet] he was not able to escape notice.
And Simon and those [who were] with him searched diligently for him.
And he went home, and the crowd gathered again, so that they were not even able to eat a meal.
And many [people] saw them leaving and recognized [them], and ran there together by land from all the towns, and arrived ahead of them.
And [when he] saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were weary and dejected, like sheep that did not have a shepherd.
And [as he] got out, he saw the large crowd and had compassion on them and healed their sick.
And Jesus summoned his disciples [and] said, "I have compassion on the crowd, because they have remained with me three days already and do not have anything to eat, and I do not want to send them away hungry lest they give out on the way."
Now [this is] the main point in what has been said: we have a high priest such as this, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven,
But Christ has arrived [as] a high priest of the good [things] to come. Through the greater and more perfect tent not made by hands, that is, not of this creation,
and [since we have] a great priest over the house of God,
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.
For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, therefore, and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.
And he was expelling a mute demon. Now it happened that [when] the demon came out, the man who had been mute spoke, and the crowds were astonished.
For we do not proclaim ourselves, but Christ Jesus [as] Lord, and ourselves [as] your slaves for the sake of Jesus.
We [are] fools for the sake of Christ, but you [are] prudent in Christ! We [are] weak, but you [are] strong! You [are] honored, but we [are] dishonored!
And he will sweep into Judah; he will overflow and he will flood up to [the] neck. He will reach, and {he will spread his wings out over your entire land}, God with us."
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Look! the virgin [is] with child and she is about to give birth [to] a son, and she shall call his name 'God with us.'
"Behold, the virgin {will become pregnant} and will give birth to a son, and they will call his name Emmanuel," which is translated, "God with us."
And those who passed by reviled him, shaking their heads
Let the Christ, the king of Israel, come down now from the cross, so that we may see and believe! Even those who were crucified with him were reviling him.
And one of the criminals who were hanged there reviled him, saying, "Are you not the Christ? Save yourself--and us!"
And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea.
But [when] they saw him walking on the sea, they thought that it was a ghost, and they cried out.
Then [when they] had rowed about twenty-five or thirty stadia, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat, and they were afraid.
Now it happened that on the next day, [when] they had come down from the mountain, a large crowd met him.
And [when they] came to the crowd, a man approached him, kneeling down before him
And it came out, screaming and convulsing [him] greatly, and he became as if [he were] dead, so that most [of them] said, "He has died!"
And they were all amazed, so that [they began] to discuss with one another, saying, "What is this? A new teaching with authority! He even commands the unclean spirits and they obey him."
And the men were astonished, saying, "What sort of [man] is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?"
The Father loves the Son and has given all [things] into his hand.
And [when] Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law lying down and suffering with a fever.
And he came [and] raised her up [by] taking hold of her hand, and the fever left her, and she began to serve them.
And [after he] set out from the synagogue, he went into Simon's house. And Simon's mother-in-law was afflicted with a high fever, and they asked him on behalf of her.
[As] he was saying these [things] to them, behold, one of the rulers came [and] knelt down before him, saying, "My daughter has just now died, but come, place your hand on her and she will live!"
and immediately the girl stood up and began walking around (for she was twelve years old). And {immediately they were utterly and completely astonished}.
And behold, a man {who was named} Jairus came, and this man was a ruler of the synagogue. And he fell down at the feet of Jesus [and] began imploring him to come to his house,
And he said to them, "Why are you fearful, [you] of little faith?" Then he got up [and] rebuked the winds and the sea and there was a great calm.
And they came [and] woke him up, saying, "Master, master! We are perishing!" So he got up [and] rebuked the wind and the billowing waves of water and they ceased, and it became calm.
And he woke up [and] rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Be quiet! Be silent!" And the wind abated and there was a great calm.
And behold, a woman who had been suffering with a hemorrhage twelve years approached from behind [and] touched the edge of his cloak,
And [there was] a woman who was {suffering from hemorrhages} twelve years.
And a woman who was {suffering from hemorrhages} for twelve years (who, [although she] had spent all [her] assets on physicians, was not able to be healed by anyone)
For this one is considered worthy of greater glory than Moses, inasmuch as the one who builds it has greater honor than the house.
"Father, [those] whom you have given to me--I want that those also may be with me where I am, in order that they may see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.
And now, Father, you glorify me {at your side} with the glory that I had {at your side} before the world existed.
He is not here, for he has been raised, just as he said. Come, see the place where he was lying.
But he said to them, "Do not be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene who was crucified. He has been raised, he is not here! See the place where they laid him!
He is not here, but has been raised! Remember how he spoke to you [while he] was still in Galilee,
Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?" And they were offended by him.
And all [those] in the synagogue were filled with anger [when they] heard these [things]. And they stood up [and] forced him out of the town and brought him up to the edge of the hill on which their town was built, so that they could throw him down the cliff.
But first it is necessary [for] him to suffer many [things], and to be rejected by this generation.
Now it happened that when all the people were baptized, Jesus also was baptized, and [while he] was praying, heaven was opened,
Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John in order to be baptized by him.
And it happened that in those days Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John.
Whenever he sends out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice.
My sheep listen to my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
And I have other sheep which are not from this fold. I must bring these also, and they will hear my voice, and they will become one flock--one shepherd.
And [when] he came to the other side, to the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming from among the tombs met him, very violent, so that no one was able to pass by along that road.
And they came to the other side of the sea, to the region of the Gerasenes.
And they sailed to the region of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee.
And extending his hand he touched him, saying, "I am willing, be clean." And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
And becoming angry, he stretched out his hand [and] touched [him], and said to him, "I am willing; be made clean."
And extending [his] hand he touched him, saying, "I am willing; be clean." And immediately the leprosy went away from him.
And behold, [there was] a man who had a withered hand, and they asked him, saying, "Is it permitted to heal on the Sabbath?" in order that they could accuse him.
And he entered into the synagogue again, and a man who had a withered hand was there.
Now it happened that on another Sabbath he entered into the synagogue and was teaching, and a man was there, and his right hand was withered.
And he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, because the power is perfected in weakness." Therefore rather I will boast most gladly in my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may reside in me.
Now to each one of us was given this grace, according to the measure of Christ's gift.
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Then Pilate said to him, "So then you are a king!" Jesus replied, "You say that I am a king. For this [reason] I was born, and for this reason I have come into the world: in order that I can testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears my voice."
And the Word became flesh and took up residence among us, and we saw his glory, glory as of the one and only from the Father, full of grace and truth.
And behold, they brought to him a paralytic lying on a stretcher, and [when] Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Have courage, child, your sins are forgiven."
And they came bringing to him a paralytic, carried by four [of them].
And behold, men [came] carrying on a stretcher a man who was paralyzed, and they were seeking to bring him in and place [him] before him.
The one who rejects me and does not accept my words has one who judges him; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day.
He came to his own [things], and his own [people] did not receive him.
I have come in my Father's name, and you do not accept me. If another should come in his own name, you would accept that one!
And [as he] got out, he saw the large crowd and had compassion on them and healed their sick.
And departing from there, Jesus went along the Sea of Galilee, and he went up on the mountain [and] was sitting there. And large crowds came to him, having with them [the] mute, blind, lame, crippled, and many others, and they put them down at his feet, and he healed them. So then the crowd was astonished [when they] saw the mute speaking, the crippled healthy, and the lame walking, and the blind seeing, and they praised the God of Israel.
Therefore, by much more, [because we] have been declared righteous now by his blood, we will be saved through him from the wrath.
because God did not appoint us for wrath, but for the obtaining of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
You, therefore, my child, be strong in the grace [that is] in Christ Jesus,
The grace of the Lord Jesus [be] with all.
and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me, and that [life] I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
and live in love, just as also Christ loved us, and gave himself for us an offering and sacrifice to God for a fragrant smell.
So he said, "Who are you, Lord?" And he [said], "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting!
and last of all, as it were to one born at the wrong time, he appeared also to me.
And [when] the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.
because the Lamb [who is] in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and will lead them to springs of living waters, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."
And Jesus said to them, "Truly I say to you that in the renewal [of the world], when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me--you also will sit on twelve thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man arriving on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
And Jesus came and touched them [and] said, "Get up and do not be afraid."
And having compassion, Jesus touched their eyes, and immediately they received [their] sight and followed him.
And he came up [and] touched the bier, and those who were carrying [it] stopped. And he said, "Young man, I say to you, get up!" And the dead man sat up and began to speak, and he gave him to his mother.
And [when he] had said these [things], he cried out with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" The one who had died came out, his feet and his hands bound with strips of cloth, and his face wrapped with a facecloth. Jesus said to them, "Untie him and let him go."
Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the scriptures, 'The stone which the builders rejected, this has become {the cornerstone}. This came about from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes'?
And behold, the whole town came out to meet Jesus, and [when they] saw him, they implored [him] that he would depart from their region.
As many as I love, I reprove and discipline. Be zealous, therefore, and repent!
So Jesus said, "Leave her alone, so that she may keep it for the day of my preparation for burial.
but has now been disclosed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought to light life and immortality through the gospel,
and the life was revealed, and we have seen and testify and announce to you the eternal life which was with the Father and was revealed to us--
The one who does not love me does not keep my words, and the word that you hear is not mine, but the Father's who sent me.
If anyone teaches other doctrine and does not devote himself to the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching [that is] in accordance with godliness,
Therefore, holy brothers, sharers in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession,
Therefore he was obligated to be made like his brothers in all [respects], in order that he could become a merciful and faithful high priest in the things relating to God, in order to make atonement for the sins of the people.
For a child has been born for us; a son has been given to us. And the dominion will be on his shoulder, and his name is called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. {His dominion will grow continually, and to peace there will be no end} on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and sustain it with justice and righteousness now and forever. The zeal of Yahweh of hosts will do this.
And to him was given dominion and glory and kingship that all the peoples, the nations, and languages [would] serve him; his dominion [is] a dominion {without end} that will not cease, and his kingdom [is one] that will not be destroyed.
And they came to Jericho. And [as] he was setting out from Jericho along with his disciples and a large crowd, a blind beggar, Bartimaeus the son of Timaeus, was sitting beside the road.
And [as] Jesus was going away from there, two blind men followed him, crying out and saying, "Have mercy on us, Son of David!"
And behold, [there were] two blind men sitting beside the road. [When they] heard that Jesus was passing by, they called out, saying, "Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!"
Then a demon-possessed man [who was] blind and mute was brought to him. And he healed him so that the [man who was] mute could speak and see.
Now [as] they were going away, behold, they brought to him a demon-possessed man [who was] unable to speak.
And he was expelling a mute demon. Now it happened that [when] the demon came out, the man who had been mute spoke, and the crowds were astonished.
And he did not reply to him, not even with reference to one statement, so that the governor was very astonished.
And the chief priests began to accuse him [of] many [things].
He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was brought like lamb to [the] slaughter, and like a sheep is dumb before its shearers, so he did not open his mouth.
He will not cry out and lift up and make his voice heard in the street.
But immediately a woman whose young daughter was possessed by an unclean spirit, [when she] heard about him, came [and] fell down at his feet,
And behold, a Canaanite woman from that district came [and] cried out, saying, "Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter [is] severely possessed by a demon!"
And Jesus summoned his disciples [and] said, "I have compassion on the crowd, because they have remained with me three days already and do not have anything to eat, and I do not want to send them away hungry lest they give out on the way."
And they ate and were satisfied, and they picked up the broken pieces that were left, seven baskets [full].
I in them, and you in me, in order that they may be completed in one, so that the world may know that you sent me, and you have loved them just as you have loved me.
But if Christ [is] in you, the body [is] dead because of sin, but the Spirit [is] life because of righteousness.
who was declared Son of God in power according to {the Holy Spirit} by the resurrection from the dead of Jesus Christ our Lord,
who is the radiance of his glory and the representation of his essence, sustaining all [things] by the word of power. [When he] had made purification for sins through him, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
For we have found this man [to be] a public menace and one who causes riots among all the Jews throughout the Roman Empire and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes,
And he came [and] lived in a town called Nazareth, in order that what was said by the prophets would be fulfilled: "He will be called a Nazarene."
A voice [is] calling in the wilderness, "Clear the way of Yahweh! Make a highway smooth in the desert for our God!
Thomas answered and said to him, "My Lord and my God!"
And they were bringing young children to him so that he could touch them, but the disciples rebuked them.
And [after] taking [them] into his arms, he blessed them, placing his hands on them.
For it is necessary for him to reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be abolished [is] death.
He will {destroy} death forever, and the Lord Yahweh will wipe off [the] tears from all faces, and he will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth, for Yahweh has spoken.
because you will not abandon my soul in Hades, nor will you permit your Holy One to experience decay.
And you must know and you must understand [that] from [the] time of the going out of [the] word to restore and build Jerusalem until [an] anointed [one]-- leader--[will be] {seven weeks and sixty-two weeks}; it will be restored and will be built [with] streets and moat, but {in a time of oppression}.
This one first found his own brother Simon and said to him, "We have found the Messiah!" (which is translated "Christ").
And he said to them, "O foolish and slow in heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!
So Jesus answered [and] said, "O unbelieving and perverted generation! {How long} will I be with you and put up with you? Bring your son here!"
And [when] the Lord saw her, he had compassion for her and said to her, "Do not weep!"
Jesus wept.
Now [when] he entered Capernaum, a centurion approached him, appealing to him
Now a certain centurion's slave, who was esteemed by him, {was sick} [and] was about to die.
He is not here, but has been raised! Remember how he spoke to you [while he] was still in Galilee,
No one takes it from me, but I lay it down {voluntarily}. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take possession of it again. This commandment I received from my Father."
And he said to them, "What [things]?" So they said to him, "The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene, a man who was a prophet, powerful in deed and word before God and all the people,
Moses said, 'The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brothers. You will listen to him in everything that he says to you.
And many of them were saying, "He has a demon and is out of his mind! Why do you listen to him?"
The crowd replied, "You have a demon! Who is seeking to kill you?"
And he took him away from the crowd by himself [and] put his fingers into his ears, and [after] spitting, he touched his tongue.
And his ears were opened and {his difficulty in speaking was removed} and he began to speak normally.
and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David,
For my eyes have seen your salvation
And [after] convulsing him and crying out with a loud voice, the unclean spirit came out of him.
And Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be silent and come out of him!" And [after] throwing him down in their midst, the demon came out of him without hurting him at all.
My beloved [is] radiant and {ruddy}, distinguished {among} ten thousand.
And the child was growing and becoming strong, filled with wisdom, and the favor of God was upon him.
For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came about through Jesus Christ.
I [am] a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys.
In him was life, and the life was the light of humanity.
For just as the Father has life in himself, thus also he has granted to the Son to have life in himself.
Thus also it is written, "The first man, Adam, became a living soul"; the last Adam [became] a life-giving spirit.
For the love of Christ controls us, [because we] have concluded this: that one died for all; as a result all died.
For no one is able to lay another foundation than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at once, the majority of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep.
Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles,
and that he was buried, and that he was raised up on the third day according to the scriptures,
Therefore if anyone [is] in Christ, [he is] a new creation; the old [things] have passed away; behold, new [things] have come.
For no one is able to lay another foundation than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to proclaim the gospel, not with {clever speech}, lest the cross of Christ be emptied.
and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual rock that followed [them], and the rock was Christ.
and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve,
God [is] faithful, by whom you were called to fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
[that] Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith (you having been firmly rooted and established in love), in order that you may be strong enough to grasp together with all the saints what [is] the breadth, and length, and height, and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, in order that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that [although he] was rich, for your sake he became poor, in order that you, by his poverty, may become rich.
{I give thanks} to the one who strengthens me, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he considered me faithful, placing [me] into ministry, [although I] was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, but I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief,
among whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that they would not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
"I, Jesus, sent my angel to testify to you about these [things] for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star."
"I, Jesus, sent my angel to testify to you about these [things] for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star."
And the high priest stood up [and] said to him, "Do you reply nothing? What are these [people] testifying against you?" But Jesus was silent. And the high priest said to him, "I put you under oath by the living God, that you tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God!"
For many live, of whom I spoke about to you many times, but now speak about even weeping, [as] the enemies of the cross of Christ,
And when I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead person, and he placed his right hand on me, saying, "Do not be afraid! I am the first and the last,
Then he touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith let it be done for you." And their eyes were opened, and Jesus sternly warned them, saying, "See [that] no one finds out."
Behold, I stand at the door and knock! If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, indeed I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with me.
"And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: "This is what the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the originator of God's creation, says:
"And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: "This is what the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the originator of God's creation, says:
Behold, I stand at the door and knock! If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, indeed I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with me.
and his feet [were] like fine bronze when it has been fired in a furnace, and his voice [was] like the sound of many waters,
and the one who lives, and I was dead, and behold, I am living {forever and ever}, and I hold the keys of death and of Hades.
Therefore, [because we] have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast to our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is not able to sympathize with our weaknesses, but who has been tempted in all [things] in the same way, without sin.
and may be found in him, not having my righteousness [which is] from the law, but [which is] through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God on the basis of faith,
to whom God wanted to make known what [is] the glorious wealth of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory,
Behold, I stand at the door and knock! If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, indeed I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with me.
{More than that}, even consider all [things] to be loss because of the surpassing greatness of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for the sake of whom I have suffered the loss of all [things], and consider [them] dung, in order that I may gain Christ
having destroyed the certificate of indebtedness in ordinances against us, which was hostile to us, and removed it out of the way [by] nailing it to the cross.
saying with a loud voice, "Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!"
And when I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead person, and he placed his right hand on me, saying, "Do not be afraid! I am the first and the last,
and through him to reconcile all [things] to himself, [by] making peace through the blood of his cross, through him, whether things on earth or things in heaven.
And all those who live on the earth will worship him, {everyone whose name is not written} from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slaughtered.
which he will make known in his own time, the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of those who reign as kings and Lord of those who rule as lords,
which he will make known in his own time, the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of those who reign as kings and Lord of those who rule as lords,
and he subjected all [things] under his feet and gave him [as] head over all [things] to the church,
and he subjected all [things] under his feet and gave him [as] head over all [things] to the church,
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
'I know your works (behold, I have put before you an opened door that no one is able to shut) that you have a little strength, and have kept my word, and did not deny my name.
And I will cut off [the] chariot from Ephraim, and [the] horse from Jerusalem; the battle bow will be cut down, and he will announce peace to the nations. His dominion [will be] from sea to sea, and from [the] River to [the] ends of [the] earth.
and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me, and that [life] I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
and might reconcile both in one body to God through the cross, killing the enmity in himself.
Now to the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, to the only God, [be] honor and glory {forever and ever}. Amen.
and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To the one who loves us and released us from our sins by his blood
and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To the one who loves us and released us from our sins by his blood
and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To the one who loves us and released us from our sins by his blood
But [as] for me, may it never be [that I] boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, the one who is and the one who was and the one who is coming, the All-Powerful.
And large crowds came to him, having with them [the] mute, blind, lame, crippled, and many others, and they put them down at his feet, and he healed them.
And he withdrew from them about a stone's throw and {knelt down} [and] began to pray, saying, "Father, if you are willing, take away this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will but yours be done." [[
For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there in the midst of them."
I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you release on earth will be released in heaven."
Come to me, all [of you] who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.
From that time [on] Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many [things] from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised on the third day.
And taking along Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be distressed and troubled.
teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the age."
And [when they] saw him, they worshiped [him], but some doubted.
Now may the God of peace, who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant,
"If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, in order that he may be with you {forever}--
And going forward a little he fell down on his face, praying and saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me. Nevertheless, not as I will, but as you [will]."
And Simon Peter answered [and] said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God!"
Because of this the Father loves me, because I lay down my life so that I may take possession of it again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down {voluntarily}. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take possession of it again. This commandment I received from my Father."
Then Jesus answered [and] said to her, "O woman, your faith [is] great! Let it be done for you as you want." And her daughter was healed from that hour.
Then Jesus answered [and] said to her, "O woman, your faith [is] great! Let it be done for you as you want." And her daughter was healed from that hour.
And they were imploring him that they might only touch the edge of his cloak, and all those who touched [it] were cured.
And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields on account of my name will receive a hundred times as much, and will inherit eternal life.
And having compassion, Jesus touched their eyes, and immediately they received [their] sight and followed him.
"Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How many times I wanted to gather your children together {the way} a hen gathers her young together under [her] wings, and you were not willing!
The one who finds his life will lose it, and the one who loses his life because of me will find it.
and you will be hated by everyone because of my name. But the one who endures to the end--this one will be saved.
And seeing a single fig tree by the road, he went to it and found nothing on it except leaves only. And he said to it, "May there be no more fruit from you {forever}, and the fig tree withered at once.
Now [when] they arrived in Capernaum, the ones who collected the double drachma [tax] came up to Peter and said, "Does your teacher not pay the double drachma [tax]?"
Carry the burdens of one another, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
Take my yoke on you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
and live in love, just as also Christ loved us, and gave himself for us an offering and sacrifice to God for a fragrant smell.
And [when he] found one very valuable pearl, he went [and] sold everything that he possessed and purchased it.
For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and at that time he will reward each one according to {what he has done}.
And the crowds were saying, "This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth of Galilee!"
"Behold my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved in whom my soul is well pleased. I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles.
For [there is] one God and one mediator between God and human beings, the man Christ Jesus,
And Jesus approached [and] spoke to them, saying, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Look! Your king comes to you; he [is] righteous and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, and on a male donkey, {the foal of} a female donkey!
The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Behold, a man [who is] a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' But wisdom is vindicated by her deeds."
Then the high priest tore his robes, saying, "He has blasphemed! What further need do we have of witnesses? Behold, you have just now heard the blasphemy!
And one of the rulers of the synagogue came--Jairus by name--and [when he] saw him, he fell down at his feet. And he was imploring him many [times], saying, "My little daughter {is at the point of death}! Come, lay your hands on her, so that she will get well and will live."
And behold, a woman in the town who was a sinner, [when she] learned that he was dining in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of perfumed oil, and standing behind [him] at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with [her] tears and was wiping [them] with the hair of her head and was kissing his feet and anointing [them] with the perfumed oil.
And he touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to serve him.
But the report about him spread even more, and large crowds were gathering to hear [him] and to be healed of their illnesses. But he himself was withdrawing in the wilderness and praying.
And [after he] had said farewell to them, he went away to the mountain to pray. And [when] evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea and he [was] alone on the land.
Therefore also he is able to save completely those who draw near to God through him, [because he] always lives in order to intercede on their behalf.
Therefore, I will divide to him [a portion] among the many, and with [the] strong ones he will divide bounty, {because} he poured his life out to death and was counted with [the] transgressors; and he was the one who bore the sin of many and will intercede for the transgressors.
So Jesus said to the twelve, "You do not want to go away also, [do you]?" Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life.
And he saw that there was no man, and he was appalled that there was no one who intercedes, so his arm came to assist him, and his righteousness {was what} sustained him.
And just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, thus it is necessary [that] the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him will have eternal life."
And behold, Jesus met them, saying, "Greetings!" And they came up [and] took hold of his feet and worshiped him.
For you were going astray like sheep, but you have turned back now to the shepherd and guardian of your souls.
Yahweh is my shepherd; I will not lack [for anything]. In grassy pastures he makes me lie down; by quiet waters he leads me.
He will feed his flock like a shepherd; he will gather [the] lambs in his arm, and he will carry [them] in his bosom; he will lead those who nurse.
"Do not be astonished [at] this, because an hour is coming in which all those in the tombs will hear his voice and they will come out--those who have done good [things] to a resurrection of life, but those who have practiced evil [things] to a resurrection of judgment.
thus also Christ, having been offered once in order to bear the sins of many, will appear for the second time without reference to sin to those who eagerly await him for salvation.
Now [when] Jesus heard [this], he was astonished, and said to those who were following [him], "Truly I say to you, I have found such great faith with no one in Israel.
And [when he] came into the house, the blind men approached him, and Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They said to him, "Yes, Lord."
[As] he was saying these [things] to them, behold, one of the rulers came [and] knelt down before him, saying, "My daughter has just now died, but come, place your hand on her and she will live!"
Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute [you] and say all kinds of evil things against you, lying on account of me.
where Jesus, the forerunner for us, entered, [because he] became a high priest {forever} according to the order of Melchizedek.
For a high priest such as this indeed is fitting for us, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and having become exalted [above] the heavens,
who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, with angels and authorities and powers having been subjected to him.
Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus from Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. (Now it was Mary who anointed the Lord with perfumed oil and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.) So the sisters sent [word] to him, saying, "Lord, behold, [the one] whom you love is sick."
And [when he] heard [it], Jesus said, "This sickness is not to death, but for the glory of God, in order that the Son of God may be glorified through it." (Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.) So when he heard that he was sick, then he remained in the place {where} he was two days. Then after this he said to the disciples, "Let us go to Judea again." The disciples said to him, "Rabbi, the Jews were seeking just now to stone you, and are you going there again?" Jesus replied, Are [there] not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks around in the daylight, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. But if anyone walks around in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him. He said these [things], and after this he said to them, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I am going so that I can awaken him." So the disciples said to him, "Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will get well." (Now Jesus had been speaking about his death, but they thought that he was speaking about {real sleep}.) So Jesus then said to them plainly, "Lazarus has died, and I am glad {for your sake} that I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him." Then Thomas (the one who is called Didymus) said to his fellow disciples, "Let us go also, so that we may die with him." So [when he] arrived, Jesus found he had already [been] four days in the tomb. (Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about fifteen stadia. So many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary in order to console them concerning their brother.) Now Martha, when she heard that Jesus was coming, went to meet him, but Mary was sitting in the house. So Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. Even now I know that whatever you ask God, God will grant you." Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again." Martha said to him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day." Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me, even if he dies, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die {forever}. Do you believe this?" She said to him, "Yes, Lord, I have believed that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who comes into the world." And [when she] had said this, she went and called her sister Mary privately, saying, "The Teacher is here and is calling for you." So that one, when she heard [it], got up quickly and went to him. (Now Jesus has not yet come into the village, but was still in the place where Martha went to meet him.) So the Jews who were with her in the house and were consoling her, [when they] saw Mary--that she stood up quickly and went out--followed her, [because they] thought that she was going to the tomb in order to weep there. Then Mary, when she came where Jesus was [and] saw him, fell at his feet, saying to him, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died." Then Jesus, when he saw her weeping and the Jews who came with her weeping, was deeply moved in spirit and was troubled within himself. And he said, "Where have you laid him?" They said to him, "Lord, come and see." Jesus wept. So the Jews were saying, "See how he loved him!" But some of them said, "Was not this man who opened the eyes of the blind able to do [something] so that this man also would not have died?" Then Jesus, deeply moved within himself again, came to the tomb. Now it was a cave, and a stone was lying on it. Jesus said, "Take away the stone." Martha, the sister of the one who had died, said to him, "Lord, he is stinking already, because it has been four days." Jesus said to her, "Did I not say to you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?" So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes above and said, "Father, I give thanks to you that you hear me. And I know that you always hear me, but for the sake of the crowd standing around I said [it], so that they may believe that you sent me." And [when he] had said these [things], he cried out with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" The one who had died came out, his feet and his hands bound with strips of cloth, and his face wrapped with a facecloth. Jesus said to them, "Untie him and let him go."
But he turned around [and] rebuked them, and they proceeded to another village.
And [when he] saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were weary and dejected, like sheep that did not have a shepherd.
He will feed his flock like a shepherd; he will gather [the] lambs in his arm, and he will carry [them] in his bosom; he will lead those who nurse.
And it happened [as] he {was dining} in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners were coming [and] {dining} with Jesus and his disciples.
And I will put hostility between you and between the woman, and between your offspring and between her offspring; he will strike you [on the] head, and you will strike him [on the] heel."
[The] stone the builders rejected has become [the] chief cornerstone.
where Jesus, the forerunner for us, entered, [because he] became a high priest {forever} according to the order of Melchizedek.
And you shall suck [the] milk of nations, and suck [the] breast of kings, and you shall know that I [am] Yahweh your Savior, and your Redeemer, the Strong One of Jacob.
And he was there until the death of Herod, in order that what was said by the Lord through the prophet would be fulfilled, saying, "Out of Egypt I called my son."
And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have dens and birds of the sky [have] nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."
and so all Israel will be saved, just as it is written, "The deliverer will come out of Zion; he will turn away ungodliness from Jacob.
For Yahweh [is] our judge; Yahweh [is] our lawgiver. Yahweh [is] our king; he [is the one who] will save us.
And he came [and] lived in a town called Nazareth, in order that what was said by the prophets would be fulfilled: "He will be called a Nazarene."
And she will give birth to a son, and you will call his name 'Jesus,' because he will save his people from their sins."
And [when they] saw [it], the Pharisees began to say to his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?"
fixing our eyes on Jesus, the originator and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
And extending his hand he touched him, saying, "I am willing, be clean." And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
We have come to know love by this: that {he} laid down his life on behalf of us, and we ought to lay down our lives on behalf of the brothers.
Who will separate us from the love of Christ? [Will] affliction or distress or persecution or hunger or lack of sufficient clothing or danger or the sword?
Look! I made him a witness to [the] peoples, a leader and a commander [for the] peoples.
Look! I made him a witness to [the] peoples, a leader and a commander [for the] peoples.
Who [is] the one who condemns? Christ [is] the one who died, and more than that, who was raised, who is also at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.
and being perfected, he became the source of eternal salvation to all those who obey him,
And behold, a leper approached [and] worshiped him, saying, "Lord, if you are willing, you are able to make me clean."
Thus also Christ did not glorify himself to become high priest, but the one who said to him, "You are my Son, today I have begotten you,"
And the one who keeps his commandments resides in him, and he in him. And by this we know that he resides in us: by the Spirit whom he has given to us.
The one who has the Son has the life; the one who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.
But he shall judge [the] poor with righteousness, and he shall decide for [the] needy of [the] earth with rectitude. And he shall strike [the] earth with the rod of his mouth, and he shall kill [the] wicked person with the breath of his lips.
so that just as sin reigned in death, so also grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
He will not grow faint, and he will not be broken until he has established justice in the earth. And [the] coastlands wait for his teaching.
[The] Spirit of the Lord Yahweh [is] upon me, because Yahweh has anointed me, he has sent me to bring good news [to the] oppressed, to bind up {the brokenhearted}, to {proclaim} release to [the] captives and liberation to those who are bound,
And righteousness shall be the belt around his waist, and faithfulness the belt around his loins.
And the spirit of Yahweh shall rest on him-- a spirit of wisdom and understanding, a spirit of counsel and might, a spirit of knowledge and the fear of Yahweh.
He will not break a broken reed, and he not will extinguish a dim wick. He will bring justice forth in faithfulness.
Who [is] this, coming from Edom, from Bozrah [in] bright red garments? [Who is] this honored in his garment, lying down in his great strength? "[It is] I, speaking in justice, {mighty} to save!"
He will not cry out and lift up and make his voice heard in the street.
And his {breath} [is] in the fear of Yahweh. And he shall judge not by his eyesight, and he shall rebuke not by {what he hears with} his ears.
Therefore the honor [is] for you who believe, but for those who refuse to believe, "The stone that the builders rejected, this one has become {the cornerstone},"
and being perfected, he became the source of eternal salvation to all those who obey him,
Therefore, holy brothers, sharers in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession,
But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise, with healing in its wings, and you will go out and leap like {fattened calves}.
saying, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? For we have seen his star at its rising and have come to worship him."

And {she had} a sister named Mary, who also sat at the feet of Jesus [and] was listening to his teaching.
Then Mary, when she came where Jesus was [and] saw him, fell at his feet, saying to him, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died."
But Jesus answered [and] said, "{Stop! No more of this!}" And he touched [his] ear [and] healed him.

And I give them eternal life, and they will never perish {forever}, and no one will seize them out of my hand.
And he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands, he blessed them.
Now [when it] was evening on that day--the first [day] of the week--and the doors had been shut where the disciples were because of fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, "Peace to you."
And after eight days his disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. [Although] the doors had been shut, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said, "Peace to you."
And [while] they were saying these [things], he himself stood there among them.
And it happened that while they were conversing, and discussing, Jesus himself also approached [and] began to go along with them,

Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves me he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and {will take up residence with him}.
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

From this [point on] Pilate was seeking to release him, but the Jews shouted, saying, "If you release this man, you are not a friend of Caesar! Everyone who makes himself out to be a king opposes Caesar!"
At [that] same time he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these [things] from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to young children. Yes, Father, for this was pleasing before you.
And now I am coming to you, and I am saying these [things] in the world so that they may have my joy completed in themselves.
I have spoken these [things] to you in order that my joy may be in you, and your joy may be made complete.
Now before the feast of Passover, Jesus, knowing that his hour had come that he would depart from this world to the Father, [and] having loved [his] own in the world, loved them to the end.

By faith Moses, [when he] was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw the child [was] handsome, and they were not afraid of the edict of the king.
"[You] stiff-necked [people] and uncircumcised in hearts and in [your] ears! You constantly resist the Holy Spirit! As your fathers [did], [so] also [do] you!
So Pilate said to him, "Will you not speak to me? Do you not know that I have authority to release you, and I have authority to crucify you?" Jesus replied to him, "You would not have any authority over me unless it was given to you from above. For this [reason] the one who handed me over to you has greater sin."
For we are not able to refrain from speaking about [the things] that we have seen and heard."
By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the anger of the king, for he persevered as [if he] saw the invisible one.
On the next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, "Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
and looking at Jesus [as he] was walking by, he said, "Look! The Lamb of God!"
but with the precious blood of Christ, like [that of] an unblemished and spotless lamb
Now about midnight, Paul and Silas were praying [and] singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.
Now it happened that in these days he went away to the mountain to pray, and was spending the whole night in prayer to God.
Yahweh, you [are] my God; I will exalt you. I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things, plans {of old}, [in] faithfulness, trustworthiness.
Yahweh [is] exalted, for [he] dwells [on] high; he filled Zion [with] justice and righteousness,
Be exalted, O Yahweh, in your strength, and we sing and praise your power.
[The] princes of [the] peoples are gathered together [with] the people of Abraham's God. For [the] shields of [the] earth belong to God. He is very exalted.
Be exalted above [the] heavens, O God. [Let] your glory [be] above all the earth.
Exalt Yahweh our God, and worship at his footstool. He [is] holy.
Be exalted above [the] heavens, O God, and [let] your glory [be] above all the earth,
You [are] my God, and I will give thanks to you. [You are] my God; I will exalt you.
And you will say on that day, "Give thanks to Yahweh; call on his name. Make his deeds known among the peoples; bring to remembrance that his name [is] exalted.
For consider the one who endured such hostility by sinners against himself, so that you will not grow weary in your souls [and] give up.
Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God: that you believe in [the one] whom that one sent."
testifying both to Jews and to Greeks with respect to repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus.
I fast twice a week; I give a tenth of all that I get.'
And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing during those days, and [when] they were completed, he was hungry.
Therefore the Lord Yahweh says this: "Look! I [am] laying a stone in Zion, a {tested} stone, a precious cornerstone, a founded foundation: 'The one who trusts will not {panic}.'
For no one is able to lay another foundation than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Now before the feast of Passover, Jesus, knowing that his hour had come that he would depart from this world to the Father, [and] having loved [his] own in the world, loved them to the end.
and Joanna the wife of Chuza (Herod's household manager), and Susanna, and many others who were helping to support them from their possessions.
And there were many women there, observing from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, serving him,
who used to follow him and serve him when he was in Galilee, and many other [women] who went up with him to Jerusalem.
But [when he] heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there, and being warned in a dream, he took refuge in the regions of Galilee.
And he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was submitting to them. And his mother treasured all these things in her heart.
And when they had completed everything according to the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth.
And he went around through all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and every sickness among the people.
But after I am raised, I will go ahead of you into Galilee."
And go quickly, tell his disciples, 'He has been raised from the dead, and behold, he is going ahead of you into Galilee. You will see him there.' Behold, I have told you."
Now [as he] was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew, throwing a casting net into the sea (for they were fishermen).
And going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James the [son] of Zebedee and his brother John, in the boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets, and he called them.
Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard, and a female slave came up to him [and] said, "You also were with Jesus the Galilean."
They answered and said to him, "You are not also from Galilee, [are you]? Investigate and see that a prophet does not arise from Galilee!" [[
And he went into all Galilee preaching in their synagogues and expelling demons.
And he was preaching in the synagogues of Judea.
Now when Jesus knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John
he left Judea and departed again for Galilee.
And large crowds followed him from Galilee, Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and from the other side of the Jordan.
{But there will be no gloom for those who were in distress}. In former times he treated [the] land of Zebulun and Naphtali with contempt, but in the future he will honor the way of the sea beyond the Jordan, Galilee [of] the nations. The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; light has shined on those who lived in a land of darkness.
So when he came to Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him, [because they] had seen all [the things] he had done in Jerusalem at the feast (for they themselves had also come to the feast).
For Christ did not enter into a sanctuary made by hands, a [mere] copy of the true [one], but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf,
where Jesus, the forerunner for us, entered, [because he] became a high priest {forever} according to the order of Melchizedek.
and not by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood, he entered once for all into the [most] holy place, obtaining eternal redemption.
whom heaven must receive until the times of the restoration of all [things], about which God spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets from earliest times.
who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, with angels and authorities and powers having been subjected to him.
And Jesus approached [and] spoke to them, saying, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
For a high priest such as this indeed is fitting for us, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and having become exalted [above] the heavens,
For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in his footsteps, who did not commit sin, nor was deceit found in his mouth,
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for her; in order that he might sanctify her by cleansing [her] with the washing of water by the word; in order that he might present to himself the church glorious, not having a spot or wrinkle or any such [thing], but that she may be holy and blameless.
Sanctify them in the truth--your word is truth.
For consider the one who endured such hostility by sinners against himself, so that you will not grow weary in your souls [and] give up.
And it happened, when Joshua was by Jericho, {he looked up}, and he saw a man standing {opposite him} [with] his sword drawn in his hand. And Joshua went to him and said, "Are you with us, or with our adversaries?" And he said, "Neither. I have come now [as] the commander of Yahweh's army." And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and {he bowed down} and said to him, "What [is] my lord commanding his servant?" The commander of Yahweh's army said to Joshua, "Take off your sandals from your feet, for the place where you [are] standing [is] holy." And Joshua did so.
who appeared in glory [and] were speaking [about] his departure which he was about to fulfill in Jerusalem.
For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, [because they] did not recognize this one, and the voices of the prophets that are read on every Sabbath, fulfilled [them] [by] condemning [him].
And when they had carried out all the things that were written about him, they took [him] down from the tree [and] placed [him] in a tomb.
"Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How many times I wanted to gather your children together {the way} a hen gathers her young together under [her] wings, and you were not willing!
And when he approached [and] saw the city, he wept over it,
And the crowds who went ahead of him and the ones who followed were shouting, saying, "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed [is] the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest [heaven]!" And [when] he entered into Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, "Who is this?"
So [throughout] the days he was teaching in the temple [courts], and [throughout] the nights he was going out [and] spending the night on the hill that is called [the Mount] of Olives. And all the people were getting up very early in the morning [to come] to him in the temple [courts] to listen to him.
So when he came to Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him, [because they] had seen all [the things] he had done in Jerusalem at the feast (for they themselves had also come to the feast).
and Jacob became the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary by whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
And he said to them, "But who do you say [that] I am?" And Peter answered [and] said, "The Christ of God."
And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem {whose name was} Simeon, and this man [was] righteous and devout, looking forward to the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.
[and] said to him, "Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?"
And at [that] same hour she approached [and] began to give thanks to God, and to speak about him to all those who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.
{Oh that from Zion} [would come] salvation [for] Israel! When Yahweh returns the fortunes of his people, Jacob will rejoice; Israel will be happy.
And he said to her, "What do you want?" She said to him, "Say that these two sons of mine may sit one at your right hand and one at your left in your kingdom."
But we were hoping that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. But in addition to all these [things], this [is] the third day {since} these [things] took place.
So [when] they had come together, they began asking him, saying, "Lord, [is it] at this time you are restoring the kingdom to Israel?"
Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?" And they were offended by him.
[He was] despised and rejected [by] men, a man of suffering, and acquainted with sickness, and like {one from whom others hide their faces}, [he was] despised, and we did not hold him in high regard.
He came to his own [things], and his own [people] did not receive him.
Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who announced beforehand about the coming of the Righteous One, whose betrayers and murderers you have now become,
who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and who persecuted us, and [who are] not pleasing to God and [are] opposed to all people,
And you must know and you must understand [that] from [the] time of the going out of [the] word to restore and build Jerusalem until [an] anointed [one]-- leader--[will be] {seven weeks and sixty-two weeks}; it will be restored and will be built [with] streets and moat, but {in a time of oppression}.
The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff between his feet, until Shiloh comes. And to him shall be the obedience of nations.
[to] whom [belong] the patriarchs, and from whom [is] the Christ according to human descent, who is God over all, blessed {forever}! Amen.
For [it is] evident that our Lord is a descendant of Judah, a tribe [with reference] to which Moses said nothing concerning priests.
Therefore [in] all [things], whatever you want that people should do to you, thus also you do to them. For this is the law and the prophets.
And he said to him, " 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the greatest and first commandment. And the second [is] like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'

On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets."
"Do not think that I have come to destroy the law or the prophets. I have not come to destroy [them] but to fulfill [them].
Yahweh was willing for the sake of his righteousness; he showed [his] teaching to be great and proved [it] to be glorious.
The Holy Spirit [was] making this clear, [that] the way [into] the holy place [was] not yet revealed, [while] the first tent was still in existence,
For the law, possessing a shadow of the good [things] that are about to come, not the form of things itself, [is] never able {year by year} by means of the same sacrifices which they offer without interruption to make perfect those who draw near.
But Christ has arrived [as] a high priest of the good [things] to come. Through the greater and more perfect tent not made by hands, that is, not of this creation, and not by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood, he entered once for all into the [most] holy place, obtaining eternal redemption. For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a young cow sprinkled on those who are defiled sanctify [them] for the ritual purity of the flesh,

how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, cleanse our consciences from dead works to serve [the] living God?
And every priest stands every day serving and offering the same sacrifices many times, which are never able to take away sins. But this one, [after he] had offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God, from now on waiting until his enemies are made a footstool for his feet.

For by one offering he has perfected for all time those who are made holy.
Now on the last day of the feast--the great [day]--Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me, and let him drink,
Now while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in his name [because they] saw his signs which he was doing.
Now the feast of the Jews--the [feast of] Tabernacles--was near.
But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not openly, but (as it were) in secret.
his dead body shall not hang on the tree, but certainly you shall bury him on that day, for cursed by God [is] one that is [being] hung; so you shall not defile your land that Yahweh your God [is] giving to you [as an] inheritance."
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law [by] becoming a curse for us, because it is written, "Cursed [is] everyone who hangs on a tree,"
For I say, Christ has become a servant of the circumcision on behalf of the truth of God, in order to confirm the promises to the fathers,
And when eight days were completed {so that he could be circumcised}, he was named Jesus, his name [that] [he] was called by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
"Do not think that I have come to destroy the law or the prophets. I have not come to destroy [them] but to fulfill [them]. For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one tiny letter or one stroke of a letter will pass away from the law until all takes place.
But when the fullness of time came, God sent out his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
Yahweh was willing for the sake of his righteousness; he showed [his] teaching to be great and proved [it] to be glorious.
Then I said, "Look, I come. In [the] scroll of [the] book it is written concerning me: 'I delight to do your will, O my God, and your law [is] {deep within me}.'"
So then, my brothers, you also were brought to death with respect to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to the one who was raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God.
he is like a man building a house, who dug and went down deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And [when] a flood came, the river burst against that house and was not able to shake it, because it had been built well.
And {she had} a sister named Mary, who also sat at the feet of Jesus [and] was listening to his teaching.
Finally, brothers, whatever [things] are true, whatever [things are] honorable, whatever [things are] right, whatever [things are] pure, whatever [things are] pleasing, whatever [things are] commendable, if [there is] any excellence of character and if anything praiseworthy, think about these [things].
For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
He reveals the deep and the hidden things; he knows what [is] in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.
For to us God has revealed [them] through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all [things], even the depths of God.
Instead, in the law of Yahweh [is] his delight, and on his law he meditates day and night.
in order that you may be strong enough to grasp together with all the saints what [is] the breadth, and length, and height, and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, in order that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.
But [he] must also have a good testimony from those outside, in order that he may not fall into disgrace and the trap of the devil.
Only lead your lives in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent I hear {your circumstances}, that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one soul contending side by side for the faith of the gospel,
Who [is] wise and understanding among you? Let him show by his good behavior his works, with the humility of wisdom.
[Because] all these things are being destroyed in this way, what sort of [people] must you be in holy behavior and godliness,
so that you may live decently toward those outside, and may have need of nothing.
and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die {forever}. Do you believe this?"
but has now been disclosed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought to light life and immortality through the gospel,
And he said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise."
Truly, truly I say to you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never experience death {forever}."
And Elijah appeared to them together with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus.
He is not God of the dead, but of the living. You are very much mistaken!"
You are the light of the world. A city located on top of a hill cannot be hidden,
"No one [after] lighting a lamp puts [it] in a cellar or under a bushel basket, but on a lampstand, so that those who come in can see the light.
For, I think, God has exhibited us apostles last of all, as condemned to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world and to angels and to people.
but has now been disclosed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought to light life and immortality through the gospel,
and the life was revealed, and we have seen and testify and announce to you the eternal life which was with the Father and was revealed to us--
In him was life, and the life was the light of humanity.
For just as the Father has life in himself, thus also he has granted to the Son to have life in himself.
The one who has the Son has the life; the one who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.
so that just as sin reigned in death, so also grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me, even if he dies, will live,
The thief {comes only} so that he can steal and kill and destroy; I have come so that they may have life, and have [it] abundantly.
and all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual rock that followed [them], and the rock was Christ.
Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, [so] also the one who eats me--that one will live because of me.
Therefore, since the children share in blood and flesh, he also in like manner shared in these [same things], in order that through death he could destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,
And the Word became flesh and took up residence among us, and we saw his glory, glory as of the one and only from the Father, full of grace and truth.
For surely he is not concerned with angels, but he is concerned with the descendants of Abraham.
For since through a man [came] death, also through a man [came] the resurrection of the dead. For just as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.
The first man [is] from the earth, made of earth; the second man [is] from heaven.
But I want you to know that Christ is the head of every man, and the man [is the] head of the woman, and [the] head of Christ [is] God.
he humbled himself [by] becoming obedient to the point of death, that is, death on a cross.
but emptied himself [by] taking the form of a slave, [by] becoming in the likeness of people. And being found in appearance like a man,
And each one will be like a hiding place from [the] wind and a covering from [the] rainstorm, like streams of water in a dry region, like [the] shade of a large rock in a weary land.
"Israelite men, listen to these words! Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with deeds of power and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, just as [you] yourselves know--
and because he did not {need} anyone {to testify} about man, for he himself knew what was in man.
Then Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly I say to you, Moses did not give you bread from heaven, but my Father is giving you the true bread from heaven! For the bread of God is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world." So they said to him, "Sir, always give us this bread!"

Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. The one who comes to me will never be hungry, and the one who believes in me will never be thirsty again.
whom God made publicly available as the mercy seat through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness, because of the passing over of previously committed sins,
And after the second curtain [was] a tent called the holy of holies,
It is necessary [for] us to do the deeds of the one who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work!
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save those who are lost."
And both the Pharisees and the scribes were complaining, saying, "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them!"
And [when they] saw [it], they all began to complain, saying, "He has gone in to find lodging with a man who is a sinner!"
And the Pharisees and their scribes began to complain to his disciples, saying, "Why do you eat and drink with the tax collectors and sinners?"
Now the Jews began to grumble about him because he said, "I am the bread that came down from heaven," and they were saying, "Is this one not Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How does he now say, 'I have come down from heaven'?" Jesus answered and said to them, "Do not grumble {among yourselves}!
So the Jews began to quarrel {among themselves}, saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?"
For a high priest such as this indeed is fitting for us, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and having become exalted [above] the heavens,
If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness has been fathered by him.
Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered,
Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered him saying, "Teacher, we want to see a sign from you!" But he answered [and] said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation desires a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah!
Then the disciples came [and] said to him, "Do you know that the Pharisees were offended [when they] heard this saying?"
{None} of the rulers or of the Pharisees have believed in him, [have they]?
And Pharisees came up to him [in order to] test him, and asked if it was permitted for a man to divorce his wife for any cause.
And one of them, a legal expert, put a question to [him] to test him:
Then the Pharisees went {and consulted} so that they could entrap him with a statement. And they sent their disciples to him with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that you are truthful and teach the way of God in truth, and {you do not care what anyone thinks}, {because you do not regard the opinion of people}.
Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these [things], and they ridiculed him.
And [when] the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they knew that he was speaking about them,
Then the disciples came [and] said to him, "Do you know that the Pharisees were offended [when they] heard this saying?"
Now [when] the Pharisee who invited him saw [this], he spoke to himself, saying, "If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what kind of woman [this is] who is touching him, that she is a sinner."
And [when they] saw [it], the Pharisees began to say to his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?"
Now all the tax collectors and the sinners were drawing near to hear him. And both the Pharisees and the scribes were complaining, saying, "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them!"
And Jesus said to them, "Watch out for and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees!"
How do you not understand that I did not speak to you about bread? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees!" Then they understood that he did not say to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Fools and blind [people]! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that makes the gold holy?
And [when] the Pharisees and Sadducees came to test [him], they asked him to show them a sign from heaven.
Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered him saying, "Teacher, we want to see a sign from you!"
Now one of the Pharisees asked him to eat with him, and he entered into the house of the Pharisee [and] reclined at the table.
And as he was speaking, a Pharisee asked him {to have a meal} with him, and he went in [and] reclined at table.
"But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees--hypocrites!--because you shut the kingdom of heaven before people! For you do not enter, nor permit those wanting to go in to enter. "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees--hypocrites!--because you travel around the sea and the dry [land] to make one convert, and when he becomes [one], you make him twice as much a son of hell [as] you [are]! In the [same] way, on the outside you also appear righteous to people, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness. "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees--hypocrites!--because you build the tombs of the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous, and you say, 'If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in the blood of the prophets!' How will you escape from the condemnation to hell?
But he answered [and] said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation desires a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah!

For I say to you that unless your righteousness greatly surpasses [that] of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Now when Jesus knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John (although Jesus himself was not baptizing, but his disciples), he left Judea and departed again for Galilee.
Woe to you, because you are like unmarked graves, and the people who walk over [them] do not know [it]!
So the scribes and the Pharisees were watching closely [to see] if he would heal on the Sabbath, in order that they could find [a reason] to accuse him.
And the one who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, because I always do the things that are pleasing to him."
And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have dens and birds of the sky [have] nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."
And going on from there he came into their synagogue.
And he came to Nazareth, where {he had been brought up}, and according to {his custom} he entered into the synagogue on the day of the Sabbath and stood up to read.
For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there in the midst of them."
Again, truly I say to you that if two of you agree on earth about any matter that they ask, it will be done for them from my Father [who is] in heaven.
And every priest stands every day serving and offering the same sacrifices many times, which are never able to take away sins. But this one, [after he] had offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God,
Why then the law? It was added on account of transgressions, until the descendant should come to whom it had been promised, having been ordered through angels by the hand of a mediator.
Now to Abraham and to his descendant the promises were spoken. It does not say, "and to descendants," as concerning many, but as concerning one, "and to your descendant," who is Christ.
When your days [are] full and you lie down with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring after you who will go out from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. He will build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.
Because I called out and you refused me, I stretched out my hand, yet there is none who heeds.
But my people did not listen to my voice, and Israel did not yield to me.
Therefore the one who rejects [this] [is] not rejecting man, but God, [who] also gives his Holy Spirit to you.
but the Pharisees and the legal experts rejected the purpose of God for themselves, [because they] had not been baptized by him.)
Then Yahweh said to Samuel, "Listen to the voice of the people concerning all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me from being king over them.
For you know that also afterwards, [when he] wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, because he did not find an occasion for repentance, although he sought it with tears.
For rebellion [is like] the sin of divination; arrogance [is like] iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of Yahweh, he has rejected you from [being] king!"
so Yahweh rejected all the offspring of Israel and punished them, and he gave them into the hand of the plunderers until he banished them from his presence.
But he answered [and] said, 'Truly I say to you, I do not know you!'
And he will reply, saying to you, 'I do not know where you are from! Go away from me, all [you] {evildoers}!'
The one who rejects me and does not accept my words has one who judges him; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day.
He came to his own [things], and his own [people] did not receive him.
I have come in my Father's name, and you do not accept me. If another should come in his own name, you would accept that one!
But they all cried out in unison, saying, "Take this man away, and release for us Barabbas!"
And the one who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, because I always do the things that are pleasing to him."
And he said, "Abba, Father, all [things] [are] possible for you! Take away this cup from me! Yet not what I will, but what you [will]."
So Jesus said to Peter, "Put the sword into [its] sheath! The cup that the Father has given me--shall I not drink it?"
No one is able to come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up on the last day.
"Do not be astonished [at] this, because an hour is coming in which all those in the tombs will hear his voice
Now this is the will of the one who sent me: that everyone whom he has given me, I would not lose [any] of them, but raise them up on the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks at the Son and believes in him would have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day."
The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, 'Behold, a man [who is] a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!'
And those who passed by reviled him, shaking their heads
But he shall judge [the] poor with righteousness, and he shall decide for [the] needy of [the] earth with rectitude. And he shall strike [the] earth with the rod of his mouth, and he shall kill [the] wicked person with the breath of his lips.
because he has set a day on which he is going to judge the world in righteousness by the man who he has appointed, having provided proof to everyone [by] raising him from the dead."
And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and the one seated on it was called "Faithful" and "True," and with justice he judges and makes war.
May he judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice.
but concerning the Son, "Your throne, O God, [is] {forever and ever}, and the scepter of righteous [is the] scepter of your kingdom.
Your throne, O God, [is] forever and ever. A scepter of uprightness [is] the scepter of your kingdom.
See, a king will rule according to righteousness, and princes will rule according to justice.
In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell {in safety}, and this [is] his name [by] which he will be called: 'Yahweh [is] our righteousness.'
And [the] strength of [the] king loves justice. You have established equity; you have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob.
You love righteousness and hate wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you from among your companions [with] festive oil.
You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; because of this God, your God, has anointed you with the olive oil of joy more than your companions.
But from him you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom to us from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption,
And he put on righteousness like breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on his head, and he put on garments of vengeance [for] clothing, and he wrapped [himself in] zeal as [in a] robe.
And he saw that there was no man, and he was appalled that there was no one who intercedes, so his arm came to assist him, and his righteousness {was what} sustained him.
But Jesus answered [and] said to him, "Permit [it] now, for in this way it is right for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he permitted him.
"Seventy weeks is decreed for your people and {for your holy city}, to put an end to the transgression and to seal [up] sin and to make atonement for guilt and to bring [in] everlasting righteousness and to seal vision and prophet and to anoint {the most holy place}.
For Christ [is the] end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
And righteousness shall be the belt around his waist, and faithfulness the belt around his loins.
But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise, with healing in its wings, and you will go out and leap like {fattened calves}.
I have brought good tidings [of] righteousness in the great congregation. Look, I have not shut my lips. O Yahweh, {you surely know that}.
Until the day breathes and the shadows flee, turn, my beloved! {Be like} a gazelle or {young stag} on the cleft mountains.
My beloved is like a gazelle or {a young stag}. Look! {He is} standing behind our wall, gazing {through} the window, looking {through} the lattice.
And he came down to Capernaum, a town of Galilee, and was teaching them on the Sabbath.
Now it happened that on another Sabbath he entered into the synagogue and was teaching, and a man was there, and his right hand was withered.
And he came to Nazareth, where {he had been brought up}, and according to {his custom} he entered into the synagogue on the day of the Sabbath and stood up to read.
So then, the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath."
saying, "Teacher, Moses said if someone dies without having children, his brother is to marry his wife and {father} descendants for his brother. Now there were seven brothers with us. And the first died [after] getting married, and [because he] did not have descendants, he left his wife to his brother. So also the second and the third, up to the seventh.

And last of all the woman died. In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife of the seven will she be? For they all had her [as wife]." But Jesus answered [and] said to them, "You are mistaken, [because] you do not know the scriptures or the power of God! For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in heaven. Now concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God, who said, "I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob"? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living!"
"Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if someone's brother dies and he leaves behind a wife and does not leave a child, that his brother should take the wife and {father} descendants for his brother. There were seven brothers, and the first took a wife. And [when he] died, he did not leave descendants. And the second took her, and he died without leaving descendants. And the third likewise.

And the seven did not leave descendants. Last of all the woman also died. In the resurrection, when they rise, {whose} wife will she be? For the seven had her [as] wife. Jesus said to them, "Are you not deceived because of this, [because you] do not know the scriptures or the power of God? For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. Now concerning the dead, that they are raised, have you not read in the book of Moses {in the passage about the bush} how God spoke to him, saying, 'I [am] the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob'? He is not God of the dead, but of the living. You are very much mistaken!"
Now [when] the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they assembled at the same [place].
And [when] the Pharisees and Sadducees came to test [him], they asked him to show them a sign from heaven.
The saying [is] trustworthy and worthy of all acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.
Therefore also he is able to save completely those who draw near to God through him, [because he] always lives in order to intercede on their behalf.
Who [is] this, coming from Edom, from Bozrah [in] bright red garments? [Who is] this honored in his garment, lying down in his great strength? "[It is] I, speaking in justice, {mighty} to save!"
And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he too is a son of Abraham.
Look! Yahweh has proclaimed to the end of the earth: Say to daughter Zion, "Look, your salvation [is] coming! Look, his reward [is] with him, and his reward before him.
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Look! Your king comes to you; he [is] righteous and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, and on a male donkey, {the foal of} a female donkey!
For it was fitting for him for whom [are] all [things] and through whom [are] all [things] in bringing many sons to glory to perfect the originator of their salvation through sufferings.
And just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, thus it is necessary [that] the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him will have eternal life."
and being perfected, he became the source of eternal salvation to all those who obey him,
And he says, "It is trivial {for you to be} a servant for me, to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to bring back the preserved of Israel. I will give you as a light [to the] nations, to be my salvation to the end of the earth."
This one God has exalted to his right hand [as] Leader and Savior to grant repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.
and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David,
For both the one who sanctifies and the ones who are sanctified [are] all from one, for which reason he is not ashamed to call them brothers,
Therefore Jesus also suffered outside the gate, in order that he might sanctify the people by his own blood.
"Look! I [am] going to send my messenger, and he will prepare [the] way {before me}. And the Lord whom you [are] seeking will come suddenly to his temple, and the messenger of the covenant, [in] whom you [are] taking pleasure--look!--[he is] about to come," says Yahweh of hosts.
And it happened that when the angels had departed from them into heaven, the shepherds began to say to one another, "Let us go now to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has revealed to us!" And they went hurrying and found both Mary and Joseph, and the baby who was lying in the manger.
Jesus said to them, "My food is that I do the will of the one who sent me and complete his work.
Now before the feast of Passover, Jesus, knowing that his hour had come that he would depart from this world to the Father, [and] having loved [his] own in the world, loved them to the end.
You are [the most] handsome of [the] sons of humankind; grace is poured out on your lips; therefore God has blessed you forever. Gird your sword on [your] thigh, O mighty one, [in] your splendor and your majesty. And [in] your majesty {ride victoriously}, because of truth and humility [and] righteousness. And let your right hand teach you awesome deeds.

Your arrows [are] sharp; peoples fall under you in the midst of the king's enemies. Your throne, O God, [is] forever and ever. A scepter of uprightness [is] the scepter of your kingdom. You love righteousness and hate wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you from among your companions [with] festive oil. All your robes [are scented with] myrrh and aloes [and] cassia. From palaces of ivory stringed instruments gladden you. Kings' daughters [are] among your noble ladies. The queen stands at your right hand in gold of Ophir. Hear, O daughter, and {discern} and incline your ear, and forget your people and your father's house. Let the king desire your beauty. Because he [is] your lord, therefore bow down to him. Even the daughter of Tyre [will come] with a gift. [The] rich from among people will seek your {favor}. The king's daughter is all glorious within; her garment [is] of gold embroidered cloth. She is brought to the king [in] colorful garments. [The] young women behind her, her attendants, [are] being brought to you. They are led with joy and gladness. They enter [the] palace of [the] king. In place of your fathers will be your sons. You will make them princes in all the land. I will cause your name to be remembered in all generations; therefore peoples will praise you forever and ever.
Jesus answered and said to them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up!"
But he was speaking about the temple of his body.
But he answered [and] said to them, "Do you not see all these [things]? Truly I say to you, not [one] stone will be left here on [another] stone that will not be thrown down!"
And Jesus said to him, "Do you see these great buildings? Not [one] stone will be left here on [another] stone that will not be thrown down!"
"[As for] these [things] that you see--days will come in which not [one] stone will be left on [another] stone that will not be thrown down!"
I will shake all the nations so that the treasure of all the nations will come, and I will fill this house [with] glory,' says Yahweh of hosts.
Then the devil took him to the holy city and placed him on the highest point of the temple
And he brought him to Jerusalem, and had him stand on the highest point of the temple and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here,
And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus so that they could do for him according to what was customary under the law,
And when the days of their purification were completed according to the law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present [him] to the Lord
And Jesus entered the temple [courts] and drove out all those who were selling and buying in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those who were selling doves. And he said to them, "It is written, 'My house will be called a house of prayer,' but you have made it a cave of robbers!"
And he made a whip of cords [and] drove [them] all out of the temple [courts], both the sheep and the oxen, and he poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. And to the ones selling the doves he said, "Take these [things] away from here! Do not make my Father's house {a marketplace}!" His disciples remembered that it is written, "Zeal for your house will consume me."
Every day I was with you in the temple [courts] teaching, and you did not arrest me! But [this has happened] in order that the scriptures would be fulfilled.
And [when] the Pharisees and Sadducees came to test [him], they asked him to show them a sign from heaven.
And behold, a certain legal expert stood up to test him, saying, "Teacher, what must I do so that I will inherit eternal life?"
But [because he] knew their maliciousness, Jesus said, "Hypocrites! Why are you testing me?
But he answered [and] said, "It is written, 'Man will not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes out of the mouth of God."
Then Jesus said to him, "Go away, Satan, for it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God and serve only him.'"
Jesus said to him, "On the other hand it is written, 'You are not to put the Lord your God to the test.'"
"Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded to sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail. And you, [when] once you have turned back, strengthen your brothers."
For in that which he himself suffered [when he] was tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.
For we do not have a high priest who is not able to sympathize with our weaknesses, but who has been tempted in all [things] in the same way, without sin.
Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and began ministering to him.
And he was in the wilderness forty days being tempted by Satan. And he was with the wild animals, and the angels were ministering to him.
And he said, "Abba, Father, all [things] [are] possible for you! Take away this cup from me! Yet not what I will, but what you [will]."
So Jesus said to Peter, "Put the sword into [its] sheath! The cup that the Father has given me--shall I not drink it?"
Jesus said to them, "My food is that I do the will of the one who sent me and complete his work.
And the one who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, because I always do the things that are pleasing to him."
And from there he set out [and] went to the region of Tyre. And [when he] entered into a house, he wanted no one to know, and [yet] he was not able to escape notice.
And departing from there, Jesus went away to the region of Tyre and Sidon.
and from Jerusalem and from Idumea and the other side of the Jordan and around Tyre and Sidon a great crowd came to him [because they] heard all that he was doing.
And he came down with them [and] stood on a level place, and a large crowd of his disciples and a great multitude of people from all of Judea and Jerusalem and the seacoast district of Tyre and Sidon,
"Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. Nevertheless I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and for Sidon on the day of judgment than for you!
And [after we] sighted Cyprus and left it behind {on the port side}, we sailed to Syria and arrived at Tyre, because the ship was to unload [its] cargo there. And we stayed there seven days [after we] found the disciples, who kept telling Paul through the Spirit not to set foot in Jerusalem.
Now he was very angry with the Tyrians and Sidonians. So they came to him with one purpose, and [after] persuading Blastus, {the king's chamberlain}, they asked for peace, because their country was supported with food from the king's country.
Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
Jesus answered, "The most important is, 'Listen, Israel! The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that [although he] was rich, for your sake he became poor, in order that you, by his poverty, may become rich.
On behalf of such a person I will boast, but on behalf of myself I will not boast, except in my weaknesses.
