Now for this very reason you must do your level best to supplement your faith with moral character, moral character with knowledge,

for I know that I must soon put it away, as our Lord Jesus Christ has shown me.

You must understand this in the first place, that no prophecy in Scripture can be understood through one's own powers,

First of all, you must understand this, that in the last days mockers will come with their mockeries, going where their passions lead

But you must avoid forgetting this one fact, dearly beloved, that with the Lord a single day is like a thousand years and a thousand years are like a single day.

Seeing then that all these things must be dissolved, what manner of persons ought we to be in a course of holy conduct and acts of piety,

So you, dear friends, now that you are forewarned, must be on your guard against being led away by the errors of unprincipled men and losing your present firmness.

You must grow in the blessing and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Glory to him now and forever.
