When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and went and told their master all that had happened.

They said to him, "Why then did Moses command one to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?"

When the disciples heard this they were greatly astonished, saying, "Who then can be saved?"

and to them he said, 'You go into the vineyard too, and whatever is right I will give you.' So they went.

They said to him, 'Because no one has hired us.' He said to them, 'You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right you will receive.'

And when those came who were hired about the eleventh hour, they each received a denarius.

So when the first came, they thought they would receive more; but each of them also received a denarius.

And when they had received it, they complained against the landowner,

"Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn him to death,

But Jesus answered, "You do not know what you are asking for. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink?" They said to him, "We are able."

And as they went out of Jericho, a great crowd followed him.

And behold, two blind men sitting by the roadside, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, "Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!"

The crowd rebuked them, telling them to be quiet; but they cried out all the more, "Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!"

They said to him, "Lord, let our eyes be opened."

Now when they drew near Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples,

And when the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, "How did the fig tree wither away so soon?"

The baptism of Johnwhere was it from? From heaven or from men?" And they reasoned among themselves, saying, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will say to us, 'Why then did you not believe him?'

So they answered Jesus, "We do not know." And he said to them, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.

Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Truly, I say to you, the tax collectors and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.

Again he sent other servants, more than the first, and they did the same to them.

Last of all, he sent his son to them saying, 'They will respect my son,'

But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and seize his inheritance.'

They said to him, "He will put those wretches to a miserable death, and let out the vineyard to other tenants who will give him the fruits in their seasons."

When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he was speaking about them.

But when they tried to arrest him, they feared the multitudes, because they held him to be a prophet.

and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; but they were not willing to come.

But they made light of it and went off, one to his own farm, another to his business.

And those servants went out into the streets and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good; so the wedding hall was filled with guests.

And they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, "Teacher, we know that you are true, and teach the way of God in truth, and you care for no man; for you do not regard the position of men.

Show me the money for the tax." And they brought him a denarius.

When they heard it, they marveled; and they left him and went away.

And when the multitudes heard this, they were astonished at his teaching.

But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together.

"What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?" They said to him, "The son of David."

They bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with their finger.

And they love the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogues,

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which outwardly appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness.

So if they say to you, 'There he is, out in the desert,' do not go out; or, 'Here he is, in the inner rooms,' do not believe it.

For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,

and they did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

While the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.

But when the disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, "Why this waste?

and said, "What are you willing to give me if I deliver him to you?" And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver.

So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover.

And they were very sorrowful, and began to say to him one after another, "Is it I, Lord?"

And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

Jesus said to him, "Friend, why are you here?" Then they came up and laid hands on Jesus and seized him.

but they found none, though many false witnesses came forward. At last two came forward

And they bound him, and led him away and delivered him to Pilate the governor.

saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood." And they said, "What is that to us? You see to it!"

But the chief priests took the silver pieces and said, "It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, since they are the money of blood."

Then was fulfilled what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, "And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him on whom a price had been set by some of the sons of Israel,

and they gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord directed me."

Then Pilate said to him, "Do you not hear how many things they testify against you?"

Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to release for the crowd any one prisoner whom they wanted.

And at that time they had a notorious prisoner, called Barabbas.

So when they had gathered, Pilate said to them, "Whom do you want me to release for you, Barabbas or Jesus who is called Christ?"
