Uzzi was the father of Zerahiah, and Zerahiah was the father of Meraioth.

Meraioth was the father of Amariah, and Amariah was the father of Ahitub.

Ahitub was the father of Zadok, and Zadok was the father of Ahimaaz.

Ahimaaz was the father of Azariah, and Azariah was the father of Johanan.

and, Johanan, begat Azariah, - he, it was who ministered as priest, in the house which Solomon built in Jerusalem;

Azariah was the father of Amariah, and Amariah was the father of Ahitub.

Ahitub was the father of Zadok, and Zadok was the father of Shallum.

Shallum was the father of Hilkiah, and Hilkiah was the father of Azariah.

Azariah was the father of Seraiah, and Seraiah was the father of Jehozadak.

The son of Gershom was Libni, and his son Jahath, and his son Zimmah,

and his son Tahath; and Uriel was his son, and Uzziah his son, and Shaul was his son.

The sons of Elkanah: Zophai whose son was Nahath,

And these are they whom David set over the service of song in the house of Jehovah after that the ark was in rest.

These are the men who served, including their descendants: From the descendants of Kohath, there was Heman the singer, who had been fathered by Joel, who had been fathered by Samuel,

Serving beside him was his fellow Levite Asaph, son of Berechiah, son of Shimea,

But Aaron and his sons burnt upon the altar of burnt offerings and on the altar of cense, and were appointed unto all that was to do in the place most holy, and to make an atonement for Israel in all points according as Moses the servant of God had commanded.

These are the sons of Aaron: Eleazar, whose son was Phinehas, and his son Abishua,

And the number of them, after their genealogy by their generations, heads of the house of their fathers, mighty men of valour, was twenty thousand and two hundred.

The son of Jediael was Bilhan. And the sons of Bilhan were Jeush, Benjamin, Ehud, Chenaanah, Zethan, Tarshish and Ahishahar.

Shuppim and Huppim were the sons of Ir; Hushim was the son of Aher.

And Machir took a wife the sister of Huppim and Shuppim, and the name of their sister was Maachah. And the name of the second son was Zelophehad; and Zelophehad had daughters.

And Maachah the wife of Machir bore a son, and she called his name Peresh; and the name of his brother was Sheresh; and his sons were Ulam and Rakem.

The son of Ulam was Bedan. These were the sons of Gilead the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh.

And his sister Hammoleketh was the mother of Ishhod and Abiezer and Mahlah.

The sons of Ephraim: Shuthelah, whose son was Bered, and Tahath his son, and his son Eleadah, and Tahath his son,

The sons of Asher: Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, and Beriah. Serah was their sister.

And, the sons of Beriah, Heber, and Malchiel, - the same, was the father of Birzaith.

Heber was the father of Japhlet, Shomer, Hotham, and Shua their sister.

All these were the sons of Asher, heads of fathers' houses, choice men, mighty of valour, chiefs of the princes. And their number according to their genealogy, registered as fit for service for war, was twenty-six thousand men.

Benjamin was the father of Bela, his firstborn; Ashbel was born second, Aharah third,

Naaman, Ahijah, and Gera, who moved them. Gera was the father of Uzzah and Ahihud.

By Hodesh his wife he became the father of Jobab, Zibia, Mesha, Malcam,

And the sons of Elpaal: Eber and Misham and Shemed (he was the builder of Ono and Lod and their daughter-towns);

And at Gibeon dwelt the father of Gibeon; and his wife's name was Maachah.

And his son, the firstborn, was Abdon; and Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Nadab,

Mikloth was the father of Shimeah. They also lived near their relatives in Jerusalem.

Ner was the father of Kish, and Kish was the father of Saul. Saul was the father of Jonathan, Malki-Shua, Abinadab, and Eshbaal.

And all Israel were registered by genealogy; and behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel. And Judah was carried away to Babylon because of their transgression.

The settlers included: Uthai son of Ammihud, son of Omri, son of Imri, son of Bani, who was a descendant of Perez son of Judah.

From the descendants of Shilon there was Asaiah the firstborn, along with his descendants.

From the descendants of Zerah there was Jeuel, along with 690 of their relatives.

From the descendants of Benjamin there was Meshullam's son Sallu, who was also the grandson of Hodaviah and great-grandson of Hassenuah,

Jeroham's son Ibneiah, Uzzi's son Elah, who was also Michri's grandson, and Shephatiah's son Meshullam, who was the grandson of Reuel and great-grandson of Ibnijah,

and Hilkiah's son Azariah, who was fathered by Meshullam, who was fathered by Zadok, who was fathered by Meraioth, who was fathered by Ahitub, the Chief Operating Officer of the Temple of God.

There was Jeroham's son Adaiah, who was fathered by Pashhur, who was fathered by Malchijah, and Adiel's son Maasai, who was fathered by Jahzerah, who was fathered by Meshullam, who was fathered by Meshillemith, who was fathered by Immer,

From the descendants of Levi there was Hasshub's son Shemaiah, who was the grandson of Azrikam, who was fathered by Hashabiah, from the descendants of Merari;

along with Bakbakkar, Heresh, Galal, and Mica's son Mattaniah, who was the grandson of Zichri and great-grandson of Asaph,

and Shemaiah's son Obadiah, who was the grandson of Galal, who was fathered by Jeduthun, and Asa's son Berechiah, who was the grandson of Elkanah, who lived in the villages of the Netophathites.

And the doorkeepers: Shallum, and Akkub, and Talmon, and Ahiman, and their brethren; Shallum was the chief.

who until now was assigned to the king’s gate on the east side) they were the gatekeepers for the camp of the Levites.

Kore's son Shallum, who was the grandson of Ebiasaph and the great-grandson of Korah, and the descendants of Korah (who were relatives of his ancestral house) were over the service responsibilities and served as guardians of the entrances of the Tent, just as their ancestors had been in charge of the camp of the LORD and guardians of the entrance.

And Phinehas the son of Eleazar was the ruler over them formerly; Jehovah was with him.

Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was doorkeeper at the entrance to the tent of meeting.

The total number of those chosen to be gatekeepers at the thresholds was 212. They were registered by genealogy in their villages. David and Samuel the seer had appointed them to their trusted positions.

for they stayed round about the house of God during the night, because the charge was upon them, and the opening thereof every morning pertained to them.

And it was some one of the sons of the priests who compounded the ointment of the spices.

And Mattithiah of the Levites, who was the firstborn of Shallum the Korahite, was in trust over the things that were made in the pans.

And, some from among the Kohathites, of their brethren, were over the Bread that was set in Array, - to place it sabbath by sabbath.

These, also were the singers, ancestral chiefs of the Levites, in the chambers, free, - for, by day and by night, was there a charge upon them, in the business.

And, in Gibeon, dwelt the father of Gibeon, Jeiel, - the name of whose wife, was Maacah:

And the battle, went sore, against Saul, and the archers discovered him with the bow, - and he was terrified because of the archers.

Then said Saul to his armour-bearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through with it; lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me. But his armour-bearer would not; for he was much afraid. So Saul took the sword and fell on it.

And, when his armour-bearer saw that Saul was dead, then, he also, fell upon the sword, and died.

When that part of the army of Israel that was in the valley saw that the rest of the army of Israel had fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, they abandoned their cities and fled, and the Philistines came and occupied them.

So Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lord and did not obey the Lord's instructions; he even tried to conjure up underworld spirits.

Moreover also, in time past even when Saul was king, thou, wast he that led out and brought in Israel, - and Yahweh thy God said unto thee, Thou, shalt shepherd my people Israel, Yea, thou, shalt be chief ruler, over my people Israel.

Then went David and all Israel to Jerusalem, the same, was Jebus, - where were the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land.

And David said, Whoever smites the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. And Joab the son of Zeruiah went first up, and was chief.

Then David lived in the stronghold; so it was called the City of David.

Thus did David wax greater and yet greater, - and, Yahweh of Hosts, was with him.

This is the list of David's warriors: Jashobeam, a Hacmonite, was head of the officers. He killed three hundred men with his spear in a single battle.

And, after him, was Eleazar son of Dodai, the Ahohite, - he, was among the three heroes;

he, was with David in Pas-dammim, where, the Philistines, were gathered together to battle, and there was a field-plot full of barley, - and, the people, fled, from before the Philistines;

But they took their stand in the midst of that plot and defended it, and killed the Philistines; and the Lord rescued them by a great victory.

And three of the thirty chiefs went down to the rock to David, to the cave of Adullam, when the army of the Philistines was encamped in the valley of Rephaim.

Now, David, then was in the stronghold, - and, a garrison of Philistines, then was in Bethlehem.

David was thirsty and said, "How I wish someone would give me some water to drink from the cistern in Bethlehem near the city gate!"

And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was within the gate, and bare it, and brought it in unto David, - yet would not David drink it, but poured it out unto Yahweh;
