“Men of Israel, listen to these words: This Jesus the Nazarene was a man pointed out to you by God with miracles, wonders, and signs that God did among you through Him, just as you yourselves know.

“Brothers, I can confidently speak to you about the patriarch David: He is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.

Seeing this in advance, he spoke concerning the resurrection of the Messiah:

He was not left in Hades,
and His flesh did not experience decay.

“And now, brothers, I know that you did it in ignorance, just as your leaders also did.

because they were provoked that they were teaching the people and proclaiming the resurrection from the dead, using Jesus as the example.

If we are being examined today about a good deed done to a disabled man—by what means he was healed—

You said through the Holy Spirit, by the mouth of our father David Your servant:

and the peoples plot futile things?

Now those who were with me saw the light, but they did not hear the voice of the One who was speaking to me.

“I did not know, brothers, that he was the high priest,” replied Paul. “For it is written, You must not speak evil of a ruler of your people.

When Paul realized that one part of them were Sadducees and the other part were Pharisees, he cried out in the Sanhedrin, “Brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees! I am being judged because of the hope of the resurrection of the dead!”

When daylight came, they did not recognize the land but sighted a bay with a beach. They planned to run the ship ashore if they could.

They expected that he would swell up or suddenly drop dead. But after they waited a long time and saw nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and said he was a god.
