when suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a terrific blast of wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting,

And they saw tongues like flames of fire separating and resting on their heads, one to each of them,

Peter looked him straight in the eye, and so did John, and said, "Look at us."

Then all who were seated in the council fixed their eyes upon him and saw that his face was like that of an angel.

When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight, and when he went up to look at it, the voice of the Lord said to him,

'I am the God of your forefathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.' Moses was so terrified that he did not dare to look at the bush.

"In the desert our forefathers had the tent of the testimony, like the model Moses had seen, as God who spoke to him ordered him to make it.

So he said, "Look! I see heaven open, and the Son of Man standing at God's right hand."

Now this was the passage of Scripture that he was reading: "Like a sheep He was led away to be slaughtered, and just as a lamb is dumb before its shearer, so He does not open His mouth.

As they continued down the road, they came to some water, and the official said, "Look! here is some water! What is there to keep me from being baptized?"

And all at once something like scales fell from his eyes, he regained his sight, got up and was baptized,

and saw the sky opened, and something like a great sheet coming down, lowered to the earth by the four corners,

"I was praying in the town of Joppa, and while I was praying I fell in a trance and had a vision. I saw something like a great sheet coming down out of the sky, lowered by the four comers; and it came right down to me.

'Look, you scoffers! Then wonder and vanish away, for I am doing a work in your times which you will not at all believe though one may tell you in detail.'"

and shouted, "Men, why are you doing this? We are merely men with natures like your own, who are telling you the good news, so that you may turn from these foolish things to the living God, who made heaven and earth and sea and all that they contain.

Since then we are God's offspring, we ought not to suppose that His nature is like gold or silver or stone or anything carved by man's art and thought.

In everything I showed you that by working hard like this we must help those who are weak, and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, 'It makes one happier to give than to get.'"

He came to see us and took Paul's belt and with it bound his own hands and feet, and said, "This is what the Holy Spirit says, 'The Jews at Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt like this, and then will turn him over to the heathen.'"

So you and the council must now notify the colonel to bring him down to you, as though you were going to look into his case more carefully, but before he gets down we will be ready to kill him."

Then Felix, who had a fairly clear conception of the principles involved in The Way, adjourned the trial, saying to the Jews, "When Lysias, the colonel, comes down here, I will carefully look into your case."

"I should like to hear the man myself," said Agrippa to Festus. "Tomorrow you shall hear him," said Festus.

'Go to this people and say to them, "You will listen, and listen, and never understand, and you will look, and look, and never see!
