Plead ye with your mother -- plead, (For she is not My wife, and I am not her husband,) And she turneth her whoredoms from before her, And her adulteries from between her breasts,

And now do I reveal her dishonour before the eyes of her lovers, And none doth deliver her out of My hand.

But the pride and self-reliance of Israel testifies against him.
Therefore Israel, and [especially] Ephraim, stumble and fall in their wickedness and guilt;
Judah also has stumbled with them.

After two days will he revive us; on the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live before his face;

And they say not in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness: now do their own doings encompass them; they are before my face.

And the pride of Israel is cast down before their face, yet will they not turn to the LORD their God, nor seek him for all this.

Thy calf, O Samaria, shall be taken away, for my wrathful indignation is gone forth against thee. How long will it be, before they can be cleansed?

Even though they bring up their children, I will bereave them before maturity. Woe to them indeed, when I depart from them!

They have called to them rightly, They have gone from before them, To lords they do sacrifice, And to graven images they make perfume.

I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love, and I was to them as those who lift up the yoke on their jaws. And I laid food before them.
