I give praise to him who gave me power, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he took me to be true, making me his servant,

Ministers, too, must be serious. They must not be two-faced, addicted to wine, or greedy for money.

They too must be put on probation; after that, if they are above reproach, they can serve as deacons.

Wives, too, must be worthy of respect, not slanderers, self-controlled, faithful in everything.

A deacon too must have only one wife, and manage his children and household well.

the elder women too as mothers, and the younger women as sisters, with perfect modesty.

Do not hurry to lay hands on anyone [ordaining and approving someone for ministry or an office in the church, or in reinstating expelled offenders], and thereby share in the sins of others; keep yourself free from sin.

Good deeds too are evident enough, or when they are not, they cannot be wholly concealed.
