There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a testimony,

"Then who are you?" they said; "tell us, so that we can give some answer to those who sent us. What have you to say for yourself?"

John said, "I am the voice of one shouting in the wilderness, 'Make straight the way for the Lord,' as Isaiah the prophet said."

And Jesus turned and saw them following Him, and asked them, “What do you want?” They answered Him, “Rabbi (which translated means Teacher), where are You staying?”

He said to them: Come and see. They went and saw where he abode; and they remained with him that day; for it was about the tenth hour.

On the next day he wanted to depart for Galilee, and he found Philip. And Jesus said to him, "Follow me!"

Nazareth! said Nathanael, Is it possible for any good to come out of Nazareth? Philip said to him, Come and see.

"Leave the matter in my hands," He replied; "the time for me to act has not yet come."

After tasting the water which had now become wine, the master of the feast (having no idea where it came from, though it was clear to the servants who took the water out) sent for the newly-married man,

and said to him, "Everyone sets out the best wine first, and when people have had plenty to drink, he then sets out the poor quality [wine]. But you have kept the best wine until now." After this, Jesus went down to Capernaum he, his mother, his brothers, and his disciples and they remained there for a few days.

But the Jewish Passover was approaching, and for this Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

There in the Temple [area] He found people selling oxen, sheep and pigeons. [i.e., for use as sacrifices]. Also cashiers were sitting there. [Note: These people exchanged foreign coins so visitors to Jerusalem could make purchases and pay taxes].

The Jewish leaders said, "This sanctuary has been under construction for 46 years, and you're going to rebuild it in three days?"

While Jesus was in Jerusalem for the Passover Festival, many people believed in him because they saw the signs that he was doing.

Nicodemus said to him, "How can a man be born [when he] is an old man? He is not able to enter into his mother's womb for the second time and be born, [can he]?"

Do not be astonished that I said to you, 'It is necessary for you to be born from above.'

And Nicodemus said to him, How is it possible for these things to be?

for no man hath penetrated into the secrets of heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the son of man, who is in heaven.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Whoever believes and has decided to trust in Him [as personal Savior and Lord] is not judged [for this one, there is no judgment, no rejection, no condemnation]; but the one who does not believe [and has decided to reject Him as personal Savior and Lord] is judged already [that one has been convicted and sentenced], because he has not believed and trusted in the name of the [One and] only begotten Son of God [the One who is truly unique, the only One of His kind, the One who alone can save him].

After these things Jesus and his disciples went into the land of Judaea, and there he was with them for some time, giving baptism.

Now John was also baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because there was an abundance of water there; and people were coming and were being baptized—

You yourselves will testify for me, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him.

“He who comes from [heaven] above is above all others; he who is of the earth is from the earth and speaks [about things] of the earth [his viewpoint and experience are earthly]. He who comes from heaven is above all.

Whoever receives His testimony has set his seal [of approval] to this: God is true [and he knows that God cannot lie].

he left Judea and departed again for Galilee.

The woman says to him, Lord, thou hest no vessel for drawing, and the well is deep; whence then hast thou the living water?

Surely you're not greater than our ancestor Jacob, are you? For he gave us this well and drank from it himself, along with his sons and his livestock."

The woman said to him, Sir, give me this water, so that I may not be in need again of drink and will not have to come all this way for it.

Our fathers gave worship on this mountain, but you Jews say that the right place for worship is in Jerusalem.

Jesus said to her, Woman, take my word for this; the time is coming when you will not give worship to the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem.

At this, his disciples came. They marveled that he was speaking with a woman; yet no one said, "What are you looking for?" or, "Why do you speak with her?"

Already the reaper is receiving his wages and he is gathering fruit for eternal life; so that he who plants and he who reaps may rejoice together.

I sent you to reap [a crop] for which you have not worked. Others have worked and you have been privileged to reap the results of their work.”

So when the people came to him they made request to him to be among them for a time, and he was there two days.

After two days He left there for Galilee.

Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.

When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.

Jesus told him, "Go home; your son will live." The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and set off for home.

This was the second Sign which Jesus performed again after leaving Judaea for Galilee.

Later on there was a Jewish feast (festival), and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.

After a time Jesus came across him in the Temple and said to him, See, you are well and strong; do no more sin for fear a worse thing comes to you.

For this cause therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only brake the sabbath, but also called God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
