The Elder:

To my dear friend Gaius: I love you in the truth.

Dear friend, I pray you may prosper concerning everything and be healthy, just as your soul prospers.

For it gave me great joy when some of the brothers came and gave witness that you had the true faith and were walking in the true way.

I have no greater joy than to have news that my children are walking in the true way.

Dear friend, you act faithfully [in] whatever you do for the brothers, {even though they are strangers}.

So it is right for us to take in such men as guests, so that we may take our part in the work of the true faith.

Dear friend, do not imitate [what is] evil, but [what is] good. The one who does good is of God; the one who does evil has not seen God.

Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.
