Arise, Jehovah; let not man prevail: let the nations be judged in thy sight.

His ways always succeed; thy judgments are far above out of his sight; as for all his adversaries, he puffeth at them.

Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? He hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it.

Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail, our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

The wicked walk about on every side, when vileness is exalted among the children of men.

They have now encompassed us in our steps; their eyes have they set, bowing down to the earth.

{To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David, the servant of Jehovah, who spoke to Jehovah the words of this song in the day that Jehovah had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies and out of the hand of Saul. And he said,} I will love thee, O Jehovah, my strength.

They encountered me in the day of my calamity, but Jehovah was my stay.

And Jehovah hath recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight.

It is he who giveth great deliverances to his king, and sheweth loving-kindness to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.

Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their language to the extremity of the world. In them hath he set a tent for the sun,

For thou hast met him with the blessings of goodness; thou hast set a crown of pure gold on his head.

Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.

A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.

His soul shall dwell in prosperity, and his seed shall inherit the earth.

I have not sat with vain persons, neither have I gone in with dissemblers;

I have hated the congregation of evil-doers, and I have not sat with the wicked.

As for me, I said in my prosperity, I shall never be moved.

And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large place.

For I have heard the slander of many terror on every side when they take counsel together against me: they plot to take away my life.

As for me, I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes; nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.

These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.

Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done what is evil in thy sight; that thou mayest be justified when thou speakest, be clear when thou judgest.

For they have said, Let us take to ourselves God's dwelling-places in possession.

Righteousness shall go before him, and shall set his footsteps on the way.

O God, the proud are risen against me, and the assembly of the violent seek after my soul, and they have not set thee before them.

And of Zion it shall be said, This one and that one was born in her; and the Most High himself shall establish her.

A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

When I said, My foot slippeth, thy loving-kindness, O Jehovah, held me up.

Forty years was I grieved with the generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways;

Jehovah hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the nations.

I will set no thing of Belial before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.

He that practiseth deceit shall not dwell within my house; he that speaketh falsehoods shall not subsist in my sight.

Thou wilt rise up, thou wilt have mercy upon Zion: for it is the time to be gracious to her, for the set time is come.

I said, My God, take me not away in the midst of my days! ... Thy years are from generation to generation.
