But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, "Lord, save me!"

And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased;

Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees that were of Jerusalem, saying:

"How is it that your disciples break the traditions of our ancestors? For they do not wash their hands when they eat food."

His reply was: "How is it that you on your side break God's commandments out of respect for your own traditions?

And so shall he not honour his father or his mother. And thus have ye made, that the commandment of God is without effect, through your traditions.

And Peter answering said to him, Explain to us that dark saying.

These are the things that defile a person. But eating with unwashed hands does not defile a person!"

Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew into the vicinity of Tyre and Sidon.

On leaving that place, Jesus went to the shore of the Sea of Galilee; and then went up the hill, and sat down., you will do what not only what has been done to the fig tree, but, even if you should say to this hill 'Be lifted up and hurled into the sea!' it would be done.

And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them:

But Jesus called His disciples to Him and said, "My heart yearns over this mass of people, for it is now the third day that they have been with me and they have nothing to eat. I am unwilling to send them away hungry, lest they should faint on the road."

And the disciples said to him, "Where in [this] desolate place {can we get} so much bread that such a great crowd could be satisfied?"

And when the sky is reddish and overcast in the morning, you predict [that it will be] bad weather that day. You know how to interpret [weather] conditions from the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times [i.e., what will happen in the spiritual realm]"]}]}.

"It is an evil and spiritually unfaithful generation of people [that keeps on] looking for a [supernatural] sign; but there will be no [such] sign given to it except the sign of Jonah [i.e., being in the huge fish for three days]." Then He left them and went away.

When the disciples reached the other side of the sea, they realized that they had forgotten to bring bread.

They began to discuss this among themselves, saying, “He said that because we did not bring any bread.”

But Jesus, aware of this, said, “You men of little faith, why are you discussing among yourselves that you have no bread?

Do you not understand yet or remember that five thousand people [were fed] with five loaves of bread and how many baskets [of pieces] were picked up [afterward]?

Or that four thousand people [were fed] with seven loaves of bread and how many baskets [of pieces] were picked up [afterward]?

And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

And Jesus answered, and said to him, "Happy art thou, Simon the son of Jonas, for flesh and blood hath not opened unto thee that, but my father which is in heaven.

And Peter, protesting, said to him, Be it far from you, Lord; it is impossible that this will come about.

for he that would save his life shall lose it; but he that would lose his life for my sake shall find it.

Verily I say unto you, there are some of them that stand here, who shall in no wise taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

Then Peter began to speak and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good and delightful and auspicious that we are here; if You wish, I will put up three [sacred] tents here—one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, "See that ye tell the vision to no man, till the son of man be risen again from death."

When Jesus and His disciples met the crowd [that was gathered], a man came kneeling down to Jesus and saying to Him,

He answered, “Because of your little faith [your lack of trust and confidence in the power of God]; for I assure you and most solemnly say to you, if you have [living] faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and [if it is God’s will] it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?

Peter saith to him, From aliens. Jesus saith unto him, In that case then the children are free.

Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.
