Now use not men to do violence unto them, that are destroyed already; but where hurt is done, there use they to help.

Indeed, I hoped for good, but evil came, and I waited for light, but darkness came.

I went mourning but not in the sun: I stood up, and I cried in the congregation.

But now I am a companion of dragons, and a fellow of ostriches.

But my harp is in mourning; my flute plays only songs for those who are weeping."

Let me sow but, another, eat. And let, what I have springing up, be uprooted!

But seeing that God will sit in judgment, what shall I do? And for so much as he will needs visit me, what answer shall I give him?

(But from my youth He grew up with me as with a father, And from the belly of my mother I am led.)

The stranger did not lodge in the street: but I opened my doors to the traveler.

But if cause be that my land cry against me, or that the furrows thereof make any complaint;

So these three men ceased answering Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes [and could not be persuaded otherwise by them].

But Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite of the kindred of Ram, was very sore displeased at Job, that he called himself just before God.

Furthermore, he was furious with his three friends because they had not answered Job, but instead had condemned him.

But Elihu had waited till Job had finished speaking, because they were older than he.

But when he saw that the three men could not answer Job, he became angry.

Then Elihu the son of Barakel the Buzite {spoke up} and said, "{I am young}, but you are old; therefore I feared and became afraid of explaining my knowledge to you.

But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty gives him understanding.

Yes, I gave you my full attention, but there was no one who convinced Job, or who answered his words, among you.

Take care that you do not say, Wisdom is here; God may overcome him, but not man.

But he did not direct [his] words to me, and I will not answer him with your words.

And I have waited, but they do not speak, For they have stood still, They have not answered any more.)

"But now, please hear my speeches, Job, and hear all my words.

But thou hast spoken in mine ears, and, the sound of words, I heard: -

But He finds reasons to oppose me;
He regards me as His enemy.

But I tell you that you are wrong in this matter,
since God is greater than man.

For God speaks time and again,
but a person may not notice it.

That person sings to others, saying: 'I have sinned and falsified what is right, but I was not punished according to what I deserved.

But if you have something to say, answer me;
speak, for I would like to justify you.

But if you have nothing to say, then at least listen to me! Be quiet and learn some wisdom from me."

for Job has said, 'I am righteous, but God has taken away my justice.

but he rewardeth the works of man, and causeth every man to find according to his ways.

"But if [you have] understanding, hear this; listen to {what I say}.

but caused the poor to cry out to Him,
and He heard the outcry of the afflicted.

but he remains quiet, and who can condemn? And he hides [his] face, and who can behold him? Yet [he is] over a nation and over a person alike,

"For has any said to God, 'I am guilty, but I will not offend any more.

Is it your opinion that God should recompense it, because you reject this? But you must choose, and not I, so tell us what you know.

But Job will be tested to the end, because his answers are like those of wicked men.

But you say, 'What will it profit you,' and, 'What do I gain by not sinning?'

“Your wickedness affects only a man such as you,
And your righteousness affects only a son of man [but it cannot affect God, who is sovereign].

But no one says, 'Where [is] God my Maker, [who] gives songs in the night,

There they cry out, but he does not answer {because of the pride of evildoers}.

But if a man call upon God, doth not he hear him? Doth not the Almighty accept his cry?

But now, because his anger does not punish, and he does not acknowledge the transgression at all,

Therefore hath Job opened his mouth but in vain, and foolishly hath he made so many words."

Look, God [is] mighty but does not despise [anyone]; [he is] mighty [and] {good in understanding}.

He does not keep [the] wicked alive but grants justice [to the] afflicted.

He does not withdraw his eyes from [the] righteous, but he sets them forever with kings on the throne, and they are exalted.

But if they are bound in chains, and held captive by the cords of affliction,

But if they do not listen, they perish by [the] sword, and they pass away without knowledge.

But the godless in heart heap up anger; they cry not when he bindeth them:

But he delivereth the afflicted in his affliction, and openeth their ear in their oppression.

But you are obsessed with [the] judgment of [the] wicked; judgment and justice take hold of you.

If your cry for help is set in order, then it will not be in distress, but with all the forces of strength.

But beware that thou turn not aside to wickedness and sin, which hitherto thou hast chosen more than meekness.

yea, wonder at him, and yet they see him but afar off.

But can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the crashing of his pavilion?

And now men see not the light as it gleameth, it is hidden in the skies. But the wind passeth by and cleareth them.

Gold is brought out of the North, but the praise and honour of God's fear cometh from God himself.

As for the Almighty, we cannot attain to him! He is great in power, but justice and abundant righteousness he does not oppress.

and I said, 'You shall come up to here, but you shall not go further, and here it will set [a boundary] {for your proud surging waves}'?

but seek their pasture about the mountains and follow the green grass.

The wing of the ostrich beats joyously But is it the stork's pinion and plumage?

but she forgets that a foot might crush them or any wild animal might trample them.

But as soon as she springs up, she laughs at the horse and its rider.

but as soon as he heareth the shawmes blow, 'Tush,' sayeth he; for he smelleth the battle afar off, the noise, the Captains and the shouting.

Once I have spoken, and I will not answer; even twice, but I will not proceed."

But if, an arm like GOD, thou hast, and, with a voice like his, thou canst thunder,

The sword overtakes him, but will not hold firm. The spear, the dart, and the javelin also.

'Who [is] this darkening counsel without knowledge?' Therefore I uttered, but I did not understand; {things too wonderful for me}, but I did not know.

I have heard of you by the hearing of the ear: but now my eye sees you.
