And this is the testimony John [the Immerser] gave when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, "Who are you?" [Note: Levites were men who assisted the priests in the Temple service].

He replied, "I am the voice of a man who is calling out in the desert, [urging people to] 'Make the road for the Lord straight,' as Isaiah the prophet said, [Isa. 40:3]."

John answered them, "I am baptizing with water, but among you stands a man whom you do not know,

He is the man who comes after me, who has become before me, of whom I am not worthy that I might loosen the strap of his shoe.

I have both seen and testified that this man is the Chosen One of God."

Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of the two men who, hearing what John said, went after Jesus.

This man first finds his own brother Simon, and says to him, We have found the Messiah (which is, being interpreted, Christ).

Then Philip found Nathanael, and said to him, "We have found him about whom Moses in the Law wrote, as well as the Prophets--Jesus, the son of Joseph, a man of Nazareth."

[As] Jesus saw Nathaniel coming toward Him, He said [this] about him, "Look, [there is] a true Israelite, a completely honest man!"

Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

Mine hour is not yet come. His mother saith to the servants, Whatsoever he saith to you, do.

Then he told them, "Now draw some out and take it to the man in charge of the banquet." So they did.

After tasting the water which had now become wine, the master of the feast (having no idea where it came from, though it was clear to the servants who took the water out) sent for the newly-married man,

And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

So a discussion arose between John's disciples and a man from Judea, about purification.

And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to him.

Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I was sent before that man.

Whoever receives His testimony has set his seal [of approval] to this: God is true [and he knows that God cannot lie].

Are you a greater man than Jacob, our ancestor? He gave us this well, and he drank from it, with his sons and his cattle."

Jesus answered and said to her, Every man who drinks of this water will thirst again,

for you have had five husbands, and the man you are now living with is not your husband. You have said this truthfully.”

This man, [when he] heard that Jesus had come from Judea into Galilee, went to him and asked that he come down and heal his son, for he was about to die.

The man said, Sir, come down before my boy is dead.

For a heavenly agent went down at a certain time into the pool, and agitated the water. Therefore the first man who stepped in after the agitation of the water became well from whatever affliction he had.

Jesus seeing this man lying there, and knowing that he was in that state now a great length of time, says to him, Wouldest thou become well?

The Jews therefore said to the healed man, It is sabbath, it is not permitted thee to take up thy couch.

He answered them, “The Man who healed me and gave me back my strength was the One who said to me, ‘Pick up your pallet and walk.’”

But the man who was cured did not know who it was, because Jesus had slipped away into the crowd that was there.

Later on Jesus found the man in the Temple, and said to him, "Look, you have been made well; stop sinning or else something worse [i.e., than the handicap you had] will happen to you."

For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him everything that He Himself does; and He will show Him [even] greater deeds [i.e., more extensive in scope] than these [i.e., than merely healing a crippled man], so that you people will be amazed.

That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.

Don't be amazed at this, because the time is approaching when everyone in their graves will hear the Son of Man's voice

That man John was a lamp that burns and brightly shines, and for a while you were willing to rejoice in his light.

But if ye believe not the writings of that man, how will ye believe my sayings?

Philip answered him, "Two hundred pennyworth of bread are not sufficient for them, that every man have a little."

Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.
