Joshua and his whole army caught them by surprise at the Waters of Merom and attacked them.
I am speaking to you because you are the ones who saw all the great deeds of the Lord!

But they did not listen to me or pay any attention to me. They followed the stubborn inclinations of their own wicked hearts. They acted worse and worse instead of better.

The Lord said to me, "The people of Judah and the citizens of Jerusalem have plotted rebellion against me!
"These people have rejected the gently flowing waters of Shiloah and melt in fear over Rezin and the son of Remaliah.
You give me your protective shield; your right hand supports me; your willingness to help enables me to prevail.
I said, "So now, you wailing women, hear what the Lord says. Open your ears to the words from his mouth. Teach your daughters this mournful song, and each of you teach your neighbor this lament.
So I thought to myself, "The fate of the fool will happen even to me! Then what did I gain by becoming so excessively wise?" So I lamented to myself, "The benefits of wisdom are ultimately meaningless!"
For he came out of prison to become king, even though he had been born poor in what would become his kingdom.
The words of the wicked lie in wait to shed innocent blood, but the words of the upright will deliver them.
Should we then in your case hear that you do all this great evil, thereby being unfaithful to our God by marrying foreign wives?"
Throughout that night the king was unable to sleep, so he asked for the book containing the historical records to be brought. As the records were being read in the king's presence,
Then Job responded:
The descendants of Levi were recorded in the Book of the Chronicles as heads of families up to the days of Johanan son of Eliashib.
Get up, for this matter concerns you. We are with you, so be strong and act decisively!"
Pethahiah son of Meshezabel, one of the descendants of Zerah son of Judah, was an adviser to the king in every matter pertaining to the people.

While Gehazi was telling the king how Elisha had brought the dead back to life, the woman whose son he had brought back to life came to ask the king for her house and field. Gehazi said, "My master, O king, this is the very woman and this is her son whom Elisha brought back to life!"
So the woman did as the prophet said. She and her family went and lived in the land of the Philistines for seven years.
On all the walls around the temple, inside and out, he carved cherubs, palm trees, and flowers in bloom.
When he became king, he executed Jeroboam's entire family. He wiped out everyone who breathed, just as the Lord had predicted through his servant Ahijah the Shilonite.
She saddled the donkey and told her servant, "Lead on. Do not stop unless I say so."
He put the cherubs in the inner sanctuary of the temple. Their wings were spread out. One of the first cherub's wings touched one wall and one of the other cherub's wings touched the opposite wall. The first cherub's other wing touched the second cherub's other wing in the middle of the room.
Rehoboam passed away and was buried with his ancestors in the city of David. His mother was an Ammonite named Naamah. His son Abijah replaced him as king.
They sent for him, and Jeroboam and the whole Israelite assembly came and spoke to Rehoboam, saying,
When the old prophet who had invited him to his house heard the news, he said, "It is the prophet who rebelled against the Lord. The Lord delivered him over to the lion and it ripped him up and killed him, just as the Lord warned him."
You will go down to Gilgal before me. I am going to join you there to offer burnt offerings and to make peace offerings. You should wait for seven days, until I arrive and tell you what to do."
When Saul counted them at Bezek, the Israelites were 300,000 strong and the men of Judah numbered 30,000.

Then Joab blew the ram's horn and all the people stopped in their tracks. They stopped chasing Israel and ceased fighting.
The men of Jabesh said, "Tomorrow we will come out to you and you can do with us whatever you wish."
They got up at dawn and Samuel called to Saul on the roof, "Get up, so I can send you on your way." So Saul got up and the two of them -- he and Samuel -- went outside.
When he finished speaking, he threw the jawbone down and named that place Ramath Lehi.
When he reached Seirah, he blew a trumpet in the Ephraimite hill country. The Israelites went down with him from the hill country, with Ehud in the lead.
He has done this so all the nations of the earth might recognize the Lord's power and so you might always obey the Lord your God."
So Saul crossed through the hill country of Ephraim, passing through the land of Shalisha, but they did not find them. So they crossed through the land of Shaalim, but they were not there. Then he crossed through the land of Benjamin, and still they did not find them.
If brothers live together and one of them dies without having a son, the dead man's wife must not remarry someone outside the family. Instead, her late husband's brother must go to her, marry her, and perform the duty of a brother-in-law.
After Ehud brought the tribute payment, he dismissed the people who had carried it.

Moses the Lord's servant and the Israelites defeated them and Moses the Lord's servant assigned their land to Reuben, Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh.
Joshua did to them as the Lord had commanded him; he hamstrung their horses and burned their chariots.
Then he must offer the ram as a peace offering to the Lord, with the basket of bread made without yeast; the priest must also offer his grain offering and his drink offering.
You must not have sexual intercourse with the wife of your fellow citizen to become unclean with her.
After three days the leaders went through the camp
Then the two men returned -- they came down from the hills, crossed the river, came to Joshua son of Nun, and reported to him all they had discovered.

Then I sent messengers from the Kedemoth Desert to King Sihon of Heshbon with an offer of peace:

Each of you will go straight through the gaps in the walls; you will be thrown out toward Harmon." The Lord is speaking!
I will bring you into the wilderness of the nations, and there I will enter into judgment with you face to face.

So she went to visit the prophet at Mount Carmel. When he saw her at a distance, he said to his servant Gehazi, "Look, it's the Shunammite woman.

When all Israel heard about the judicial decision which the king had rendered, they respected the king, for they realized that he possessed supernatural wisdom to make judicial decisions.
The king asked, "Is there not someone left from Saul's family, that I may extend God's kindness to him?" Ziba said to the king, "One of Jonathan's sons is left; both of his feet are crippled."
Each one also brought to the assigned location his quota of barley and straw for the various horses.
When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he bowed low with his face toward the ground. David said, "Mephibosheth?" He replied, "Yes, at your service."
The Arameans of Damascus came to help King Hadadezer of Zobah, but David killed 22,000 of the Arameans.
Gideon continued, "I would like to make one request. Each of you give me an earring from the plunder you have taken." (The Midianites had gold earrings because they were Ishmaelites.)
No men were left in Ai or Bethel; they all went out after Israel. They left the city wide open and chased Israel.

So they brought the gold and silver vessels that had been confiscated from the temple, the house of God in Jerusalem, and the king and his nobles, together with his wives and concubines, drank from them.
They do not say to themselves, "Let us revere the Lord our God. It is he who gives us the autumn rains and the spring rains at the proper time. It is he who assures us of the regular weeks of harvest."
Then I told her, "You must live with me many days; you must not commit adultery or have sexual intercourse with another man, and I also will wait for you."
They said to leave the taproot of the tree, for your kingdom will be restored to you when you come to understand that heaven rules.
"Therefore say to the house of Israel, 'This is what the sovereign Lord says: Will you defile yourselves like your fathers and engage in prostitution with detestable idols?
For there will no longer be any false visions or flattering omens amidst the house of Israel.
And there you will remember your conduct and all your deeds by which you defiled yourselves. You will despise yourselves because of all the evil deeds you have done.
Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon me and said to me, "Say: This is what the Lord says: 'This is what you are thinking, O house of Israel; I know what goes through your minds.
Hear this, you peoples of the earth: 'Take note! I am about to bring disaster on these people. It will come as punishment for their scheming. For they have paid no attention to what I have said, and they have rejected my law.
But these people have stubborn and rebellious hearts. They have turned aside and gone their own way.
(Sin/Shin) The young boys and old men lie dead on the ground in the streets. My young women and my young men have fallen by the sword. You killed them when you were angry; you slaughtered them without mercy.
For their oppressive yoke and the club that strikes their shoulders, the cudgel the oppressor uses on them, you have shattered, as in the day of Midian's defeat.
When you walk about, they will guide you; when you lie down, they will watch over you; when you wake up, they will talk to you.
then, my child, do this in order to deliver yourself, because you have fallen into your neighbor's power: go, humble yourself, and appeal firmly to your neighbor.
For messengers are coming, heralding disaster, from the city of Dan and from the hills of Ephraim.
Just as dreams come when there are many cares, so the rash vow of a fool occurs when there are many words.
Then I considered all the skillful work that is done: Surely it is nothing more than competition between one person and another. This also is profitless -- like chasing the wind.
For you defended my just cause; from your throne you pronounced a just decision.
For look, the wicked prepare their bows, they put their arrows on the strings, to shoot in the darkness at the morally upright.

So the king said to me, "Why do you appear to be depressed when you aren't sick? What can this be other than sadness of heart?" This made me very fearful.
Throughout each and every province where the king's edict and law were announced there was considerable mourning among the Jews, along with fasting, weeping, and sorrow. Sackcloth and ashes were characteristic of many.
Now all the actions carried out under his authority and his great achievements, along with an exact statement concerning the greatness of Mordecai, whom the king promoted, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Media and Persia?
who were rebuilding the wall. Those who were carrying loads did so by keeping one hand on the work and the other on their weapon.
Then the servants of the king who were at the king's gate asked Mordecai, "Why are you violating the king's commandment?"

The Lord had caused the Syrian camp to hear the sound of chariots and horses and a large army. Then they said to one another, "Look, the king of Israel has paid the kings of the Hittites and Egypt to attack us!"
the pure gold lampstands and their lamps which burned as specified at the entrance to the inner sanctuary,
He also made a throne room, called "The Hall of Judgment," where he made judicial decisions. It was paneled with cedar from the floor to the rafters.
One of them said, "Please come along with your servants." He replied, "All right, I'll come."

Then the Benjaminites saw they were defeated. The Israelites retreated before Benjamin, because they had confidence in the men they had hid in ambush outside Gibeah.
He asked for water, and she gave him milk; in a bowl fit for a king, she served him curds.
The Kishon River carried them off; the river confronted them -- the Kishon River. Step on the necks of the strong!
The Israelites humiliated Midian; the Midianites' fighting spirit was broken. The land had rest for forty years during Gideon's time.

I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and his sons from among the Israelites, to do the work for the Israelites in the tent of meeting, and to make atonement for the Israelites, so there will be no plague among the Israelites when the Israelites come near the sanctuary."
The Lord, however, said to me, "Don't be afraid of him because I have already given him, his whole army, and his land to you. You will do to him exactly what you did to King Sihon of the Amorites who lived in Heshbon."
They traveled from Mount Hor and camped in Zalmonah.
The one who had died came out, his feet and hands tied up with strips of cloth, and a cloth wrapped around his face. Jesus said to them, "Unwrap him and let him go."

But the Kohathites are not to go in to watch while the holy things are being covered, or they will die."
This is the service of the Kohathites in the tent of meeting, relating to the most holy things.

just as the Father knows me and I know the Father -- and I lay down my life for the sheep.
When Pharaoh released the people, God did not lead them by the way to the land of the Philistines, although that was nearby, for God said, "Lest the people change their minds and return to Egypt when they experience war."
But the magicians of Egypt did the same by their secret arts, and so Pharaoh's heart remained hard, and he refused to listen to Moses and Aaron -- just as the Lord had predicted.
After him Judas the Galilean arose in the days of the census, and incited people to follow him in revolt. He too was killed, and all who followed him were scattered.
After he sat down, he called the twelve and said to them, "If anyone wants to be first, he must be last of all and servant of all."
Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, "Pray to the Lord that he may take the frogs away from me and my people, and I will release the people that they may sacrifice to the Lord."
and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written,
For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted."
This saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on such truths, so that those who have placed their faith in God may be intent on engaging in good works. These things are good and beneficial for all people.
his son Ishmael was thirteen years old when he was circumcised.
He also told them a parable: "Someone who is blind cannot lead another who is blind, can he? Won't they both fall into a pit?

This is the word of the Lord which was revealed to Hosea son of Beeri during the time when Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah ruled Judah, and during the time when Jeroboam son of Joash ruled Israel.
So I got up and went out to the valley, and the glory of the Lord was standing there, just like the glory I had seen by the Kebar River, and I threw myself face down.
Let him offer his cheek to the one who hits him; let him have his fill of insults.
"Or suppose I were to bring a sword against that land and say, 'Let a sword pass through the land,' and I were to kill both people and animals.
The hand of the Lord rested on me there, and he said to me, "Get up, go out to the valley, and I will speak with you there."

If an iron axhead is blunt and a workman does not sharpen its edge, he must exert a great deal of effort; so wisdom has the advantage of giving success.
thus I have been made to inherit months of futility, and nights of sorrow have been appointed to me.
He is wise in heart and mighty in strength -- who has resisted him and remained safe?
Do not let them depart from your sight, guard them within your heart;
and in the presence of his colleagues and the army of Samaria he said, "What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they be left to themselves? Will they again offer sacrifice? Will they finish this in a day? Can they bring these burnt stones to life again from piles of dust?"
I was embarrassed to request soldiers and horsemen from the king to protect us from the enemy along the way, because we had said to the king, "The good hand of our God is on everyone who is seeking him, but his great anger is against everyone who forsakes him."
When Esther's female attendants and her eunuchs came and informed her about Mordecai's behavior, the queen was overcome with anguish. Although she sent garments for Mordecai to put on so that he could remove his sackcloth, he would not accept them.
Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, and Pelaiah -- all of whom were Levites -- were teaching the people the law, as the people remained standing.
"How long will you speak these things, seeing that the words of your mouth are like a great wind?
For now you have become like these streams that are no help; you see a terror, and are afraid.

So Gehazi ran after Naaman. When Naaman saw someone running after him, he got down from his chariot to meet him and asked, "Is everything all right?"
Solomon made so many of these items they did not weigh the bronze.
"God does not really live on the earth! Look, if the sky and the highest heaven cannot contain you, how much less this temple I have built!

You must carefully obey at all times the rules, regulations, law, and commandments he wrote down for you. You must not worship other gods.

He made a colonnade 75 feet long and 45 feet wide. There was a porch in front of this and pillars and a roof in front of the porch.
The second cherub also had a wingspan of 15 feet; it was identical to the first in measurements and shape.
On these frames and joints were ornamental lions, bulls, and cherubs. Under the lions and bulls were decorative wreaths.
But now the Lord my God has made me secure on all fronts; there is no adversary or dangerous threat.
You give me your protective shield; your willingness to help enables me to prevail.
Then the king summoned Ziba, Saul's attendant, and said to him, "Everything that belonged to Saul and to his entire house I hereby give to your master's grandson.
Now there was a servant from Saul's house named Ziba, so he was summoned to David. The king asked him, "Are you Ziba?" He replied, "At your service."
For the Lord your God dried up the water of the Jordan before you while you crossed over. It was just like when the Lord your God dried up the Red Sea before us while we crossed it.
They said to the messengers who had come, "Here's what you should say to the men of Jabesh Gilead: 'Tomorrow deliverance will come to you when the sun is fully up.'" When the messengers went and told the men of Jabesh Gilead, they were happy.
Gideon said to them, "I will not rule over you, nor will my son rule over you. The Lord will rule over you."
They will ask you how you're doing and will give you two loaves of bread. You will accept them.
Yet Joshua spared Rahab the prostitute, her father's family, and all who belonged to her. She lives in Israel to this very day because she hid the messengers Joshua sent to spy on Jericho.

but the rest of the bull -- its hide, its flesh, and its dung -- he completely burned up outside the camp just as the Lord had commanded Moses.
the assembly must present a young bull for a sin offering when the sin they have committed becomes known. They must bring it before the Meeting Tent,
I have also heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant.

For Heshbon was the city of King Sihon of the Amorites. Now he had fought against the former king of Moab and had taken all of his land from his control, as far as the Arnon.
The families of the Kohathites were to camp on the south side of the tabernacle.

The word of the Lord came to me:
(Lamed) Neither the kings of the earth nor the people of the lands ever thought that enemy or foe would enter the gates of Jerusalem.
People do not despise a thief when he steals to fulfill his need when he is hungry.
"For I, the Lord, say: 'I will surely bring on these people all the good fortune that I am hereby promising them. I will be just as sure to do that as I have been in bringing all this great disaster on them.
"Hear the terms of the covenant I made with Israel and pass them on to the people of Judah and the citizens of Jerusalem.
Just as no one has power over the wind to restrain it, so no one has power over the day of his death. Just as no one can be discharged during the battle, so wickedness cannot rescue the wicked.
If you do this, then the kings and princes who follow in David's succession and ride in chariots or on horses will continue to enter through these gates, as well as their officials and the people of Judah and the citizens of Jerusalem. This city will always be filled with people.
For a man may do his work with wisdom, knowledge, and skill; however, he must hand over the fruit of his labor as an inheritance to someone else who did not work for it. This also is futile, and an awful injustice!
They say, "We speak persuasively; we know how to flatter and boast. Who is our master?"
Haman then recounted to them his fabulous wealth, his many sons, and how the king had magnified him and exalted him over the king's other officials and servants.
When Ahab heard these words, he tore his clothes, put on sackcloth, and fasted. He slept in sackcloth and walked around dejected.
Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered:
The king then had the matter investigated and, finding it to be so, had the two conspirators hanged on a gallows. It was then recorded in the daily chronicles in the king's presence.
Then the king prepared a large banquet for all his officials and his servants -- it was actually Esther's banquet. He also set aside a holiday for the provinces, and he provided for offerings at the king's expense.
I responded to them by saying, "The God of heaven will prosper us. We his servants will start the rebuilding. But you have no just or ancient right in Jerusalem."
So realize that the Lord your God is the true God, the faithful God who keeps covenant faithfully with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations,
Year after year visitors brought their gifts, which included items of silver, items of gold, clothes, perfume, spices, horses, and mules.
Judah, Benjamin, Shemaiah, Jeremiah,
Shemaiah the prophet visited Rehoboam and the leaders of Judah who were assembled in Jerusalem because of Shishak. He said to them, "This is what the Lord says: 'You have rejected me, so I have rejected you and will hand you over to Shishak.'"
Solomon also made these items for God's temple: the gold altar, the tables on which the Bread of the Presence was kept,
Solomon went to Hamath Zobah and seized it.
This temple will become a heap of ruins; everyone who passes by it will be shocked and will hiss out their scorn, saying, 'Why did the Lord do this to this land and this temple?'
These were the family leaders listed in the genealogical records; they lived in Jerusalem.
The sons of Beriah: Heber and Malkiel, who was the father of Birzaith.
Now the king was talking to Gehazi, the prophet's servant, and said, "Tell me all the great things which Elisha has done."
Under the rim all the way around it were round ornaments arranged in settings 15 feet long. The ornaments were in two rows and had been cast with "The Sea."
While they were still on their way, the following report reached David: "Absalom has killed all the king's sons; not one of them is left!"
Then David said to Uriah, "Go down to your home and relax." When Uriah left the palace, the king sent a gift to him.
The Israelites did not attack them because the leaders of the community had sworn an oath to them in the name of the Lord God of Israel. The whole community criticized the leaders,
even for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.
But you have attacked my father's family today. You murdered his seventy legitimate sons on one stone and made Abimelech, the son of his female slave, king over the leaders of Shechem, just because he is your close relative.
So Joshua son of Nun summoned the priests and instructed them, "Pick up the ark of the covenant, and seven priests must carry seven rams' horns in front of the ark of the Lord."
Indeed, any person who does not behave with humility on this particular day will be cut off from his people.
When the servant came to the place where Jonathan had shot the arrow, Jonathan called out to the servant, "Isn't the arrow further beyond you?"

I will produce portents both in the sky and on the earth -- blood, fire, and columns of smoke.
But go, tell his disciples, even Peter, that he is going ahead of you into Galilee. You will see him there, just as he told you."
The disciples were greatly astonished when they heard this and said, "Then who can be saved?"
As they drank wine, they praised the gods of gold and silver, bronze, iron, wood, and stone.
They will kill him, and on the third day he will be raised." And they became greatly distressed.
I saw that the ram was butting westward, northward, and southward. No animal was able to stand before it, and there was none who could deliver from its power. It did as it pleased and acted arrogantly.
O Israel, do not rejoice jubilantly like the nations, for you are unfaithful to your God. You love to receive a prostitute's wages on all the floors where you thresh your grain.

So I have poured my anger on them, and destroyed them with the fire of my fury. I hereby repay them for what they have done, declares the sovereign Lord."
In the sixth year, in the sixth month, on the fifth of the month, as I was sitting in my house with the elders of Judah sitting in front of me, the hand of the sovereign Lord seized me.
Even the stork knows when it is time to move on. The turtledove, swallow, and crane recognize the normal times for their migration. But my people pay no attention to what I, the Lord, require of them.
"'This is what the sovereign Lord says: Clap your hands, stamp your feet, and say, "Ah!" because of all the evil, abominable practices of the house of Israel, for they will fall by the sword, famine, and pestilence.
The customer will no longer pay the seller while both parties are alive, for the vision against their whole crowd will not be revoked. Each person, for his iniquity, will fail to preserve his life.
I said, "Indeed, let them come quickly and sing a song of mourning for us. Let them wail loudly until tears stream from our own eyes and our eyelids overflow with water.
They will surround Jerusalem like men guarding a field because they have rebelled against me," says the Lord.
From that day forward, half of my men were doing the work and half of them were taking up spears, shields, bows, and body armor. Now the officers were behind all the people of Judah
then I discerned all that God has done: No one really comprehends what happens on earth. Despite all human efforts to discover it, no one can ever grasp it. Even if a wise person claimed that he understood, he would not really comprehend it.
as water wears away stones, and torrents wash away the soil, so you destroy man's hope.
Everyone who did not come within three days would thereby forfeit all his property, in keeping with the counsel of the officials and the elders. Furthermore, he himself would be excluded from the assembly of the exiles.
Esther was still not divulging her lineage or her people, just as Mordecai had instructed her. Esther continued to do whatever Mordecai said, just as she had done when he was raising her.
"Have I ever said, 'Give me something, and from your fortune make gifts in my favor'?

In the seventh year of King Artaxerxes, Ezra brought up to Jerusalem some of the Israelites and some of the priests, the Levites, the attendants, the gatekeepers, and the temple servants.
But in the first year of King Cyrus of Babylon, King Cyrus enacted a decree to rebuild this temple of God.
and some of the temple servants that David and his officials had established for the work of the Levites -- 220 of them. They were all designated by name.
We therefore are informing the king that if this city is rebuilt and its walls are completed, you will not retain control of this portion of Trans-Euphrates."
King Shishak of Egypt attacked Jerusalem and took away the treasures of the Lord's temple and of the royal palace; he took everything, including the gold shields that Solomon had made.
When the Lord saw that they humbled themselves, he gave this message to Shemaiah: "They have humbled themselves, so I will not destroy them. I will deliver them soon. My anger will not be unleashed against Jerusalem through Shishak.
The Lord says this: "Do not attack and make war with your brothers. Each of you go home, for I have caused this to happen."'" They obeyed the Lord and called off the attack against Jeroboam.
They stripped his corpse, and then carried off his head and his armor. They sent messengers throughout the land of the Philistines proclaiming the news to their idols and their people.
Elisha replied, "I was there in spirit when a man turned and got down from his chariot to meet you. This is not the proper time to accept silver or to accept clothes, olive groves, vineyards, sheep, cattle, and male and female servants.
He let no one oppress them, he disciplined kings for their sake,
So Jehu eradicated Baal worship from Israel.
Who among all the gods of the lands has rescued their lands from my power? So how can the Lord rescue Jerusalem from my power?'"
He said, "Go and ask all your neighbors for empty containers. Get as many as you can.
But Rehoboam rejected their advice and consulted the young advisers who served him, with whom he had grown up.
Now the Lord was going before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them in the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel day or night.
David said to him, "Don't be afraid, because I will certainly extend kindness to you for the sake of Jonathan your father. You will be a regular guest at my table."
David took the golden shields that belonged to Hadadezer's servants and brought them to Jerusalem.
The king asked him, "Where is he?" Ziba told the king, "He is at the house of Makir son of Ammiel in Lo Debar.
Ira the Jairite was David's personal priest.
They ruthlessly oppressed the Israelites that eighteenth year -- that is, all the Israelites living east of the Jordan in Amorite country in Gilead.
And what mutual agreement does the temple of God have with idols? For we are the temple of the living God, just as God said, "I will live in them and will walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people."

Therefore you must distinguish between the clean animal and the unclean, and between the unclean bird and the clean, and you must not make yourselves detestable by means of an animal or bird or anything that creeps on the ground -- creatures I have distinguished for you as unclean.
And I know that this man (whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, God knows)
Therefore I tell you, her sins, which were many, are forgiven, thus she loved much; but the one who is forgiven little loves little."
After they had proclaimed the good news in that city and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, to Iconium, and to Antioch.
For we have found this man to be a troublemaker, one who stirs up riots among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.
we have unanimously decided to choose men to send to you along with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul,
But Saul became more and more capable, and was causing consternation among the Jews who lived in Damascus by proving that Jesus is the Christ.
When the Lord spoke to Moses in the land of Egypt,
They were the men who were speaking to Pharaoh king of Egypt, in order to bring the Israelites out of Egypt. It was the same Moses and Aaron.
You will be hated by everyone because of my name. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
and when they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.
And while they still could not believe it (because of their joy) and were amazed, he said to them, "Do you have anything here to eat?"
All were speaking well of him, and were amazed at the gracious words coming out of his mouth. They said, "Isn't this Joseph's son?"
People from the whole Judean countryside and all of Jerusalem were going out to him, and he was baptizing them in the Jordan River as they confessed their sins.
When Jonah began to enter the city one day's walk, he announced, "At the end of forty days, Nineveh will be overthrown!"
This fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet: "I will open my mouth in parables, I will announce what has been hidden from the foundation of the world."
"I have shown love to you," says the Lord, but you say, "How have you shown love to us?" "Esau was Jacob's brother," the Lord explains, "yet I chose Jacob
They built places of worship for the god Baal in the Valley of Ben Hinnom so that they could sacrifice their sons and daughters to the god Molech. Such a disgusting practice was not something I commanded them to do! It never even entered my mind to command them to do such a thing! So Judah is certainly liable for punishment.'
As for the rest of the beasts, their ruling authority had already been removed, though they were permitted to go on living for a time and a season.
Therefore I will act with fury! My eye will not pity them nor will I spare them. When they have shouted in my ears, I will not listen to them."
I did this because they did not observe my regulations, they rejected my statutes, they desecrated my Sabbaths, and their eyes were fixed on their fathers' idols.
"Indeed, there are wicked scoundrels among my people. They lie in wait like bird catchers hiding in ambush. They set deadly traps to catch people.
when he established the clouds above, when the fountains of the deep grew strong,
The word of the Lord came to me:
The people I call my own have turned on me like a lion in the forest. They have roared defiantly at me. So I will treat them as though I hate them.
They will lay it waste. It will lie parched and empty before me. The whole land will be laid waste. But no one living in it will pay any heed.
Indeed, they have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy race has become intermingled with the local residents. Worse still, the leaders and the officials have been at the forefront of all of this!"
Does the one who makes the human ear not hear? Does the one who forms the human eye not see?
I tried to understand, examine, and comprehend the role of wisdom in the scheme of things, and to understand the stupidity of wickedness and the insanity of folly.
Fools are placed in many positions of authority, while wealthy men sit in lowly positions.
Then the local people began to discourage the people of Judah and to dishearten them from building.
When Mordecai learned of the conspiracy, he informed Queen Esther, and Esther told the king in Mordecai's behalf.
On that same day King Ahasuerus gave the estate of Haman, that adversary of the Jews, to Queen Esther. Now Mordecai had come before the king, for Esther had revealed how he was related to her.
A scroll was found in the citadel of Ecbatana which is in the province of Media, and it was inscribed as follows: "Memorandum:
Mijamin, Moadiah, Bilgah,
But after our ancestors angered the God of heaven, he delivered them into the hands of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this temple and exiled the people to Babylon.

The king made silver as plentiful in Jerusalem as stones; cedar was as plentiful as sycamore fig trees are in the lowlands.

Now a wife of one of the prophets appealed to Elisha for help, saying, "Your servant, my husband is dead. You know that your servant was a loyal follower of the Lord. Now the creditor is coming to take away my two boys to be his servants."
Solomon answered all her questions; there was no question too complex for the king.

When all the Israelites who were in the valley saw that the army had fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, they abandoned their cities and fled. The Philistines came and occupied them.
as well as masons and stonecutters. They bought wood and chiseled stone to repair the damage to the Lord's temple and also paid for all the other expenses.
the Ammonite officials said to their lord Hanun, "Do you really think David is trying to honor your father by sending these messengers to express his sympathy? No, David has sent his servants to you to get information about the city and spy on it so they can overthrow it!"
But the high places were not eliminated; the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense on the high places.
Hannah prayed, "My heart rejoices in the Lord; my horn is exalted high because of the Lord. I loudly denounce my enemies, for I am happy that you delivered me.
After Hezron's death, Caleb had sexual relations with Ephrath, his father Hezron's widow, and she bore to him Ashhur the father of Tekoa.
The king ordered, "Get me a sword!" So they placed a sword before the king.
David reigned over Israel forty years; he reigned in Hebron seven years, and in Jerusalem thirty-three years.
The rest of the events of Pekahiah's reign, including all his accomplishments, are recorded in the scroll called the Annals of the Kings of Israel.
When the king heard what the woman said, he tore his clothes. As he was passing by on the wall, the people could see he was wearing sackcloth under his clothes.
When Uriah came to him, David asked about how Joab and the army were doing and how the campaign was going.
This is why the Lord permitted these nations to remain and did not conquer them immediately; he did not hand them over to Joshua.
He told the Israelites, "When your children someday ask their fathers, 'What do these stones represent?'
Moses chose capable men from all Israel, and he made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.
If some of the meat of his peace offering sacrifice is ever eaten on the third day it will not be accepted; it will not be accounted to the one who presented it, since it is spoiled, and the person who eats from it will bear his punishment for iniquity.

But the Lord was angry at me because of you and would not listen to me. Instead, he said to me, "Enough of that! Do not speak to me anymore about this matter.
Let me please cross over to see the good land on the other side of the Jordan River -- this good hill country and the Lebanon!"
the hangings of the courtyard, the curtain at the entrance to the courtyard that surrounded the tabernacle and the altar, and their ropes, plus all the service connected with these things.
But Balaam replied to Balak, "Did I not tell you, 'All that the Lord speaks, I must do'?"
"Do not hold back offerings from your granaries or your vats. You must give me the firstborn of your sons.
He jammed the wheels of their chariots so that they had difficulty driving, and the Egyptians said, "Let's flee from Israel, for the Lord fights for them against Egypt!"
Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven final plagues came and spoke to me, saying, "Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb!"
(The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has testified concerning his Son.)
You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him."
Then Peter and John placed their hands on the Samaritans, and they received the Holy Spirit.
And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, worth less than a penny.
beginning from his baptism by John until the day he was taken up from us -- one of these must become a witness of his resurrection together with us."
For to which of the angels did God ever say, "You are my son! Today I have fathered you"? And in another place he says, "I will be his father and he will be my son."
Then they will see the Son of Man arriving in a cloud with power and great glory.
For what does it benefit a person if he gains the whole world but loses or forfeits himself?
So Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh, and he said to them, "Go, serve the Lord your God. Exactly who is going with you?"
Jesus said to him, "Go, your faith has healed you." Immediately he regained his sight and followed him on the road.
