I know that the Lord defends the cause of the oppressed and vindicates the poor.
Their insults are painful and make me lose heart; I look for sympathy, but receive none, for comforters, but find none.
The law you have revealed is more important to me than thousands of pieces of gold and silver.

"From its earliest days Moab has lived undisturbed. It has never been taken into exile. Its people are like wine allowed to settle undisturbed on its dregs, never poured out from one jar to another. They are like wine which tastes like it always did, whose aroma has remained unchanged.

At Tahpanhes the Lord spoke to Jeremiah.
The Lord God of Israel told Jeremiah to go and give King Zedekiah of Judah a message. He told Jeremiah to tell him, "The Lord says, 'I am going to hand this city over to the king of Babylon and he will burn it down.
You, Pashhur, and all your household will go into exile in Babylon. You will die there and you will be buried there. The same thing will happen to all your friends to whom you have prophesied lies.'"
Their descendants will be known among the nations, their offspring among the peoples. All who see them will recognize that the Lord has blessed them."
Look, they are like straw, which the fire burns up; they cannot rescue themselves from the heat of the flames. There are no coals to warm them, no firelight to enjoy.
I was angry at my people; I defiled my special possession and handed them over to you. You showed them no mercy; you even placed a very heavy burden on old people.

All of you, gather together and listen! Who among them announced these things? The Lord's ally will carry out his desire against Babylon; he will exert his power against the Babylonians.
"Take the harp, go through the city, forgotten prostitute! Play it well, play lots of songs, so you'll be noticed!"
You demonstrate your faithfulness to all generations. You established the earth and it stood firm.
So this is what the Lord says about the king of Assyria: 'He will not enter this city, nor will he shoot an arrow here. He will not attack it with his shielded warriors, nor will he build siege works against it.
He sent a man ahead of them -- Joseph was sold as a servant.
Certainly his loyal followers will soon experience his deliverance; then his splendor will again appear in our land.
Do you know how God commands them, how he makes lightning flash in his storm cloud?
The king and Jehoiada gave it to the construction foremen assigned to the Lord's temple. They hired carpenters and craftsmen to repair the Lord's temple, as well as those skilled in working with iron and bronze to restore the Lord's temple.
He commanded them: "Carry out your duties with respect for the Lord, with honesty, and with pure motives.

They used it to make items for the Lord's temple, including items used in the temple service and for burnt sacrifices, pans, and various other gold and silver items. Throughout Jehoiada's lifetime, burnt sacrifices were offered regularly in the Lord's temple.
Each day there were six Levites posted on the east, four on the north, and four on the south. At the storehouses they were posted in pairs.
The king of Israel summoned an officer and said, "Quickly bring Micaiah son of Imlah."
The Lord rewards each man for his integrity and loyalty. Even though today the Lord delivered you into my hand, I was not willing to extend my hand against the Lord's chosen one.

But you must not redeem the firstborn of a cow or a sheep or a goat; they are holy. You must splash their blood on the altar and burn their fat for an offering made by fire for a pleasing aroma to the Lord.
The border then descended southward to the Valley of Kanah. Ephraim was assigned cities there among the cities of Manasseh, but the border of Manasseh was north of the valley and ended at the sea.
These cities were in the desert: Beth Arabah, Middin, Secacah,
They said, "The Lord commanded my lord to give the land as an inheritance by lot to the Israelites; and my lord was commanded by the Lord to give the inheritance of our brother Zelophehad to his daughters.
Then Eleazar the priest said to the men of war who had gone into the battle, "This is the ordinance of the law that the Lord commanded Moses:
Now Israel's eyes were failing because of his age; he was not able to see well. So Joseph brought his sons near to him, and his father kissed them and embraced them.
then the priest is to command that the stones that had the infection in them be pulled and thrown outside the city into an unclean place.
These are those who were numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who numbered the Israelites in the plains of Moab along the Jordan River opposite Jericho.

This is what will happen to Pharaoh and all his hordes, declares the sovereign Lord.'"
does not oppress anyone or keep what has been given in pledge, does not commit robbery, gives his food to the hungry, and clothes the naked,
When their appetites are all stirred up, I will set out a banquet for them. I will make them drunk so that they will pass out, they will fall asleep forever, they will never wake up," says the Lord.
Then I set cups and pitchers full of wine in front of the members of the Rechabite community and said to them, "Have some wine."
Indeed, the Lord has chosen Jacob for himself, Israel to be his special possession.
I will destroy Babylonia just like I did Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighboring towns. No one will live there. No human being will settle in it," says the Lord.
Moreover, all the Judeans who were in Moab, Ammon, Edom, and all the other countries heard what had happened. They heard that the king of Babylon had allowed some people to stay in Judah and that he had appointed Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam and grandson of Shaphan, to govern them.
For the fortified city is left alone; it is a deserted settlement and abandoned like the desert. Calves graze there; they lie down there and eat its branches bare.
Micaiah, who was the son of Gemariah and the grandson of Shaphan, heard Baruch read from the scroll everything the Lord had said.
The Lord is God and he has delivered us. Tie the offering with ropes to the horns of the altar!
