Was it not Moses who gave you the Law? Yet not one of you obeys the Law. Why are you trying to kill me?"

He meant by this the Spirit which those who believed in him were to receive??or the Spirit had not yet come, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.

Do not the Scriptures say that the Christ is to spring from the descendants of David and to come from the village of Bethlehem where David lived?"

The attendants went back to the high priests and Pharisees, and they said to the attendants, "Why have you not brought him?"

But these common people who do not know the Law are doomed!"

Jesus answered, "Even if I am testifying to myself, my testimony is true, for I know where I have come from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from or where I am going.

But even if I do judge, my decision is just, because I am not by myself, but the Father who sent me is with me.

He said these things in the treasury, as he was teaching in the Temple, and no one arrested him, because he was not yet ready.

The Jews said to him, "You are not fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?"

Then his neighbors and people who had formerly seen him begging, said, "Is not this the man who used to sit and beg?"

They said to him, "Where is he?" He answered, "I do not know."

Then some of the Pharisees said, "This man does not come from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath." But others said, "How can a sinful man show such signs as this?" And there was a division of opinion among them.

But the Jews would not believe that he had been blind and had become able to see until they summoned the parents of the man who had been given his sight,

But we do not know how it is that he can see now, or who has made him able to see. You must ask him. He is grown up. Let him tell you about himself."

He answered, "I do not know about his being a sinful man. All I know is that I was blind before and now I can see."
